The Ukraine Peace Summit kicked off in Switzerland today. Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has termed the event historic. But Russia is not attending the summit. US President Joe Biden too - chose to send his Vice President Kamala Harris to the summit. Yesterday, Russian President Vladimir Putin has spelled out his conditions for truce. Putin wants Ukraine to give up its bid to join NATO and cede more land. This comes as Ukrainian troops struggle to make gains on the battlefield. Palki Sharma tells you more.

What I am more surprised is Putin's truce deal is more of "victory demand" when that's far from the reality.
Given how it barely managed to capture some cities with pre-war population of 100-300k.... its now demanding cities of over 700k+ be converted into Moscow's rule for a temporary truce that may or may not last more than 2 years.
T____T and there are zero chance EU will drop the sanctions in place so this truce offer seem to be one Putin made without a reality check - e.g is Beijing going to risk itself for Moscow and by risk - I mean "all of it" beyond support from the sideline.
In Beijing's prospective - Moscow is someone who annexed many of Northern China so using Russia to weaken Nato seem to be China's win-win.

The funny thing is, everytime I ask what people waht they would do if their home, family and friends were attacked by evil men. They go silent. Personally I would always defend my home and loved ones against any threat. Just like the Ukrainan people are defending their brothers and sisters.

I would do my best to not annoy my neighbour, because I know that by doing so I risk my home to get absolutely demolished. Russia was not invited as the summit was about talking about how to achieve peace by supporting Ukraine to win the war. It really doesn't matter if those that are not backing Ukraine are not there. What is interesting is the tension between India and China is growing and if open war breaks out India most likely will be on its own.
