I swear as the OP started playing, I IMMEDIATELY flashbacked to my highschool days of watching this on a local dub channel. (Mirumo de Pon was dubbed in Tagalog on Hero TV, basically the go-to anime localization channel... aside from very other big network that also did dubs for morning an afternoon runs for as early as the early 90s before Toonami reached us.)
omg, I remember that channel so vividly, always was so eagar to watch digimon, GA art, and an anime about a cat mom with lots of adopted children every evening
Ohh, maybe if it did come to North America in 2001-2005 it would've came through 4Kide, KidsWB- ABCKids? maybe Toonami or Nickelodeon... It didn't, but I'd totally have a flashback too if I saw it on one of those! 😂
i'm from Latinoamerica and my sister and i were OBSSESED with this show, i remember asking her to record a few episodes on a VHS tape (we recorded the beach episode and i don't remember what else) and i also sang the OP in front of my class once (it was very cringey, girl did NOT know how to sing), it's kind of insane to know that the Latin American dub is mostly lost media now, and it's part of the reason i want to try and fix our VHS player to see if i have any lost episode recorded somewhere. Thank you for talking about this show! I didn't know about the new manga but i hope that Mirmo becomes bigger so we can get the rest of the show translated as well as maybe a new anime for the new serialization 👀lemme dream big
too bad it's lost 😟 as far as i know the brazilian portuguese dub is preserved, well at least the 1st season i know it is, i hope the latin spanish dub is found
This was HUGE in Brazil. Pretty sure the whole series was fully dubbed in portuguese. So funny to see someone english speaking talking about it. But it brought up great memories! ♥️♥️
As an Italian I remember watching this cartoon every day with my sister after eating lunch at our grandparents' house. Can't believe Americans didn't get to watch it
You'd be suprised by how many popular animes in Italy weren't really known in the US or even Japan itself. Attacker You (Mila e Shiro) was a banger in Italy and other European countries, but it somehow flew under the radar in Japan.
as a kid I used to watch Mirmo on italian tv in the afternoons after school, I even remember seeing him on school merch and toys all the time growing up. Can't believe this silly little guy wasn't as popular in other parts of the world.
you unlocked a memory, I used to watch it all the time, and even my little brother has a "Mirmo inspired" name (not really but he has a close enough name that we called that with my sister)
I used to watch this as a child on DVDs in Portugal, I remember the Halloween/haunted house episode from season 1 very vividly! The theme song and ending are also very present in my head (noticed your background music). So nostalgic...
The teacher student relation thing was handled well in my opinion, the way the students gossiped and looked grossed out, the ominous music, it all was hinting that something was wrong and this "love story" shouldn't be praised.

Oh god, you just unlocked a long forgotten memory, this show was also dubbed in German and I loved it as well. This was just one of those cute and fun animes that cant be taken too serious.
I am so surprised that you mentioned this. I live in the English speaking Caribbean, and our US Cartoon Network randomly got swapped with the Latin American Cartoon Network up until maybe 2009? When you mentioned the cruise, I knew it had to have been to Latin America or the Caribbean, because I mainly hear about Mirmo in Spanish-speaking communities. But I remember watching this, Nadja, Kaleido Star and a lot of other anime that aired in Spanish (some shows aired in English, strangely enough). Nadja has some popularity in the English-speaking west, but Kaleido Star and Mirmo are definitely forgotten by time unless you grew up in regions where it aired. Mirmo's opening theme was burned into my head, and that clip seriously took me back, I still remember the lyrics. I understood the basic plot setups for each episode and it was a fun show. I kept waiting for Kaede to get her magical girl item and transform, but it never came and I was so confused because the setup for the show was exactly like a magical girl one. Really fun show regardless. I missed out on Toonami and Sailor Moon when it aired on CN, but I'm pretty glad I got to become familiar with stuff like Mirmo and Nadja. We even got the non-4Kids dub (this was also strangely in English) of Winx Club on CN LA.
Just the other day I was in a shop that had a couple of unsold Mirmo backpacks in the clearance section 😅 It made me feel so nostalgic since I loved that show when I was a kid and it was a big hit in Italy! However, maybe it's because of its episodic nature but I barely remembered the story. What I do remember is the italian opening sung by Cristina D'avena. A BOP. I still listen to it.
