Van Rysel is the original and historical name for the city of Lille, where Decathlon has its HQ. This name is a Flemish one, because almost entire North of France has spoken Flemish till the end of XVIII century. Strict language politics of Napoleon Bonaparte forced French over Flemish. By the way, I like Van Rysel very much.
nah its Mr Van Rysel. think he rode for cofadis?
@@_Tp__ en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lille scroll a bit down.
@@_Tp__ no Van Rysel originally means "from Lille" in Flemish, after it became a last name but nothing to do with the bike company
@@p4olo537 Have you watched the video???? I WAS JOKING
BTWIN village in Lille is well worth a trip/video. It's home to the decathlon headquarters and you can look round their research department and museum to see what's coming in the next few years. They had all their world tour bikes and kit on display there in June
Van Rysel clothing and gear are very very good. I am excited about their new shoes too. Look amazing and 200€ cheaper than S-Works torch for example.
Dudes you got so much wrong, Rysel is the old Belgian name (Rijsel) of Lille (where the head of Decathlon is located) and pro's HAVE TO use the same bike as being sold in the shops/online and it would cost to much to use a different layup of carbon, not because of the cost of the carbon but because how they than have to design a whole new layup.
I like the idea of Decathlon sponsoring a team and also putting a team bike in the mix. I love the idea! I wish them the best, and I'll be cheering them on! Brown pants or not. Can you imagine if they put a rider/bike on the podium? WOW! That would be exciting!
Van Rysel won the Tour 9 times between 1952-1965. He was a giant of a man at 7ft tall and they say he would defeat his competition with fireballs from his eyes and bolts of lightning from his arse.
That's William Wallace.
" It was AG2R, in fact, who first used them in 2000, kicking off an eight-year spell in which Decathlon was a co-sponsor and later rolled out its Btwin brand. In 2003, AG2R were joined by French rivals Cofidis for two seasons, which saw a number of big wins across both squads."
My friend, who works with a minimum wage, has decided to stop cycling. Despite being a skilled cyclist, he couldn't afford an expensive road bike and cycling clothing. He shared with me that while cycling with his £400 road bike and affordable clothes in the Scottish countryside, he was subjected to mockery and humiliation by other middle-class cyclists. Regrettably, road bike cycling in this country became a recreational activity for snobby middle-class white men.
...and a great city too, just spend a few days there. Flemish part of France, worth a trip (connected to London via Eurostar train), maybe you should do a visit to the Decathlon headquarters there. And literally next door (can be reached by metro from Lille) is Roubaix! Combination of a video about Decathlon's headquarters and Paris-Roubaix!!!! ;-)
Emily's research credibility sky rocketed 🚀 and then exploded magnificently 💥😂
Van Rysel means from Lille (Decathlon HQ) in Flemish. Decathlon gave a Flemish name to their cycling performance line to make it look better
Decathlon and Van Rysel mid range road bikes are amazing value as well. Carbon frames, Sram AXS shifty bits, half-decent wheels and tires for 2000 euro!
Their Cyclocross bikes are good as well
Even before this was announced I was looking at Van Rysel for my next bike. Either that or steel custom, cannot decide.
I remember when they sponsored AG2R in 2000 they struggled to sell the top range race models. I remember they were selling the top range Dura Ace version dirt cheap in the Decathlon store at Lakeside as no one would buy them as they had Decathlon on the frame which was not synonymous with a top range product. They certainly didn’t take anything by storm!!!
AG2R have riden Decathlon bikes in the past .
The Van Rysel Frameless Glasses are really good especially for the price.
Jean Christophe Peraud (who rode for AG2R) wore the old BTWIN/Van RYSEL shoes?
GCN should hire you as a host!
Hi guys. I don’t suppose you’ve heard anything about when the RCR will be released in the UK? It seems France are getting them in February. Cheers
The odds are that the frames for the glasses will be made by luxottica, who make like 50% of all glasses frames, and therefore will not be in breach of any patent
Oh Jimmothee, No. Bad.
The chocolate duds were an icon!
Cofidis and David Millar where sponsored by Decathlon in the 2000's, so this brand was shomehow already involved in cycling before
AG2R have riden Decathlon bike before.
So pleased I bought a bike direct from ag2r ,bmc SLR EPs campagnola ,amazing thankyou ag2r.
Prices in excess of £8000 and the word cheapest do not belong in the same sentence or video 😂.
What are you guys on about? 😂 feel uneducated after this clip. 😂
Didnt Decathlon have something to do with FDJ back in the day or have I just made that up like francis knowing who VAN RYSEL is?
I hope they win a stage to proof a point.
I am looking for a new helmet and am basically certain I will buy that helmet after seeing it here.
I also want a new bike, and while I certainly won't be spending £8k on a bike, if decathlon make an "entry level" version for around £1k-£2k (which they would be mad not to) it is going to be very tempting to get that. (even though my heart is set on a fairlight strael. Maybe I need two new bikes....)
Yeah. The Fairlight Strael is also on my "next bike" list. =)
@@fotografamos4083 such a good looking bike, steel frame, reasonable price. It's just a great proposition.
i used to have an Van Rysel. i sold it because i moved out from home, wanted some money for more furniture and was slowly turning to mountain biking anyway. i still do own an cheaper triban roadbike (the Triban rc120) and decathlons singlespeed (the elops speed 500) and even tough it isnt my main mountainbike, i also do own an rockrider mountainbike. imma be real it dosnt feel much cheaper than my cannondales i owned and do own even tho those cannondales are actually over thrice the price... these bikes are all f*ckin great for their price, you can easily compare them to bikes of other brands that are much more expensive. the only downside are the inhouse mechanics of decathlon. they hire random people that mostly dont really know what they are doing so they are sometimes poorly assembled and you have to work on them yourself a bit.
AR2r rode Decathlon bikes 2000 until 2004
Thank heaven for Emily ❤❤❤❤
Helmets don't look like Kask to me
8800 euro is same as a canyon cfr
Francis there is more than the UK 😂😂😂. Van Rysel a guy from Cofidis 😂😂😂
All these expensive bikes are all overpriced anyway. If the sets are similar, all those bikes perform similarly. All depends on the riders.
I don't get why Decathlon has such a bad reputation?
"Crappy budget brand" is not at all what they are.
Their gear is proper quality if you factor in the price.
Pound for pound you'll get better quality (and thus value) at Decathlon vs name brands imo
Of course they haven't been into the high-end (or even mid-range) bikes for some time,
focussing more on the budget spectrum of cycling.
But if you had €500, $, £, you'd get more for your money vs a name-brand manufacturer's bike at the same price
Road cycling does have a trandition to look down on budget products.
Late comment. But Decathlon a "crappy budget brand"? I understand some people can afford the greatest and latest but anything other than the priciest being crappy brand is such a bad attitude to have. Some idiots pay more for the product and make it more expensive but let it be, and there comes a brand like decathlon who does 90 percent of so called elitist brands does at a much reasonable cost.
So many simple things in life has been made so elitist by so called influencers. What an uninspiring untalented world we live in.
I think the Hitler stash actually suites Francis.
Can't unseen it now :D
Decathlon 😩
