Wow. Brent I understand why you are enthusiastic about this project. I glad that you are doing videos on this project. So I can learn even though I live one the other side of the Atlantic ocean.
I jumped out of my chair screaming with Joy! I am so happy you are taking on Thisle Hill. Its one of my favs and I could see it needed help! I feel so much better knowing its in your hands! AHHHHH!
Fantastic video. That's a very expensive restoration 🤔. It's good you're doing the restoration work. Definitely not something for an amateur. Thanks again for sharing, God bless 🙏
Brent, your channel is hands-down my favourite. It’s a real treat so see these buildings and to have a place of us to indulge in our common passion. All the best from the UK
I just subscribed to this channel about a week ago, and when I watched this video, I was so glad I did! I love architecture, history, renovation projects, quality craftsmanship - and this promises to be all rolled into one. 🤩Thanks for taking us along - what a privilege!!!
This is a truly wonderful piece of workmanship, from top to bottom. Those green roof tiles!!! Just gorgeous! Glad to see such a special home is in the capable hands of you and your team. A really exciting project. Glad to see the damage doesn't go too deep. Congratulations!
So glad I found your channel!! The first video I saw was your “Foam & Old Houses” video and I couldn’t agree more with what you said!! They have the right man for this job, and can’t wait to see you and your team carefully bring it back to its original greatness!!😊
What an amazing house! That green tile roof is epic, and the mill work in the interior is just phenomenal. I can't wait to see how it all comes out. I'm glad to see you doing this project, I know you will do it right!
What an interesting project. I guess that a major attraction of your line of work is that every house, every project, is different. Keeps you on your toes.
The Wharton-Scott House is one of those houses that is a challenge to identify the style and period. The architectural styles are combination of Colonial, Georgian, and Beaux-Arts. Restoring this property and its amenities will be a major undertaking. Congrats on getting the project. If anyone can manage this, I'm sure Brent Hull and his team can do it!
This is so fun to watch. Our daughter and son-in-law were married at Thistle Hill. My son-in-law got ready in the carriage house and it was a bit toasty 😂 I always thought it would be beautiful if someone restored it. Glad to see such care being taken in the process and I’m learning alot.
Congratulations. What a treasure - surrounded by the city. Looking forward to a … lengthy … series. As you incorporate new materials I expect the result will be better than new. Are you going to help establish maintenance procedures that will ensure the integrity of the buildings for the next hundred years?
That property is incredible! So sad to see the neglected maintenance. I think tow years of restoration is optomistic, but then it depends a lot on how many men are working in that time. Keep up the good work! JIM ❤
Lynnwood Hall in Pennsylvania was just bought by a preservation non-profit and is raising funds to completely restore the mansion. Would love to see you do a video there!
I hope you cover extensively on how you do it. There are a lot of things that you pointed out that are similar problems with my house, and I'd love to know how to restore it.
When you remove the Ludowici roof is there a high priority to catalog the exact location of every tile and replace them back original? Or is it one of those things since it's modular system they will fall into place wherever they need? I imagine even in the later there's a few case scenarios where speciality pieces might have to go in certain locations?
How do you price out a project like that? You said a one or two year project,It looks like way more than a two year project. Will Richard be with you on this?
Your enthusiasm is contagious. Thank you for the Learning Lab!
My pleasure!
Thank you so much for the opportunity to get aesthetic pleasure from viewing this house!
You and me both.
Looks the biggest project of a career! My daughter was married there about 20 years ago.
Nice, it is an amazing home.
How much fun it will be to watch a home restoration that won’t involve Grey Paint, Vinyl Windows, or Vinyl Plank Flooring!
Haha so true!!
Wow. Brent I understand why you are enthusiastic about this project. I glad that you are doing videos on this project. So I can learn even though I live one the other side of the Atlantic ocean.
Thanks for watching.
What an incredible opportunity. Both in the quality and the visibility of the project.
So true! Thanks.
I jumped out of my chair screaming with Joy! I am so happy you are taking on Thisle Hill. Its one of my favs and I could see it needed help! I feel so much better knowing its in your hands! AHHHHH!
Yay, thanks for the encouragement. It will be fun.

Somehow I missed this until I saw the carriage house video. Can’t wait to follow along this restoration.
More to come!

Can't wait!

Can't wait!!
Copper Gutters: The heating and cooling cycles over the years, (Movement) crack the solider joins. Totally repairable.
Thanks Brent!!!

I'm so excited. thanks
Great observations! All of those dull modern buildings surrounding this house is an unwelcomed distraction. I can't stand modern buildings.

Amazing project! Thanks for bringing us along! 👍
Thanks for coming with us.
What a.. "niche" interest. I appreciate this.
Cool. Thanks.
The staircase and the wood columns inside were exquisite. The brick and stone work is incredible. A shame we don’t see this quality today.
Agreed. Thanks.
Love the curved windows.
I know right!
I've been to many events there over the years. It's magnificent, & I'm happy to see it getting the love & attention it deserves.
Yes, me too!

Thanks, i'm pumped.
I will definitely be watching. So much of this house is like my own bungalow here in chicago.
You are a lucky homeowner.
looking forward to watch your progression in the next two years.
Thanks! It'll be fun.
What a wonderful house and awesome project. I look forward to the episodes!
Me too. Thanks.
SO EXCITING! 🎉
I know right!
That roof is amazing.
So no ripping out walls and spray foaming everything?! 😂😂😂😂
Haha, no chance.
Awesome Brent! Glad you and your team are doing the work👍
Thanks 👍
What an interesting project. I guess that a major attraction of your line of work is that every house, every project, is different. Keeps you on your toes.
For sure! This one I love.
I can’t wait to see how y’all fix those curved windows.
Yes, we need to document it for sure.
This is so exciting! I can't wait to watch more.
Thanks so much.
can't wait to see the process
I know right!

That would be great. Have them reach out.
@@BrentHull I will do my best!
Ok, I hadn't heard. Thx.
Beautiful home, can't wait to see the restoration. Shame it's surrounded by modern buildings.
It stands on its on. Thanks.
I hope you cover extensively on how you do it. There are a lot of things that you pointed out that are similar problems with my house, and I'd love to know how to restore it.
Will do! Thanks.
Too bad about the ugly commercial structures next door.
haha, its ok.
When you remove the Ludowici roof is there a high priority to catalog the exact location of every tile and replace them back original? Or is it one of those things since it's modular system they will fall into place wherever they need? I imagine even in the later there's a few case scenarios where speciality pieces might have to go in certain locations?
Good question, they are modular but there are unique elements, ridge caps, trim pieces, edges, etc.
Did you visit Thistle Hill before as I remember it?
Yes! Its one of my favorites.
That's a marvel of a house! Too bad it's surrounded by all those ugly buildings
Yikes. .
How do you price out a project like that? You said a one or two year project,It looks like way more than a two year project. Will Richard be with you on this?
One trade at a time with a clear scope. Yes, I hope Richard will help, if he has time. Thanks.
How much do they pay you to a job like this? Also, is the government or private own property
No comment.
That poor house didn’t deserve that huge ugly skyscraper built wrapping around it
hmmm, yep.
Oh… look at that.
An old TB aluminum neck guitar.
He spent some money on that😆👍🏻
So true.