I've never watched this anime but I remember back in the early Wild West days of the internet, I remember stumbling across the opening to Wagamama Fairy Mirumo de Pon Wonderful (not the OG series I think?) and falling in love with it on a site that is most definitely gone by now so this was a super interesting video to see what I missed out on
Awww yes!! I loved Mirumo, it was huge here in Italy! ✨ I used to watch it with my little brother when he was a tiny baby and he loved it when i called him Murumo 🥺🩷 Thank you Imani for covering this! 💕
omg this makes me want to watch itttt 🥺🩷🫶 the part with teacher had me cringing so hard though 😂 idk why 2000s animes loveeeee that trope, its so uncomfortable and wrong 😭😭😭 your editing was peak 🤭🩷🫶 ps I love your blue and green makeup look!!
I was SO obsessed with Mirmo and DoReMi as a kid... (I'm from southern Spain and it aired here) I always loved colorful characters when they were together and doing silly or magical stuff ;w; I love that Mirmo gets some recognition with this video, thank you 💖
As a portuguese viewer, I was completely in love with it when I was a little kid. It was hilarious, I was said that it only had part of the first season translated, I remember searching for it with subtitles to watch the rest of the series, truly a part of my childhood.
The singer of the Latinamerican opening song, Claudia Bramnfsette (Spanish voice of Tasha from Backyardigans and Ochako in the My Hero Academia films) is currently still singing! She holds streams every weekend and she sings the song if you ask!
Ohhh Mirmo Zibang! Yeah, it was kinda popular with kids that had cable tv here in Brazil haha (together with other anime like Kaleido Star and Ashita no Nadja). I have a custom-printed mug with the pattern from Mirmo's mug, it was a gift from my aunt.
This was a fun dive into a fairy anime that's under the radar ^^ The plushie of the main fairy you got is super cute ^^ Maybe I'll give it a go sometime ^^ Great video as always ^^
"Soy pastelera de amor y te voy a encantar!", I used to watch this show religiously, it was my go to after school. Thank you for bringing back the memories. Greetings from México by the way.
YAYY ITS HEREEE i was so excited for this video when you were teasing it!! Mirumo de Pon was one of those animes I was obsessed with when i was in elementary school but never really got to fully indulged on it since there were barely any eps available to watch in ENG online. I opted to just watching the OPs and imagining what the show was about LOL Thank you for making this video!!!
what i love about this anime is that despite the large cast, they're able to balance the human and muglox plots really well without making it feel weird or drawn out
omggggg im from latam and i watched this in the mid 2000s and completely forgot the name of this 😭😭😭 so many memories just came back to me, I remember how much I used to LOVE it, thank you for making this video 🙏🏽
You're the only person I've ever seen discuss this show. This was one of my favorite animes from cartoon Network in Mexico. It was never fully completed in lantin American Spanish but it was fully dubbed in Spain Spanish and once upon a time it was complete on TH-cam, now I can barely find any episodes online. This show was such a gem and I wish it were rereleased to streaming services or something.
Im from Spain, and one of the areas of Spain (Valencia) had this series on their local TV. I'm not from thst area, but from a neighbour one, close enough that I still got the TV signal. It was on their local language, but thanks to god I could speak it, because I would never had noticed this series otherwise.
In the Philippines, we had a show on Hero TV-an anime channel. It was dubbed in Tagalog and completed up to season 4. Kaede is Katie, Yuki is Dylan, Asumi is Asumi, and Matsutake is Kyle. Season 4 is the best so far because of the introduction of two characters: Yuki's childhood friend, who has a crush on him, and a boy who has a crush on Kaede, who has a better chance of ending up with her. It's so good! The romantic elements are highlighted in Season 4. It's unfortunate that it's not available online.
I'm from the south east asia department, and I loooved Mirumo de pon! I remember roleplaying that I can be like the MC (when she becomes small and gains wings) and do stuff like that with my imaginary love interest LMFAO Guess I'm lucky to have seen it dubbed in Filipino. I never realized how niche this anime was until I heard you talk about it! Thanks for reminding me this great showww
oh my goodness, I clicked so fast when I saw the thumbnail in my recommended vids! I'm from Brazil, and although I was probably "too old" for this anime (I was probably around 15 I think?), I LOVED Mirmo Zibang, it was just so silly and cute! I still know the BR dub versions of the OP and EN songs by heart. The 2000's had so many obscure animes like that, I was OBSESSED about Kaleido Star, for example. This was such a cool video, thank you for this nostalgic trip down memory lane, haha
I love mirumo de pon so much! I even had all the songs memorized lol. I also had a big plush too but had to leave it in when i moved to a new country. It was weirdly big in Asia that Mcdonalds, Jollibee and other fast food chains sold toys with the kid's meals. Ahh i wish they remake this series or at least rerelease it in north america. I remember crying so hard on when it ended too!
