Tough-as-nails vertical shmup that features some excellent artwork; I absolutely loved the art style and vibrant palette on show here.
The actual shooting action is pretty good, overall. The game obfuscates its shoot 'em up credentials behind the veil of its sword & & sorcery aesthetics quite cleverly; different spells offer tactical advantages over certain enemies and ability to choose abilities on the fly is a welcome feature.

I swear there is always a new game I never heard of on the Genesis I find out decades later then have to track down. Such an amazing system.

Yeah, and also it's the same for the Super Nintendo/Super Famicom. Just when you think you're done collecting you find out about some random Japanese game that us Americans can play without knowing Japanese.

Sega Megadrive/Genesis 16-bit console was a fantastic console. I will test this game on the mini :)
Unique take on a SHMUP, where you’re on the ground instead of in the air/space. Nice find!

This game is basically perfect
Never seen this game - found it by looking up the music track and what game is it from.
Pretty good game. An interresting variation of star fighter game style. Quite interesting storyline. Very interesting concept. Variation in weapons and alt fire styles. Plenty of enemies variety in levels. And of course very good music! Well put together game!

that's crazy I would hit the last guy with the elemental power at least 6 times I never seen him go out that fast
Feels like Undead Line's easier bro. Medieval dark fantasy on-foot smups w/selectable stages and rockin music. Difference is that difficulty. EM is a great shmup for newcomers or casual fun, pretty easy relative to others in the genre. On the other end UL is one of the hardest shmups ever made (at least the MD version).
I had this game. Fun but difficult.

I wish there were more games on the Sega Genesis/Megadrive of this same quality. 😐 The programmers went all out here… they accomplished exactly what the game system was supposed to do, which was bring the 80s "arcade experience" home. Some Genesis/Megadrive games exceed this one, but unfortunately most don't match it.
