You know what sucks most about Scholar story? You think you're learning about the Nymian lore. How the mysterious disease turned them into little rage lizards. How there is no cure. And then you literally Esuna it away and solve it in an afternoon.
Yeah that sucked a lot. I was for a long time assuming that there would be no cure and it would eventually be just them learning to accept their new Tonberry status and also other factions coming to accept them too. Since there are numerous times you help other NPC's understand they're not monsters. But nope. No real long term growth allowed.
To offer another point of view on this, I actually thought it was pretty neat that, as a 'legendary' healer we managed to figure out how to cure an incurable disease. It felt like a very healer oriented set of quests, fulfilling the fantasy of being a magical doctor in a way I don't think any of the other healer questlines do. I can totally respect your point of view on this, don't get me wrong, but I just think its helpful to offer more perspectives.
For real though combat pelaton might end up being massively op. Movment buffs are very strong... If not very interesting. And it also won't make the job flow any easier. It will still be clunky as hell job.

Well, we do still have that one skill that increases crit chance... and an AoE sprint skill for getting out of dange. But ya, we wanted the carrot and this expansion it looks like we will get the stick, again.
Logging in to Shadowbringers day 1 as a Scholar left me so broken. No Energy Drain, Miasma, Miasma 2, Bane, Fey Wind, Fey Caress, Silent Dusk, Shadow Flare, Rouse, or hope. Then I notice you can't use Aetherflow outside of combat in the first dungeon and that Art of War is ugly as all hell compared to Holy and Gravity. It was like the perfect storm to make every Scholar Main switch to dps. Im still shocked someone thought Fey Blessing was worth being part of our kit at end game.
This was hilarious and really well put together. No one else has really explained the true pain of playing SCH in such a totally accurate and cringe worthy way. Instant sub.
Having a second Scholar in the party is THE WORST! The part hits so hard. I'm just like "look at me, I'M the Scholar, your job is to just spam Physick, let me do the heavy lifting".
I usually let the other one do the healing and just spam ruin, with the occasional Lustrate on that one dude that gets hit. Unless the other one does this as well, then i enter “Succor for days” mode and use up all my mana to keep shields up on everybody.
@@AlexDuos Just for clarity it was a joke as scholars dps using Ruin spell (or they learn Broil to replace it at 54). There's still instacast Ruin 2 at level 80.
I'm still a SCH main on the pure basis nobody else probably is so my chances of hitting 2 in a group are pretty low. Plus SCH + SGE combo is actually incredibly strong for Duties imo.

As a Scholar main, I'll have to admit that this is one mostly true and very great video. Also, I love your voice! I'll also most likely stick to scholar in Endwalker. I like my fairy. May my in-combat Peloton save many random players in duty finder.

Fun story (I know this is late) But in combat sprint can absolutely be used to kill players. I had a super annoying party in Stigmascape, and for the last boss I popped the button, forced everyone to sprint through the safe zone and into the walls of the boss' Mindhack :D
I took like a 4 year break, and came back to find Selene dead, and Eos was wearing her skin like it was some kind of sick joke.. Now I find out they tried to take away Energy Drain?!
Sch is my fave class to play by far in XIV, it just clicks with me so much in terms of play style and aesthetic, which is why I am becoming a sage main in endwalker (just gimme shadowflare back I'm begging)

@@barryward2128 It was a lot more fun before the Great Homogenization. Used to be able to control when your fairy casted heals, had a bunch more DoT’s, etc. You could do things like setup macros to double heal one person, or heal two people at at same time so you didn’t overheal the whole party if only 2 people needed it, and keeping DoT’s up gave you more to do between heals than spam one damage spell.
As a SCH main since the olden days, you have given me a new perspective. My new class fantasy is the suffering that the changing landscape of war brings and how that is reflected by most of the fun enjoyable things I loved about SCH being slowly and painfully taken away until naught is left but the husk of a glammed fairy and the memory of how things used to be. Unsure if this is a good thing... but it's marginally better to have a story behind the suffering than just sitting in sad silence.
Not gonna lie, I'm glad that this video recommendation ended up being the way I learned more about SCH. I wouldn't have never known about how things have been for yall if I just went with the ways of WHM and maybe give AST and Sage a shot! Thanks for the history lesson!

