    Mexico is really dangerous, though it depends where you go. If you stay at the most tourist-inclined destinations, and stay there, the worst thing that will happen to you is the locals making their things more expensive for you

    • @elguerotapatio9258
      @elguerotapatio9258 3 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      Nah you can go off the beaten path, you aren't really in any danger as long as you follow the normal rules of no walking alone after dark or going to the hood is fine

    • @malanizta
      @malanizta 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    • @g1rretxe
      @g1rretxe 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Whenever someone asks me if it is really dangerous in México, I always say that if you don't look for trouble you will not find it. If you stay on the most touristic parts nothing will happen to you. But if you get robbed or anything because you thought it was a fantastic idea to go somewhere or coming back from somewhere pretty late at night, well, that L was on you.

    • @misteryA555
      @misteryA555 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on where you go, just like in any country. Sinaloa can get dangerous if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time, but the cartel and other dangerous people rarely go after tourists. On the flipside, go to the Yucatán and you'll never see any trouble, especially if you stay aware of your belongings

    • @danielma5477
      @danielma5477 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In fairness, I have heard of people being taken by the Cartel in tourist-inclined places in Mexico. Unfortunately, there is still a small risk of something happening. This is probably an edge case, but it is still good to be aware of the possibility.
      The girl I heard about was being ransomed for several millions. When the church community her family was a part of could only get half the money, they sent back half of her body. So, remember to be careful, even if you are in a relatively safe place.

    When it comes to vacation there are two types I guess. Excursion and relaxation. If you wanna do some exploration you'll go to an active spot. If you want to have some downtime. You'll find the relevant spot. Or maybe you want something in between. But not every holiday should be seen the same.
    Also agree with Connor. 2 weeks tops camping, after that it just becomes a chore. 1 week is plenty more than enough time tbh.

    - Japan obviously
    - this is going to sound super-specific, but West Virginia, USA; go full-tourist geek-mode in cryptid country in the Appalachian mountains. The fucking mothman museum with the statue of mothman with his glorious ass, Grafton and it's local headless monstrosity, Flatwoods and their resident alien, all kinds of monsters and local myth, there's like a town that has a Halloween parade with European costumes and masks and such, there's like this huge resort that once had the presidential bunker under it (it's now used for like backup data storage for certain companies and organizations), there's just all this weird shit in the mountains over there, some of it is government-related, some of it is weird tourist stuff, some of it is local history, and the pure kitsch that is small-town touristy America. I love small tourist towns you see in like older towns with like boardwalks or local museums and such; I just eat up that aesthetic, show me the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota and I'm already buying a t-shirt or two and maybe some other chatschkies while I'm taking like 20+ pictures.

      Exactly, you have coastal cities that became expansive and luxurious through trade since the colonial area. But if you go inland you will mostly find rural areas or areas of conflict. You have to be more aware when going that way. But the coast is mostly as safe as the USA.
      Actually it's kinda like Australia. On the coast are these enormous cities with options to enjoy your vacation. Inland things become more dangerous, rural and basically the only thing you can do is tour/sightseeing the enviroment.

    I can relate to the vacations as a kid part. I went to Dollywood(Dolly Parton’s theme park) as a kid with my mom and grandma and I hated it. Thought it was the worse theme park ever. Went back as an adult with my now wife, loved it. Things are just way more fun when you have freedom.

    I felt the same way about fishing, dirty bathrooms, wet tent tarps when camping, etc, as these guys, but in every other way I'm basically the opposite. If you're visitng a new country, why wouldn't you want to maximize the limtied time you spent there? You can sit in bed, eat, play video games, etc at home, being in a new place, that you might only ever visit once or twice in your entire life, completely incentivizes me to do a lot more there, because I only have so much time there anyway. So I don't really understand people who just want to relax and not do anything on vacations.
