You all did a great job of add value with the commentary and explaining why players are shooting the shots they are choosing.

Par 4 hole 9? As a beginner playing only 3 and half years, I can't see any reason whatsoever, for this hole to be a par 4. Especially for any TV coverage. It's a par 3 easily for any rookie like myself and obviously easy for big time pros. Par 4? Are you kidding me

And they have just proved my point with 3 eagles all on one card. Par 4? No dog leg. Just a straight shot with trees to avoid near the hole if you go straight at it. But with most pro players having a 550ft arm, they can easily go over the trees. Par 4 is probably disrespectful to those guys as if the TD thinks they are not good enough to be pro. I'm sorry but a par 4 for this obviously easy par 3 hole, is just ridiculous

The third round had 72 players play this layout and 6 total players got the eagle on that hole. I think this makes sense because these players are playing the best golf in the field so it checks out they got some eagles.
Intended round is technical and twists left to right. The over top gap is much more aggressive and easier to access the green IF you throw over the proper tree clusters (which does take a solid pump) and get a little lucky (angle through the trees, not kicks, or rollaway on the green). Which makes the hole more of a true par 3.5 if anything else (which it averaged 3.51 for that round). Even with it being a Par 4, it played as the third easiest hole according to par with much better score separating than #1, 2 and 4 easiest holes for the round.
I don't think it being a par 4 was intended to be disrespectful to players or their anticipated skill level, just a recognition that the 2 is a little more of a bonus than a "traditional" birdie. I do agree, this hole is very eagle-able, especially if you have good control on your power hyzer and can throw 475.