I went into this video interested in learning about an anime I had never seen before, or so I thought, and came out with forgotten memories of seeing on tv as a child in Colombia. Thanks.
i grew up between living in america and taiwan and omg... I had so many backpacks, pencil cases, t-shirts from Mirumo and I had no idea it was popular anywhere else. I might have to watch it now just because I never knew what it was called
I watched Mirumo when I was really young, and later revisited the show to notice how it was even better than what I remembered, but also to my disappointment finding out that it there were no dub nor subtitles I could find after some point. I also never heard someone talk about this show, and its good to know there are more people around there who liked Mirumo as much as I. Anime of this quality should certainly get more attention, be studied and preserved for future generations! My favourite character was Azumi, and the one I liked the least was Yuuki! I really, really loved the world, the art and the music!!
OMG! I have been trying to remember what this anime was called for years now. I remember watching it when i visited my cousins in Mexico when I was like in 2nd grade. Omg thank you.
Watching this sent me back to the early 2000s, where I discovered this series completely by accident while on a trip to Japan. My host family taped Mermaid Melody Pichipichi Pitch for me and Mirumo De Pon just happened to come on after, so they taped that, too. And the rest was history. I bought so much merch on that trip, including all the manga that was out, a few DVDs of the first season, and even one of the GBA games. I was even lucky enough to be there when the duet CDs came out. I was super hoping it would come out over here, too, but it was not meant to be. And yes, Matsutake was the best of the main humans. Man, now I want to dig out my CD collection and see if I can find the soundtrack....
My lil' sis loved this one. It was some of her first anime, alongside Inuyasha and Hamtaro. Thanks a lot for showcasing this one, so other might find about it and enjoy it too.💜
Thank you so much for finally making me remember this series. I swear these fairies are always in the back of mind BUT HAVE NO IDEA WHERE THEY CAME FROM💀 This was airing in the Philippines in Tagalog dub and me and mom would always watch it!! we still have the mcdonalds toys and some of them still work lol
Hey! New subscriber here! I found your channel through this video and oh my god I could not believe my eyes when I saw a thumbnail for a review of MIRMO ZIBANG of all things!!! This show was my entire childhood, thank you so much for the hard work you put into making this video! Looking forward to more videos of yours!
I'm from the Philippines and this anime aired there on a local cable channel every weekdays and me and my siblings watched it a lot. We used to have the first OP memorized as well! They had the names of some characters changed and I believe it's cause they based their translations from a foreign dub and not directly from the Japanese dub (since I've seen some foreign sites way back then list the same renames used in our dub). When the final episode aired, I remember panicking that I couldn't watch it cause there was a blackout (but the elctricity went back on just in time in the middle of the final episode). I don't know where you found the other seasons of this online but it's cool you did. I tried months ago and only found the first season and some of the epiosodes on youtube. I feel like, this show really must be underrated if even pirate sites don't have it in it's entirety lol. This reminds me that around that time as well, there's another fairy anime (not a magical girl one) that also aired with the same idea about fairies using musical instruments to make magic. It makes me wonder now if people knew about A Little Snow Fairy Sugar cause that one has all it's episodes available online.
What a good little dive into the series, even with somewhat limited resources! It's funny, maybe last year or so, I randomly remembered this series and tried to read it. The manga scans I found were old af and pretty low quality, both visually and in translation. I dropped it in the early chapters because of this. But I remember thinking it was pretty weird how little info there is on this series all these years later. Seems like something people would go back to and commit to. I thought it was a classic. I would love if a team picked up the series up because of this video! The teacher section is so....(sigh). I had hope when he talked to Kaede. Man. That part of the video was so well done btw. Showing your reactions to each story beat was so real. This trope, too, is a stain on the shojo/magical girl genre. (LOOKS AT CLAMP)
GIRL I HAD NO IDEA THIS ANIME NEVER MADE IT TO THE USA!!!!! No wonder my American friends never knew about it, people from Latin America still remember it fondly, the Mexican opening also just hits different! thank you for bringing me on this trip to memory lane Diva!