The day I learned that dissipation only buff GCD healing was the day I understood why this class is for masochist I thought it was bad enough you don't get fairy gaude in dissipation and lose a bunch of off gcds but nope It's just one last cherry on top I still main it but man does desperately need a fucking rework
WHM/NIN here, I absolutely love when I queue with a SCH. It feels like we work in sync. When I queue with AST they usually go with Diurnal and just ugh, it feels like stepping on each other too even if it does stack.
So today, I queued for alliance raid and was put with a WHM. I feel like SCH and WHM kits complement each other, but this WHM didn't heal. At all. Just wanted to DPS the entire time. They didn't heal or esuna or regen the tank. THEY DIDN'T EVEN HEAL THEMSELVES. I could barely do any DPSing because I was trying to keep everyone alive, INCLUDING THEM. Thank F our tank knew how to use his own mitigations, because I was spamming adloquiem and succor to sustain the newbies. And of course, i got no commendations at the end. Next time i'll just pretend i didn't see them playing at dps and let him die.
@@vilyar122 Been there, I've just finished my SCH ARR relic and through the entirety of it I found the very bad side of healers. Yes you are correct, whm/ast wont heal if they have a sch. I've even asked if they could pop medica every once in a while, response? "If its _neccessary_ ofc" QQ
I just picked up SCH and I've been having fun, and yet I also feel the pain of Excog, and job story, and Seraph not being stronk fairy, and SO MANY OTHER THINGS but I'm having fun c: Instant sub! :D
As someone who just recently started leveling Scholar I feel this pain so much. The fairy can be really janky to use in tense situations and can be as slow as Cid in Castrum but I enjoy shield healing so I have mixed feelings about it. I also main monk so I guess I like torturing myself...
When you said Seraph's only reason for existing was consolation I legit thought you meant as a consolation *prize* lol But yeah, the Shadowbringer updates kind of killed my love for Scholar and Astrologian (I loved Astro's old tarot card mechanics, now I don't even bother looking at the card since only the signet matters. Why even bother with the tarot card theme at this point? >_>). At this point I only play scholar cause it makes leveling summoner easier, its just so dull spamming broil the whole time. I really felt your whole, being a scholar main is constant anger. God what a mood. Give me my pips back Yoshi P! Anything to break up the monotony you've turned scholar into! And let poor Selene *do* something unique! Summoner get 3 (Three!) unique pets *and* the carbuncle glamors, where's the justice for scholar? These videos are absolute GOLD!! I'm hoping to see your growth in the coming months and I'll be enjoying the shid out of Sage as well!! Every time I see 'Sage' though, I think and ponder why they didn't have the abbreviation SAG... We could have had the perfect job there... Anyways... I do hope they figure out something more interesting to add to scholar either midway through EW or in the next expansion. Shielding healing for me is my favorite healing since it helps me be active and feel like I contributed to a fight, so Sage will be my designated main for that role! RIP Schoolers, at least you have raid buffs and a slightly better fairy now...

I'm a WHM main and have always just understood and felt sympathetic for Scholars all the way back since 2.0, though I never enjoyed playing them myself but man you guys had it rough with changes. I remember at one point levelling through MSQ as Arcanist, then hitting 30. From that point on, in my case it was "being a Scholar is faster queue times' as I'd always queue my dungs and trials as SCH but quest as Summoner. DPS with insta-queues.
Selene was the real MVP. I didn't main scholar, Selene mained my dps T.T We had dots spread and a speed run fairy, we truly were our own kind of job. But now ... well now we're a good healer with resources, just hated by the devs who like to make us the laughing material with amazingly not amazing new abilities each expansions. But i'm glad that yoshi hates us, it means we will never see a deep rework that might remove all fairies and make us as boring as the others ! We are winners by being the losers.

