Restoration of antique brass mask
In this video I will be restoring a corroded antique brass mask that I bought from a second-hand market and looks very historic, Over the past period of time, I have been keen on finding things like this to restore, and this is a wonderful challenge for me.
I like to polish and repair things by hand, without using power tools, and although the process is tedious and takes a lot of time, I am very satisfied with the result, and this ancient brass mask is undoubtedly amazing.
I'm passionate about polishing everything to mirror smoothness and restoring them to their former glory.

Any resemblance to an antique brass mask, was lost the second you attacked it with caustic soda and abrasive media. Shame as the verdigris added character to the piece.

Usually I like when old things are restored. Sadly, if the piece was real, by removing the patina you destroyed it's historical value. If it is a reproduction, I think the patina made the piece more interesting and attractive (imo). Should have left this one alone.

You don’t, if you are smart. That green layer is called a patina, and it is part of the history of the piece.