mexican here, god i loved this show when i was little, the opening it's still living rent free in my brain to this day. also looks like most of the dub is now lost media
Oh my GOD I forgot about this!!! I used to watch this one as a kid EVERY DAY. This channel had a block right after lunch that would air both mirumo(localized as mirmo) and Sgt frog(keroro) back to back! Iirc, jewelpet was airing during that time on a different channel too. Italian kids were eating good during those years :')
One of the reasons why I loved TV back in the day was being able to catch and watch shows and movies I would have never of otherwise. I didn't think I'd watch all of Mirmo as a kid but the funny and sweet moments got me hooked, I remember watching marathons during the weekends and debating whether I should watch Mirmo or Cyber Cat Kurochan.
It aired on my local TV station in English when my sister and I were kids, and watching some episodes were enough to convince our parents to buy a CD pack of 6 episodes (which came with additional Japanese audio). I remember a few of them: being stuck in a haunted mansion due to the relentless blizzard; a board game where everyone competed to get tickets to a theme park; Dylan (Yuki) being a replacement actor for some star who got soccer ball'd in the face. I used to watch them over and over... Good times.
This was a really good break down. I also really liked the little bits too. The inner thoughts and the boy is mine tune lol. I want to watch this now. Will you ever do a full break down on ojamajo doremi season by season? With character break downs? Wait and not the teacher liking the lead instead. Wth? He had us in the first half with the “we have a teacher student relationship” 💀
I thought for sure I was subscribed. Oh well, better late than never. Also, I know it’s important (and hilariously entertaining) if Doreiamni uploads. Much love from Texas! ❤
oh gosh, this was literally my childhood! I was fortunate enough to watch Mirumo from start to finish because this aired on Cartoon Network here in the Philippines. Plus, a local anime channel called Hero TV also aired this in Tagalog. Coincidentally, both versions aired the same episodes on the same day. I was able to watch the same episode twice both in English and Tagalog. if i ever missed the Tagalog one which aired in the afternoon, I can still watch it in English in the evening. I'm just glad Stardust Fansubs is still working on this. For the longest time, there were only 37 episodes fansubbed.

I've always wanted to get around to this one!
OMG! I remember being obsessed with this show back in 5th grade pretending to have fairies from mugs with my bestie at the time. 🙈🙈🙈
in spain we translate the whole series we are one of the countries that aired all the episodes
Mirumo de Pon is also based on an eponymous manga by Hiromu Shinozuka.
Thank you for covering this anime. I’m originally from Latin America and I think about this thing on a daily basis. It feels like a fever dream
I loved Mirmo so much as a child!!
This show is party childhood, happy to see someone covering it.
Imani, Basic Boi, and Colleen blessing my Saturday feed like the holy trinity. 👏
the way i had all of sayori and the teacher wiped from my brain omg (idk why but i remember him as a much older student, not a full on teacher 😭😭😭)
22:30 this is crazyyyyyyy
the auto generated captions got mirmo and kaede’s names wrong but i love how it got darku correct (or i assume it did atleast)
I REMEMBER THIS AHHH , THANK U FOR TALKING ABT ITTT
6:30 Revolutionary Girl Utena is free on youtube, uploaded legally!! all 39 episodes! you NEED to go finish it, it's the best thing ever
I didn't think I'd watch all of Mirmo as a kid but the funny and sweet moments got me hooked, I remember watching marathons during the weekends and debating whether I should watch Mirmo or Cyber Cat Kurochan.
god you brought it up from the back of my mind i loved it when i was younger thank you
loved mirmo
OMG THANK YOU, IVE BEEN TRYING TO REMEMBER THE NAME OF THIS ANIME AND NONE OF MY FRIENDS EVER KNOWS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT
As an italian kid i loooved Mirmo and collected the plastic figurines (lamincards) 💕
Good times.
mirmo was so gooddd, omg i didn't even remember it existed
This was a really good break down. I also really liked the little bits too. The inner thoughts and the boy is mine tune lol. I want to watch this now. Will you ever do a full break down on ojamajo doremi season by season? With character break downs?
Wait and not the teacher liking the lead instead. Wth? He had us in the first half with the “we have a teacher student relationship” 💀
It was actually pretty famous here in Latino America. Me and my Husband still sing this song at random time as an inside joke 😂
Oh! I have a few episodes of Mirmo on a VHS my grandmother recorded for me :)
