Never used the pitchfork before but processed thousands of Chinchillas. The neck snap was always the cleanest, most humane way of putting them down. We tried many other methods and there were always issues. Skinned them a bit different, though. We'd make a small incision near the pubis, insert a guide rod between the skin and the carcass, all the way from pubis to chin, then just run a sharp knife through that. Lift the belly flaps, use same rod to incise from body toward each of the 4 paws. Cut the paws off with garden shears, then skin would peel off nicely by pulling the tail. Garden shear the neck, also.
All of you people who are complaining about a rabbit being butchered on a video named "How to Butcher a Rabbit" should be ashamed of themselves. The real travesty here is that they are Bronco's fans.! Go Pats!!!
I never knew much about rabbits in the food industry, thank you for showing. Severing the brain stem is also what stoats (rabbit predator) do, they exhaust the rabbit and bite the back of their head.
Thanks so much for this video. I was really nervous with my first time butchering a rabbit. This video was the easiest to see for all the important details of all the videos I found. Nothing went to waste except a small bit of the liver which I may have been overly cautious about cutting some off to avoid the gallbladder. Oh and just a tip for anyone that does not own a pitchfork if you hold the rabbit by its feet and let it hang it will lift its head toward it's back and you can put your other hand around it's neck like she did with the prongs of the pitchfork make him lean back a bit farther and then pull. I saw a different video that showed that and it worked quickly and efficiently when I did it.

All these comments about 'you drowned the bunny!' or 'How could you skin it alive!' lets us know clearly who actually paid attention to the video. 😂This was very informative and she explained EVERYTHING and the reason behind it. No, she didn't 'drown' the bunny, not to mention I doubt it would have drowned from a 2 second dunk into water. Secondly, it was dead when she was skinning it and for those saying 'Well how do you know >:(?' Well, how do you NOT know? This is NOT abuse. Do you scream abuse when you pop a piece of bacon in your mouth? Do you cry tears when you eat a juicy burger? This rabbit is meat, just like all those other animals. People eat different things in different areas of the world and that's just something you gotta accept, and if you don't then you're gonna be floored when you find out that some countries refuse to kill cows but will gladly eat a dog in a heart beat. Because in those parts of the country they are FOOD. Just like this rabbit. This generation is way too sensitive.
They're also pets. The Asian countries butcher cats, dogs, rhinos, elephants, cheetahs, leopards, seahorses, whales, sharks, bats and much more. Research the information. Many times they steal dogs from their owners. Type in "China's cruelty to cats and dogs" then hit images.
@@sandracostello2833 wooooowww those asian countries sure are weird for eating all those animals! they need to eat the animals that americans have decided are normal. right guys?
This was extremely educational. I've only done a few of our rabbits so far, and I'm going to have to try the pitchfork method. The method I have been using (the chain pull) is the same one we use with our chickens, and it's almost as good. I'll also have to try the ice water dunk too, rinsing the fur off is such a pain. For those who don't know, the chain method is just to attach one end of a slim dog choke chain to any stationary object at a bit higher than waist level, and then loop the other end around the rabbit's neck. Just snug it down a bit, shift their back legs to your other hand, and YANK straight back with your entire body. You now have a very dead rabbit whose last memory was being stroked and told "here, put on this pretty necklace".
I watched a dozen videos on this and this was the best one because she took her time and the camera guy got good angles. The 13 yo girl just chilling there, eating an apple, while looking at how the woman massacres the cute bunny to turn them into a delicious meal its kinda perturbing tbh 😂
Why? I just like cutting your onions
Only to leftists.
Right
Was a complete massacre that is for sure. And all that blood splatter, at least six litres.
I love petting rabbits, but after watching the 1st and this video I think I'll start cooking rabbit for myself
I was just looking up vids on rabbit and I got here like bro do u have a heart?
HAY
That’s so cruel how can u do that I know it’s apart of live but still
if you don't like this don't go to fast food restaurants, they're worse
Arthur can skinn it in a single pull
When you get carried away ripping the skin off your finger:
bruh.. lmao
how dare she do that😭💔🐰🐇🥕
She's been doing it for 30 years, yet still does a mediocre job of it. Did she not learn anything in those years?
The knife was dull.
I don't have a weak stomach, unless there's fly larvae involved, but this was a bit hard to watch. Educational, but still pretty rough.
Garden shear the neck, also.
...
WHY CHINCHILLAS:(
I MEAN COWS,CHICKENS,PIGS YES BHT CATS,DOGS,RABBITS,CHINCHILLAS NO:(
All of you people who are complaining about a rabbit being butchered on a video named "How to Butcher a Rabbit" should be ashamed of themselves. The real travesty here is that they are Bronco's fans.! Go Pats!!!
Thee Unknown, so far they're 1-1 :(
I never knew much about rabbits in the food industry, thank you for showing.

