Thinking of picking this one up in audiobook form next! Just finishing up Death Troopers. I'm loving getting into star wars books. Also apparently Timothy Zahn is coming to our local convention this year!!
I love your enthusiasm! And now I really want to read the book - I was not sure about the romance part, but you sold it well. Lucky it came yesterday in the mail, I guess I start reading today!
Loved Rebel Rising too. Im gonna read this book to form my own opinion but i do agree with peoples points that it is somewhat arbitrary having han and leias wedding, and also thehalcyon cruiser ad
It sounds forced in the marketing, but The inclusion of the Halcyon actually makes sense to me the way that they were able to incorporate it in the story. It also kind of makes Mon Mothma a little schemer the way she orchestrates everything.
I was really looking forward to this. My first impression, another let -down by another Disney Star Wars entry. I thought it was boring!!!! I don't think either Han or Leia were captured well at all. It was supposed to be a romance and not a good one at that. There was virtually no story and it read like fan fiction, rather than a professional novel. There are some identity politics inserted that added nothing and was a turn off. I do love the artwork. I think it's gorgeous. There are events on Endor that are amusing. I also caught the "Lost Stars" reference. (it helps I just finished that book). I agree that the love scenes or the alluding to sex was well handled and tastefully done. The alternating points of view from chapter to chapter didn't work for me. You can't build up and plug something as a romance when the two romantic leads are apart not only in the structure of the novel, but are apart through the majority of the narrative. I also listened to the audiobook. Marc Thompson does a great job, but the female narrator was very breathy and lacked emotion. It wasn't a great listen. One of the few Star Wars audiobooks I didn't care for. I had wondered if this particular book fairs better as read rather than a listen. So with that I might have a different opinion on a another read, but for now, I give it a C
Well, I read both! Agree with you completely on The Princess and the Scoundrel nailing the characterization much better- it was one of my new top favorite SW books! Loved it, so much fun! Really enjoyed the trip to Dathomir as well, LOVED the witches, Luke, and the new characters, but won’t it rank quite as high for me.

It really can be an either or situation. I don't think reading one first will be terribly important over the other.
