Ok. So. With the discovery of dark oxygen… deep sea mining… *will* be the end of days… we will run out of… the stuff we breathe…….. that’s a terrifying sediment…

Chasing a profit will eventually cause us not to be here.

The sea bed minerals should be deemed non renewable and be left alone.

Lack of spiritually has resulted in a concentration on the physical world, and ignorance of the interconnectedness all life shares.

Lovecraft wrote about the unknown horrors that lurk in the deep, how scary they are and how insignificant humans would be to them. Everyday I see more and more that humans are the horrors and that everything in nature is insignificant to us. We (corporations) are our greatest enemy.

Could dolphins be trained to collect these nodules? Seems like a much less invasive method.
Don’t try to tell me dolphins aren’t capable of being trained for this task. They are far more intelligent any dog breed. Sheppards can be trained for a vast multitude of joint tasks, so it stands to reason the same concept could be applied to Dolphins. Who already work with humans in coastal South American towns without specific training.
This is a good idea. A really good one. Their echolocation would easily find the nodes, and they’d have no problems bringing them to the surface.
It would cost a lot less. Think about how many resources you can retain not needing to have a fleet of large ships that cost a ton to assemble, staff, and maintain.
My goodness 1/10 the cost could have an entire company sized element of dolphin / handler combos trained ready for deployment in 2-3 years.
There has to be something I’m missing. No way nobody thought of this.

You're not very bright are you. These proposed mining depths are around 1,000-4,000m +. Think about it how deep can you dive then think a little harder. How far can dolphins dive. Here's a hint 300m.

@@richardkaz2336 Your parents were right to name you Dick. Excuse me for not being an expert in the biological capabilities and limitations of dolphins or know that these nodes don’t begin to appear till 1k yards deep. Hey Dick, since you’re an expert please explain why they cannot farm some part of the ocean that has risen over the last million or so years. Depth doesn’t remain constant over eons of time.
