Those were great. Thanks for those. I was at the AFC Championship against Oakland. That was my first ever Dolphins game. I was two months away from my 10th Birthday.

Sweet. No $5,000,000 commercials or an hour halftime show. Just some football.
    I like it.

The locker room blackboard had the words "Best Ever"

I can't thank you enough. Living in Miami at the time none of the home games were shown on TV. So my 12 year old self huddled with an AM radio and listened to Rick Weaver who was a great play by play man.

The original 13...my fave Dolphin player, Free Safety Jake Scott

What a joy to watch RG Larry Little, C Jim Langer and LG Bob Kuechenberg work...three HOF'ers there.

Kuech was never elected. It's a crying shame.

The Vikings had one of the greatest defensive lines in NFL history, and Miami's offensive line completely dismantled it. Total domination.

Those 5 linemen were all cast-offs from other teams

Thanks Richard for this upload. I was only a Small Toddler baby in January 1974, so of course I did not see this game live. With that said, this is the first time I seen an extended video of this game.
Now I see why many NFL/Sports Historians and Commentators/Analysts state this 1973-‘74 Dolphins Team was much better than even the historic Undefeated Championship Team a year earlier.
And the Fish lead by Shula defeated to date (as of 2024)probably the best Vikings club in team history in a blowout despite Miami losing 2 games in the regular season.

As a toddler you missed the games live , Correct I watched live both seasons when on TV , Statistically the 1972 team led in every category , a feat not even the 1973 team could match , They finished 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 and 17 - 0 , Nobody has equaled that Perfection in NFL History .

That's what Shula thought too - better than the 72 team. They only barely beat the Vikings that year as opposed to dominating them in 73-74. They also breezed thru the playoffs much easier over better teams.

I don’t know the timestamps of touchdowns,

Not sure what your question is. The time remaining in the quarter after each touchdown is announced by Rick Weaver and also shown on the graphic drive chart scoreboard.

The Vikes never showed up fr any of their SB losses, still stings to this day. Love seeing real football and the "I" formation, not the watered down crap they call football now. Lots of HOF'ers from both teams. Tickets were 15.00 dollars for this game.

i know i don't have to remind you that this year is the 40th anniversary of Dan's spectacular 1984 season. Any plans for this coming season?

Maybe. Posting the '71, '72, and '73 seasons was a major effort. So we'll see about '84.

The only SB played with a striped football. They would use them on occasion up until 1975, usually for late day games past November or the occasional night game when stadiums did not have the quality lighting they have now. It helped the recievers see the ball better on passes. The striped footballs always looked fatter. They must have went with them for this SB because of the clouds and the bit of fog. This stadium and Stanford Stadium for SB-19 had to be the crappiest stadiums ever used for SB's.

Minnesota was down 14-0 in the 1st quarter, and their only hope was that Garo Yepremian might try another of his famous passes.

    • @brianarbenz1329
      @brianarbenz1329 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

In seriousness, though, Garo suffered great disappointment that day -- of all days -- because his wife had a miscarriage. He noticed she wasn't in the stands during the second half, and found out after the game why.

Shula doesn't get as much credit as he should for his innovations...the Dolphins were the first team to run a hybrid 3-4/4-3 defense with their 53 defense (Bob Matheson's number)...he would either line up at defensive end or outside LB depending on the play call. No team really found a fix against it in the entire '73 season.

The Vikes were always wound too tight for their SB games. I put that on Bud Grant.