I hate having another Scholar as a co-healer. It can work well enough if you're in coms together, but if it's a pug, I feel like we both end up being super greedy and waiting for the other to heal lol.

Scholar will still be the most useful healer while being the most underappreciated. Will still main it as healer. *Deep breath of copium*

It depends on who moves first. Whoever casts succor first claims it for the entire run, the other guy goes full DPS and maybe off heals.

The real pain of playing SCH is knowing how much fun it *used* to be.

Wow. This has some really good quality. And having "mained" SCH for a little bit, hits home.
WHM/NIN here, I absolutely love when I queue with a SCH. It feels like we work in sync. When I queue with AST they usually go with Diurnal and just ugh, it feels like stepping on each other too even if it does stack.
Same!! The more shields the other healer throws down, the more I can GLARE MAGE.
So today, I queued for alliance raid and was put with a WHM. I feel like SCH and WHM kits complement each other, but this WHM didn't heal. At all. Just wanted to DPS the entire time. They didn't heal or esuna or regen the tank. THEY DIDN'T EVEN HEAL THEMSELVES. I could barely do any DPSing because I was trying to keep everyone alive, INCLUDING THEM. Thank F our tank knew how to use his own mitigations, because I was spamming adloquiem and succor to sustain the newbies. And of course, i got no commendations at the end. Next time i'll just pretend i didn't see them playing at dps and let him die.
@@vilyar122 Been there, I've just finished my SCH ARR relic and through the entirety of it I found the very bad side of healers. Yes you are correct, whm/ast wont heal if they have a sch. I've even asked if they could pop medica every once in a while, response? "If its _neccessary_ ofc" QQ

As someone who just recently started leveling Scholar I feel this pain so much. The fairy can be really janky to use in tense situations and can be as slow as Cid in Castrum but I enjoy shield healing so I have mixed feelings about it. I also main monk so I guess I like torturing myself...
Well at least with monk it seems like you can top charts and not mangle your hands anymore? I might be wrong lol.
And then sage comes along as the superior shield healer and scholar feels...lost and looking for it's identity again.

But yeah, the Shadowbringer updates kind of killed my love for Scholar and Astrologian (I loved Astro's old tarot card mechanics, now I don't even bother looking at the card since only the signet matters. Why even bother with the tarot card theme at this point? >_>). At this point I only play scholar cause it makes leveling summoner easier, its just so dull spamming broil the whole time. I really felt your whole, being a scholar main is constant anger. God what a mood. Give me my pips back Yoshi P! Anything to break up the monotony you've turned scholar into! And let poor Selene *do* something unique! Summoner get 3 (Three!) unique pets *and* the carbuncle glamors, where's the justice for scholar?

These videos are absolute GOLD!! I'm hoping to see your growth in the coming months and I'll be enjoying the shid out of Sage as well!! Every time I see 'Sage' though, I think and ponder why they didn't have the abbreviation SAG... We could have had the perfect job there... Anyways... I do hope they figure out something more interesting to add to scholar either midway through EW or in the next expansion. Shielding healing for me is my favorite healing since it helps me be active and feel like I contributed to a fight, so Sage will be my designated main for that role! RIP Schoolers, at least you have raid buffs and a slightly better fairy now...

I remember at one point levelling through MSQ as Arcanist, then hitting 30. From that point on, in my case it was "being a Scholar is faster queue times' as I'd always queue my dungs and trials as SCH but quest as Summoner. DPS with insta-queues.

I didn't main scholar, Selene mained my dps T.T We had dots spread and a speed run fairy, we truly were our own kind of job.
But now ... well now we're a good healer with resources, just hated by the devs who like to make us the laughing material with amazingly not amazing new abilities each expansions.
But i'm glad that yoshi hates us, it means we will never see a deep rework that might remove all fairies and make us as boring as the others ! We are winners by being the losers.