@@sandracostello2833 why the thumbs down?
@@cym2605 too soft, they have never touched grass
@@joseiraheta5218 yeah, I’ve only hunted rabbits once or twice and let me tell u killing them instantly is an easier and more humane death than any other natural one they’d have
@@sandracostello2833 Oh my, are you triggered? Do you need a time out? How about organizing a protest...while you eat a McDonald's hamburger that came from some sort of mystery non-living meat...
When did this rabbit die? Did it die in the ice water? Or after cut on the throat.
Before all that, it died as soon as she pulled, and broke its neck, and caused the spinal cord to recoil into the brain, killing it instantly.
How come there's no option to share this? Is it because of the "graphic content"?
I really shouldnt have watched this, i look at my pet rabbit in a whole different way, i chose to watch this so my fault there lol
Well at least you know your rabbit isn’t gonna go through that
Haha... i feel somewhat the same... makes me love my little buns even more!
@Peter Koval Crazy vegan spotted
Same here i wanna do her next but her neck wont fit in that thingy
Wow, im actually learning a lot. Id like to take a class from her.
On how to be disgusting???
@@Lananotwithkhtmii on how to be self sustainable, someone's gotta do it 🤷🏽♀️ like its gross to prep sure but at least ill know where my food is coming from

You monster
I'm hungry too. 😋
@@leftifornian2066 Why is he a monster? And why did you like your comment?
Generally when a neck is broken it causes paralysis. Not death as far as I know. Seems like it was bled alive
It usually causes death, it has to happen in a very specific way to paralyze without killing
@@murilo7794 interesting, thanks
Done in this way 99 times out of 100 it will result in instant death.
The one other time, it will still be unconscious, and be dead before it has time to feel anything.
Love it!! Does it Work in cats?
Plus you obviously saw her snap the neck
They're also pets.
The Asian countries butcher cats, dogs, rhinos, elephants, cheetahs, leopards, seahorses, whales, sharks, bats and much more.
Research the information.
Many times they steal dogs from their owners. Type in "China's cruelty to cats and dogs" then hit images.

@@sandracostello2833 wooooowww those asian countries sure are weird for eating all those animals! they need to eat the animals that americans have decided are normal. right guys?
im appreciating the girl in the background eating an apple, not harming anyone
Where do I find that circular tool/slaughter tool?
Do people eat rabbits liver?
good video but she takes far too long to skin the rabbit
andrea jewkes dull knife
30 years doing that were not enough
She's doing a video explaining everything. Of course she's taking longer than normal. Silly goose.
I watched a dozen videos on this and this was the best one because she took her time and the camera guy got good angles. Maybe you didn't need to learn anything but I just butchered my first rabbit and didn't waste anything thanks solely to this video the others didn't teach anything that my imagination didn't already get.
I’m glad the young lady is learning food prep from her elder. But can someone teach her to chew with her mouth closed? Etiquette is a skill that once learned can take a woman far.
Girl you need to get to Cabella's and get you some good butchering knives! IT should be way easier for you.
Why did you treat the organs like that
Why did you kill the poor rabbit rabbit
