    Shout out from the Philippines!! 🙌🏻 It’s always cool to see how int’l. companies are helping us innovate while preserving the culture of the Filipino Jeepney! 🇵🇭

      Exactly ! I didn't put all the interview in. But obviously it was all super interesting... we talked about why the Jeepney is so culturally important !

    Good conversion. It's looks like the same jeepney I would ride in Metro Manila. Vehicles like this are also used for special hauling, cargo and shipping of produce, appliances and grain or vegetation especially in the outer islands.

    This is what we needed. The engine is electric but the design of the jeep retains and not the looks of a minibus from China. I think this has very good quality and not having a battery defect like a sudden caught on fire due to unusual rapid heating. Also, solar panels may be added to charge the batteries even if they are far from the charging stations. This is, indeed, the real jeepney modernization. But the government must provide for the drivers, of course. #NoToJeepneyPhaseout

    I hope that, in your design, you guys keep in mind the tropical climate of the country. We have here extreme rainfalls and floods, and in summer very high temperatures

      Thanks man ! If I understand correctly, there already were a few other prototypes, and it's pretty much "done". Some drove in Manilla already. But I suppose it might take at least a year or two before "real life application" (or maybe I'm being pessimistic and it's already ready lol)

    • @Edrian1011
      @Edrian1011 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      alexsmolik could be longer than that tbh 😂. Most of the jeepney drivers here don’t want to adapt to the change yet. The gov’t is actually planning a jeepney modernization program (not electric yet, but cleaner diesels) and they’re already fighting it ...

    • @alexsmolik
      @alexsmolik  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Huh ? I wouldn't have imagined the drivers not wanting this, but it's interesting to know. Small steps to make things go big :D

      alexsmolik maybe because they have to buy it or go through a debt to acquire one from the supplier that would be chosen by the government

    Very cool transformation of a jeepney from gas to electric. Saves money on gas and saves the environment from pollution . But sadly, this new concept of a life and money saving innovation will never be in the hands of a jeepney driver in the Philippines . " They won't be able to afford such new technology " .

    They already had partnership with Sarao Motors and hopefully the Philippine government support this in line with the modernization program of puv's.

    • @karlceballos3635
      @karlceballos3635 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They already did, along with Francisco Motors, Black Hawk, Victory Leonda, Obetski, and other local jeepney makers that made the same feature.

  • @oparasatauwaya
    @oparasatauwaya 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice video! We have even better modernized jeepneys that resemble minibuses in Metro Manila now as of this year, but maybe this will help in rural areas in the govt’s ongoing #puvmodernization programme.

    HI. I love your video. May I share this to my country with re edits? TY The conversion of electric jeepneys here is very different and far from the original look. I hate that. Maybe this can re inspire our local government with this one.

    • @behindthelightthoushallris1967
      @behindthelightthoushallris1967 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      although i favor the new specifications, this looks like a middle ground for both. traditional style but modern engine. the height (standing) requirement can be compromised. we ride vans and we still need to lower our head down a little bit to get into our seats and nobody seems to be arguing that. im just not sure about the cashless transaction since the entrance is still from the back.

    • @karlceballos3635
      @karlceballos3635 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Are you sure? Modernized traditional jeepneys were already approved by the DOTr and LTFRB because the local jeepney companies put modern features on the cultural icon.
