      Yeah Agree on that one Craig, it's still awesome and I love it but the horror aspect of the show is close to gone now. Would love to see them kind of return to more of the horror vibe that they had. Episode 3 of Season 13 "Patience" I thought was one of the more scary ones of the later episodes but even that was not quite as dark as it has been in the past.

    • @7SonsofFeanor
      @7SonsofFeanor 6 ปีที่แล้ว +154

      I think the first five seasons have quite a few scary episodes. Then Crowley became king of hell, and suddenly the demon storylines weren't as scary any more. Part of it is inevitable - as the characters on the show and the audience becomes more familiar with the rules of the world they're living in, it's harder to surprise them. Consider the introduction of hellhounds in Season 2, vs the Trials in Season 8, and then by the time you get to Season 12, there's an episode where they're basically like, 'yep, hellhound' right away and killing it is very straightforward - they know what works and they're prepared. It took John Winchester 20 years to identify and track down the yellow-eyed demon and the weapon that could kill it. His sons tend to be a bit more...efficient ;).

Sure there was immortality included in the mix but there was science behind it not fiction immortality like vampires have, so personally this episode freaked me out I remember. Oh and also I don't do well if somebody is talking about organs and all that kind of stuff, so that might also had played a big part of why I was scared of this episode.

      Hank Jayne. Lies it isn’t possible. Each episode is around 40 minutes long and each season has around 23 episodes. So since you said you watch 2-4 season would mean 40 episodes minimum. 40 times 40 is 1,600 minutes. 1,600 minutes into hours is 26 hours. So it is not possible to watch 2 seasons or more of Supernatural in even 1 day let alone 1 night.

    I love the “Danneel has porcelain dolls and refuses to get rid of them because Jensen hates them” narrative that’s happening. In their house tour I remember the was a creepy baby doll thing in a guest bedroom that Jensen hated with a passion, and Danneel was like “It stays.”

      Bcs horror from ghost is just cheap and redundant when there're beings that are more powerful. Horror is just mind playing that you can against with and become not afraid anymore like how Sam&Dean aren't afraid of them, but against more powerful beings like God and angels, it's a whole new level. In term of scariness, angels & demons actually are way more scarier than monsters & demons as their true look aren't shown

  • @moonstonepearl21
    @moonstonepearl21 6 ปีที่แล้ว +328

    Yea I totally get how much more disturbing and frightening things that real people can do instead of monsters could be. These monsters are ideas that are created, but we know that humans do really disgusting things everyday. We know that's real. We see it on the news and in history books all the time. For those of you familiar with Berserk, I think that's why the Conviction ark got to me more than the Eclipse in some ways because we know things like Inquisitions really happened where people were brutally tortured and executed, where as the Eclipse, although completely horrific, had a lot of disturbing things done by monsters. There were human aspects in that too, but you get my point.

    • @SuDaixi
      @SuDaixi 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think that is also why the x-files episode in the early seasons of the show about a family of father and sons who bred with their amputee mother was the creepiest(the one where they killed a deformed baby by burying it alive). And why out of all my favorite tv shows it's criminal minds that disturbs me the most. I watch and rewatch supernatural anytime day or night but criminal minds is a day only activity.

    • @moonstonepearl21
      @moonstonepearl21 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yea I can't watch Criminal Minds. It freaks me out. I saw one episode where a couple was kidnapping kids then cremating them to destroy the evidence, which plays into so many fears of mine. I think some were cremated alive which is a horrifying prospect, and it's a horrendous fear that something will happen to you and that someone will leave no trace of you like that. The entire thing was terrifying and disturbing on a whole new level. I just pass on that show. Plus I'm, pretty sure they get inspiration from actual cases with shows like that.

    • @FEARSWTOR
      @FEARSWTOR 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +MoonstonePearl21 All things considered, I kind of hope they do use actual cases as the basis for their episodes. Otherwise that means their writing staff came up with all of the scenarios in their own heads making them some scary, deranged people who probably should be evaluated and institutionalized.

    • @SuDaixi
      @SuDaixi 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Velius I sort of disagree. Wouldn't you say it's equally disturbing that someone somewhere actually did those things? I think it would have been less creepy knowing someone just made something up (possibly from their own fears). Rather than knowing someone somewhere actually not only thought of it but also actually did it. Like John Wayne Gacy who was known as the "Killer Clown" and inspiration to every killer clown in popular culture. Creepiest creep to ever rape, torture and kill young men and boys . He made this whole character of 'Pogo the Clown' and then brought him to life. Yuck.

