Add my Panasonic Plasma TH-C50HD18 to the list of now working TVs because of your video. It had a LSEP1260 MX (silkscreened on the left side with the MX ink stamped in a white box) power board. Symptom was TV turned off while watching. No sign of life. No LED light and no clicking sound. Awesome video. Thanks for the well done troubleshooting with the multimeter, Fixed my dead 5 yr old Panasonic Plasma TH-C50HD18. One fuse was blown and the Q406 mosfet was shorted. Everything else checked out as shown in the video. Bought the parts thru Digikey IXFQ60N50P3-ND Mosfet and a F4612-ND Fuse. Thought about soldering on a fuse holder as the leads on the fuse were a pain to desolder.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! This fix worked perfectly - from the part numbers to the desoldering/soldering. Saved me a bundle and my plasma is back up and running!
Great video. Just amazes me how you know exactly which part to test out of all the hundreds of parts in a tv. I would be going crazy trying to check every item and then give up in frustration after not finding problem..
Thank you for doing these, I really enjoy watching and learning from them. The way you describe the troubleshooting process makes it easy to understand what's going on.
Yeah...I wasn't nearly as lucky: the FET, the large diodes (mine had only 2), the large ceramic resistors, plus R493/R439 had gone. Based on this, I replaced the IC and Q404 as well but it still blew the FET again....really annoying and have no clue what's causing it :|
I have this tv and tested the mosfet. There is no short on the mosfet or the rectification diodes. There is not any voltage acrossthe annodes of the rectifier diodes though. Also, the relays do not click when the tv is plugged in. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
i have the th-42px75u with same problem my ? is how do you test the fuses n my other ? is where did you get that solder sucker that you used in this video whats the name of it
Great video. I had the same problem shorted MOFET transistor RJK5020, I did replace it but I did not change the 3 diodes as they are still good. I also found that the bridge rectifier is no good either and replaced it. All capacitors seem too be ok, I just checked them with the multimeter that I have which only measures up to 33 uF so for some big capacitors I only see the number shoots over the range and I expect it is good. When I plug in the power and did not get any voltage between the cathode of the diode and the hot ground as you did in your video and when I push the power button the fuses blown off again. I just wonder whether you could help me here, thanks a lot for your time.
Hi norcal, I have a Panasonic TH-50PX80A plasma. This unit has 2 red blinking lights with no picture. The power supply board on my TV is different to this one here. I am wondering if you have any information on which parts to replace. My guess is it is very similar to the TV on this vid. If I know which parts to replace then I can do it myself, as I have repaired a Samsung the same way. I am no expert, just handy with a soldering iron! Thank you in advance.
I replaced mosfet with IXFQ60N50P3, Diodes with MUR460RLG and the fuses. Panel now starts up - good picture and sound - but shuts down again after a few minutes - RED light flashes 10 times. What voltages should I be seeing at P6 and P7 pins. What is most likely cause of this defect.
I replaced the part as shown. When I turn the power on I see the 390 volts but then I hear clicking and the voltage begins to drop and I get 7 red light blinking. Any suggestions. Jerry Sallazar
I have the Panasonic TH-50PX80U model . When plugging the unit on I get a blinking standby light that blinks 10 times. I can hear the clicks that you mention in your video when trying to turn it on but I get nothing on my screen. Any suggestions.
Great video. My tv failed before apparently same issue. They charged hundreds to fix. I'm fairly handy testing and soldering. My only question. You mention early on a need to replace the two fuses. But no mention or video regarding those fuses. Is is necessary to replace. Thanks so much. Tom
can you help me please? lol, working on a lg tv power supply board model EAY41360901..i bought a repair kit that includes a few mosfets, fuses etc, i accidentally started unscrewing one mosfet that was not one in the kit and the area around the screw broke..the lettering on it reads FCF20B60 8A 17N . I cannot find one in the US.. is there one that is comparable that i can use as a replacement? i know nothing about mosfets but i know with caps, you can use a higher uf as long as the volts are the same, hoping these have the same flexibility, please let me know asap ty!
I have a TH-42PX70A the set has lost picture intermittently and retained sound do you think this may be a similar problem with power supply in your video, I would appreciate your comment Bill
HI Norcal, I have a TH-42PZ77U that has a dead short also just like this. It's a different board but similar.. I have fixed a lot of pannys and I'm starting to repair at a component level.. I'm sure the problem is a FET somewhere abut I can't seem to find the source. I'm an electrician by trade and I'm starting to teach myself electronics though I still don't fully understand it all.. Anyway, this is a very similar problem that you describe in the video.. Both 10amp fuses were blown, I replaced them and one blew out again right away when I plugged it in.. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
mine turns off after about 30 of it being on and it blinks 4 lights the power sos i took it to a tec. and said that theres no repair what do you think ?
Thats a great video very informative i my self is a mechanic on submarines im a family man of 6 great boys but my tv has stoped working after 8 good years of service and i would love to keep it and keep it running the problem you just fixed was for the no blinking lights but mine is just a single blink every 5 or 10 seconds i am so lost on where to start some of my research has pointed to the stb 5v or 15v i would realy apreciate some guidence
Hi, Great Video. Was wondering if you could advise me on my issue. My Panasonic TH-42PH10UK has the Two Light Blink of Death. But both fuses are ok on the power board. The three relays click on in succession and then click off. If I press the power button a few times the relays stay on and I here a little buzzing on the right board with the capacitors on it. And then it powers back off. In need of help to solve the mystery :-) Thanks, NJ Poolman
hi i have a panasonic th-37ph10uk high def board tnpa4268 well the monitor goes on no flashing lights but just white screen and flickerd on for one minute saw picture was great then went back to white screen.
I realize this is an old video and getting a response is a long shot but hey worth a try. I've never attempted anything like this so forgive me for not knowing any terminology, but I thought that you only needed to remove that one white rectangular object. And replace some diodes and fuses. But then you skipped to the next scene and you had a completely empty board it seems. So I'm a little confused.
Love your videos. Clear, concise, without talking down to your viewers. One minor thing, though...I cringe every time I hear you say "Tom, Lincoln, Nancy" instead of "Tango, Lima, November." It's like listening to old re-runs of Adam-12. Please take a few minutes to learn the International Phonetic Alphabet. Ciao!
I found that an e-book from Jestine Yong was a good way to start learning about power supply repair and component testing. Just search google for "power supply repair guide"
Power supplies are about the only thing that can be fixed in these crappy new televisions. Surprised the manufacturers have not found a way to seal them so they cannot be serviced.
i have same problem.. relays click.. led light blinks 12 times.. really don't know where to troubleshoot. mosfet and diodes and fuses seem ok on the powerboard. any help will be apreciated.
Fantastic Video as ALWAYS Norcal715 I often wonder exactly WHY you NEVER ever respond to any comments at all? is that called a cold solder joint when you soldered the mosfet and 3 diode ???
Picked up one of these models the other day and replaced the transistor and fuses and now have another TV with a great picture. Thanks!
I love your troubleshooting and repair videos :)
Great video.... westinghouse tv problems
Great video. Just amazes me how you know exactly which part to test out of all the hundreds of parts in a tv. I would be going crazy trying to check every item and then give up in frustration after not finding problem..
Years of troubleshooting experience. That's all.

