    Thanks for featuring me again Timmy :)
    I still remember the double avoid fate, it felt so great casting it two times in a row in that spot... BAM BAM 😁

      @@jorgovanhees7285 The double avoid fate was awesome. The deck player won game 2 primarily because of LOA.

    Ow, ow, ow, yeah, slow motion. Hahaha 🤓. So, in old school, interrupts are considered to be instants, such as Swords to Plowshares. The latter card was countered effectively with Avoid Fate, right? (actually double slap, he he). In see that Avoid Fate which counters interrupt and enchantments... Fun to watch Tim, thanks for sharing! 2k subs is going to happen!

      Thanks Ralph 👍 and you’re correct with the swedish rule set, interrupts are considered instants.

      Avoid Fate underwent a functional errata with the 6th Edition when they gave up on the differentiaton between Instants and Interrupts. This affected Old School and Pre-Modern and led to this "in response" thing. Actually Avoid Fate wasn't considered that good back then as there were few legal targets for it: It could only target interrupts (and enchant creature/enchant land cards), not the usual suspects among the removal spells which were all instants, like Terror, Disenchant, Lightning Bolt and - as seen here - Swords to Plowshares.

    12:47 "As a matter of fact I need a playset now!" had me smiling as Avoid Fate was one of the most laughed at cards pre 1999. I always liked the great artwork even it was of no use in almost any deck and there were almost no legal targets. The only Interrupts I can think of that could target one of your permanents were BEB and REB and if you were playing blue or red you would rather use the respective counterpart than Avoid Fate. I'll keep an eye on the price chart at cardmarket and throw my stuff in once the buy-outs start ;-) It's funny how a rules change brought this card back...

      Thanks for sharing, I did not know this. I think the card is a solid maybe for me right now. I'm thinking about an Enchantress/Timmy deck where it could play a pretty big part in protecting these creatures.

    7:35 why didn't the chaos orb destroy the land and mox that it also landed on? Was there an eratta back then that protected your own cards?

    • @TimmytheSorcerer
      @TimmytheSorcerer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chaos Orb
      Chaos Orb is legal in Old School, with specific errata:
      Chaos Orb {2}
      Artifact
      {1}, {T}: Choose a nontoken permanent on the battlefield. If Chaos Orb is on the battlefield, flip Chaos Orb onto the battlefield from a height of at least one foot. If Chaos Orb turns over completely at least once during the flip and rests touching the chosen permanent, destroy that permanent. Then destroy Chaos Orb.
      Additional Ruling: Once a permanent has been chosen, it may be physically moved in order for the controller of Chaos Orb to have an unobstructed attempt on the permanent.

    Oh man, double Avoid Fate was brutal. I remember YEARS (decades?) ago, InQuest called that one of the worst cards of all time. I called BS then, and I think it's underrated now.

    • @johnbushrulez
      @johnbushrulez 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's probably decades... Avoid Fate seems to see more play these days as it got a functional errata after the 6th Edition rules revision when they gave up on the differentiaton between Instants and Interrupts. In the olden days Avoid Fate really wasn't considered that good back then as there were few legal targets for it. One couldn't respond to the usual suspects among the removal spells which were all instants, like Terror, Disenchant, Lightning Bolt and - as seen here - Swords to Plowshares. The abolition of Interrupts somewhat boosted Avoid Fate and I'm seeing in play more often. It is underrated (if you're playing green) as it's become a nifty response to Swords to Plowshares for one green mana
