This song is romantic, peaceful, sad & depressing at the same time. I'm sure if Jack & Rose actually existed in real life, the tragedy would've broken our hearts into fragments.
Yash Kataria there were similar people in real life, life a young married couple, she was pregnant, he let her go away in a boat, he was found dead days later.. His child never knew him :(
Nisha Aliya grazer she never let Go. It wasn’t about letting Jack Go. It was about never letting Go of that promise she Made with Jack. And she never let Go of that promise. :) But besides that i really like your ‘quote’
As they went down with the ship, Jack was still happy that he'd won that ticket; what was important to him was that he found Rose. Though he died, he wasn't in anguish, at least visibly. He wasn't regretful. He'd found Rose and wanted for her to live on. His last sight was a woman he loved deeply and who he wanted to live even if it meant he wouldn't. I'm not sure I'd go as far to say he was happy in those last moments, but I do think he was content. Rose was something concrete in life that he finally found, and his last effort was to ensure her survival. He would've passed looking at somebody he felt something for that he never found in anybody else. Despite so much time passing since the sinking, she never did forget him. I'm sure she moved far beyond those tragic events, going on the marry somebody else, having children, and living what seems to be a fruitful life, but Jack, even in those short days, had an everlasting impact on her. It really breaks me when she says that Jack only exists as a memory. It's a concept so difficult to accept, that people can slip away with no record of their existence at all and only hang on by something as fragile as memories. The diamond was the only material memory she had of him. She'd never know what life would be like had Jack survived, and I think she did still love Jack in a sense. Privately cherishing those memories was a way for her to continue that bond. He saved her physically, mentally, and spiritually, and that’s something you’d always hold onto. So one thing that makes me the most sad is how deep down, I think she longed for Jack because of everything he did for her. He showed her that there is a life out there worth living and gave her her first feeling of romantic love in an environment where she felt like she was drowning with no will over anything. That doesn’t mean her love with her husband after the fact wasn’t legitimate. It’s similar to when you lose a family member, you always carry them with you, and while you will eventually be able to feel the joys in life again, the pain of the loss is always somewhere deep inside. Your love for somebody is never the same as it is with another. I've seen this movie several times now-when I was a kid, as a teenager, shortly after I started university, and again in my early twenties. I see it differently each time and feel different emotions. It truly is a beautiful movie, and the soundtrack is just something else. This particular piece, to me, is a mixture of many feelings: of vulnerability, the shimmers of newfound love, of excitement, of trust, of hope. Yet, pieces like these convey feelings no words can fully capture. They really bring this movie to life and touch me deeply. Thank you, James Horner.
Today I watched Titanic on the big screen for its 25th anniversary and naturally, I am an emotional wreck on the inside. I can't describe what a dream it was, I was born after the release of the film so I had never had the chance to screen it at the cinema however I had seen it on my computer. I took a train downtown, (Friday, freezing cold weather) and went by myself and had purposely chosen an earlier time so it would be mainly deserted. It started at 12:10 pm and of 174 seats in the room, only 11 were occupied. Because I was alone, I was free to cry as much as I pleased without fear of anyone intruding. I enjoyed it so much and let myself feel without limit, let myself laugh in happiness and sob during moments of sadness without calculating my actions and it was the best cinematic experience of my life. I believe everyone should try to screen this film alone at least once, it's an unbelievable experience. On the train ride home, I listened to the soundtrack, specifically, The Portrait and Rose by James Horner, such beautiful and moving pieces that take you right back as the film plays on in your mind. The story behind this piece is very heartwarming. Horner called the original version of the track, performed by himself on the piano, "Sketch" as it was an outline of what he wanted his main theme to be. Cameron saw and heard it and misunderstood the title, as he thought it was written for the famous sketching scene, and suggested it be used there as he felt it was perfect as it was, to Horner's amused surprise. There are actually 3 titanic movies. The first came out in 1953. Then it was one named A Night to Remember. I can't really remember the later one but the one from 1953 also has a young love in it. I figure Cameron took some of that movie to make this one. It's also a good movie. Too many similarities for him to have not seen it.

titanic sunk in 1912, but always ships and lives in the heart of the people who love this movie
James horner made this movie epic with his compositions
The movie is seriously not as good if he didnt do the music
I wish I could meet James Horner and talk about this musical masterpiece for hours. I am in a really bad place in my life being alone 24/7 and music like this is so sad and reliving at the same time. I wish I could go to heaven because nothing on this planet gives me hope anymore. James and Chester Bennington are people from music I would love to meet in heaven.
I'm in a bad place in my life too. Sometimes when I'm up very late I'll play songs that really touch me and actually cry. This is one of them
Another beautiful song to me is Come Back as a Flower by Stevie Wonder
In coming 100 years, for sure no one can create a music like this, only few knows how this music touch's their hearts.
Are you stupid?
I agree with you. I can't imagine in this day and age someone being able to conceptualize a song like this. This music today leaves much to be desired.
this is the best piece out of the whole soundtrack ahhhh
God this song touch your haert like no other person could
Now I can’t be the only one who cried outta nowhere while listening to this
Jack dead for rose
Rose alive for jack
😭🖤
this music has make me crying every time when i listen💔
Such a beautiful tune and film...❤️❤️
I want to play this song , In front of this world , Only to give Respect to my Idol james Horner ❤
Makes me smile 🙂
So peaceful 🥰
Been looking for this masterpiece ❤
I've been practicing this song by ear every since the movie came out and then the CD soundtrack back to titanic "the portrait".
It's been a long good journey playing it by ear haha but I believe I got it down now.. James Horner? this song is a master piece.
R.I.P
Neej Tswb Blue Devil Shouting ourselves out I see. Interesting.
Il n'y a pas de mots pour décrire les differents sentiments que ce son procure! Just beautiful!!!!!!
I play this when I’m drawing sometimes
Considering what James Horner said on TED Talk about composing music movie, despite how wonderful this piece is - is it what he intended it to sound like? Would be very interesting to have an insight in early compositions!
“You jump, i jump”

Melhor filme de todos os tempos, jamais existirá outro igual😭👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
One of the true masterpieces all time........RIP James Horner
Great music! Great movie!
Essa música é uma obra de arte .. sou apaixonada nela ..
I honestly like how they made a disaster turn into a love story that gave many life lessons like choose love over money
This song is so sweet
I cant help it, this song breaks even a full grown 30 years old metal head like me!
Beautiful piece of music✌️
Beautiful musical part👍🏻
I missed the days where big blockbuster movies are actually good pieces of cinematographic arts, and not a marketing ploy to sell games and toys
i don't care what anyone says this is the best song on this movie
James Horner - The legend❤❤
Titanic is my story too now, I miss you honey and I Love you, forever will ❤️
No matter how hard life hits me, I will always stand and fight my battle.