    • @FEARSWTOR
      @FEARSWTOR 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      DaiXi Mindyuk Hmm.. Yes, and at the same time No. It is truly frightening to think that those cases have actually occurred, even without being changed or or exaggerated to make for a more compelling show. However the notion that all of the heinous crimes depicted over 11 seasons, with all of the vile details and intricacies, were thought up by a small group of people (the writing staff) is also terrifying, given the amount of crimes that have been depicted, and the broad range of methodologies and psychosis. An individual or small group who can have that caliber of murderous thoughts in their mind is a psychotic break away from doing very bad things. To that end, I would rather the inspiration come from hundreds of actual cases that took place over any number of years or decades performed by dozens of different individuals than for them to have been concocted one after another after another from the mind of one individual or small group.

    "Playthings" is truly one of the better episodes they've ever done for Supernatural. When your watching it for the first time you have literally have no idea the second little girl is a spirit and not and actual person. That shit still gives me the chills.

      BookWerm Minecraft SPN. Mate there is 13 seasons or more each season with at least 23 episodes. Season 3 being 16 episodes. That is 292 episodes more or less. So of course he isn’t going to know every single episodes name. Not even a super fan who is obsessed with Supernatural knows each episodes name by memory.

    Ahhh man the ones that really genuinely got me as "the monster is scary" are s1e2 "Wendigo" which is obviously the Wendigo that creeped me out...and a more recent-ish episode s12e18 "The Memory Remains" and the Moloch...both of thse involved a lot of moving around in darkness and not really any full looks at the monster, especially the Moloch and it just made everything super tense...

    • @7SonsofFeanor
      @7SonsofFeanor 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree that Moloch was one of the creepier recent monsters. All the gods on the show are creepy in their own ways because of the human sacrifice aspect, even the harmless-looking Christmasy couple who made Dean say "fudge" and Paris Hilton, LOL. But every detail revealed about Moloch was terrifying, from the torture dungeon to learning that he'd been starved for 20 years, to being trapped in an industrial meat fridge where no one can hear you scream.
      I realize that 'monsters who look just like humans except for the eyes' is cheaper for production and makes it easier to act, but some truly monstrous-looking monsters from time to time are appreciated!

    • @mlilejay8698
      @mlilejay8698 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      7SonsofFeanor EXACTLY...like sure the human meat-suit monsters are fine and good and do some despicable stuff but I can't say I was genuinely "on the edge of my seat" tense about the monster or felt the build up to actually seeing what this monster looked like EXCEPT for the Wendigo or the Moloch...

    For some reason, the episode that scared me the most was in season 7 when the leviathans made high fructose corn syrup turn everyone into couch potatoes, and Sam and Dean easily got the guy to give them his toxic blood. The realization hit me that, something like that could actually happen, the high levels of sugars and artificial sweeteners in our food could make us become sluggish and easy to kill, or just make us addicted....

    One of the scariest episodes to me is that one episode in the first season where they think they’re dealing w a ghost or a monster but it’s really just people kidnapping people. Like Jensen said. Also the episode where the family moves into a new house and there’s a girl living inside the walls. All the episodes where real people were the “monsters” scared me the most.

      Well, I certainly hope your 18-year-old self has more sense!
      Season 1: 22ep x 42min = 924 min = 15.4 hours
      Season 2: 22ep x 42min = 924 min = 15.4 hours
      Season 3: 16ep x 42min = 672 min = 11.2 hours
      Season 4: 22ep x 42min = 924 min = 15.4 hours
      Season 5: 22ep x 42min = 924 min = 15.4 hours
      Season 6: 22ep x 42min = 924 min = 15.4 hours
      Season 7: 23ep x 42min = 966 min = 16.1 hours
      Season 8: 23ep x 42min = 966 min = 16.1 hours
      Season 9: 23ep x 42min = 966 min = 16.1 hours
      Season 10: 23 x 42 min = 966 min = 15.4 hours
      Grand total: 9156 min = 152.6 hours
      1 week = 168 hours
      2 weeks = 336 hours
      I'm not accusing you of wasting time - I've certainly watched all the episodes of Supernatural more than once this year. Just, you know....pace yourself!
