  • www.newmexicopbs.org - From the earliest colonial visions to detailed modern maps, it is fascinating to see how New Mexico has evolved through the centuries. Noted geographer Jerry L. Williams takes us on a journey through time telling us about how New Mexico established its boundaries. He shares historical insights into the events and people that determined our state's shape. To illustrate this story we present rare historical maps from the New Mexico History Museum, The University of New Mexico, and the David Rumsey Map Collection.

    My grandpa homesteaded in New Mexico in 1907. My dad was born there in 1908. Love my home state! Interesting maps.

      Agradezco este video, en otros videos la historia importante es Billy the kid ,según esto sería lo más importante 😢

      Did his descendants go by the last name of Miera or Pacheco?

    Interesting presentation marred by very destracting percussive music continually rising from the background. Use smooth misic or none at all.

    It was occupied land. Natives from several tribes owned this land.

      @Jeff Holland not white people.

      Yes. The white history. Same one you read. But I am from New Mexico and a native. My ancestors write a different story. Now you do some research instead of reading the lies that white people tell.

      @@rawbrob1079 If you're from NM then you know that you need a DNA test to determine how much European blood you have and how much Native blood you have. Hundreds of years of intermarriage have made us one people.

      Um, I'm from New Mexico too. My family is part of the Land Grant here in NM. I am of Spanish and native ancestry. Everyone's history is different. I don't believe the lies the white man tells. I know my history.

      @@rawbrob1079 Which land grant? If you're part Spanish then you're part White. Hate to break that to you. Of course the Spanish people here don't consider themselves White because of their Indian blood but indeed we are. I'm 85% European and 15% Native. I never refer to myself as White.

      This is a short video overview. Not an in depth study . If you are interested in the topic . You'll have to find the source maps(should be easy) and stare and study all the intricate details .