Thank you for doing these, I really enjoy watching and learning from them.

hi good day i have a tv model # TH-42PX80U AND IT COMING AND CUTTING OF AT SAME TIME, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ITS THE MAIN POWER BOARD IS THE PROBLEM?
Yeah...I wasn't nearly as lucky: the FET, the large diodes (mine had only 2), the large ceramic resistors, plus R493/R439 had gone. Based on this, I replaced the IC and Q404 as well but it still blew the FET again....really annoying and have no clue what's causing it :|
i have a panasonic th-42px75 it not coming on the power light is on so i want to kno wat board to buy
I need help with s3k 81, what is the alternative?
nice video norcal .do you think you can teach me how to test components.
You saved me buddy! Great video! Fixed my TV!!!
I have this tv and tested the mosfet. There is no short on the mosfet or the rectification diodes. There is not any voltage acrossthe annodes of the rectifier diodes though. Also, the relays do not click when the tv is plugged in. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
So if I have and etch broken how do I repair. It seems that wire needed would be awful small. Thoughts appreciated.
Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge.I am trying to teach myself repair. Can you recommend any good manuals/books to help. Thanks again.

If I test the resistor on the back of the board where the solder is will it show the short between all three leads.
Do you use Lead Free solder or Lead Tin solder??
my board has only 2 diodes. should i put all three ?

I think the capacitor nearby nolonger works by shorting out . That cause the relay does not have enough energy to hold the switch on
I replaced the part as shown. When I turn the power on I see the 390 volts but then I hear clicking and the voltage begins to drop and I get 7 red light blinking. Any suggestions. Jerry Sallazar
Whats is name and model number of soldering iron you use
I am checking to see if you may have parts for a Phillips Model 32PFL3505D
I have the Panasonic TH-50PX80U model . When plugging the unit on I get a blinking standby light that blinks 10 times. I can hear the clicks that you mention in your video when trying to turn it on but I get nothing on my screen. Any suggestions.
if the voltage meausure in power mode on is 250V we should change the same transistor?
Whats the name of your replacemnet mosfet?
I dont twant to replace it with same rjk5010

What's the best website for getting the service manuals that tell you exactly what components to check?

I have a Panasonic TH-42PX75 U blinking red light in front can hear a clic in the power supply boardshould replace the hole board?
No. There s no cold solder joints on that mos or the diodes. Take a second look on that pads and you will see why the solder joints form like that.
mine turns off after about 30 of it being on and it blinks 4 lights the power sos i took it to a tec. and said that theres no repair what do you think ?

Love the videos. I've been learning a lot. Where did you get circuit diagram from? Did you have to pay the manufacturer?
Must be a secret.
Why my plasma tv same model th-42PV80h only display a black screen? What should i do?
Do you have a voltmeter? can you check the Va/Vs voltages from the power supply board?
Has anyone ever had a response from Norcal
*Thanks for the video, this makes fixing my old Panasonic Viera easy.*

Wait a minute, maybe I'm an idiot. Maybe that's the back of the board haha. Still only part ways through the video I guess I'll find out.
I have faith
