Hey Charles - We talked a bit in summer on a Bad Company video I believe - I hope you're doing well. In the mid to late 80's I used to listen to the 2 hour Dr.Demento show Sunday Nights from 8 to 10 pm followed by an hour of various stand up comics then followed by an hour of mystery programs I believe was called Theatre of the Mind.
The artist was called "Napolean the Fourteenth". Dr. Dememto flashbacks...my favorite radio show of all time! I used to love listening to all the kooky and crazy music he would play on his radio show every week. And this one was on just about every week. It's sad that there's no regular outlet for these types of novelty records anymore. That's why you are so surprised by it. Back in the day, we heard crazy off-the-wall songs like this all the time. This song was NOT over a dog. He was referring to the PERSON who left him when he said "mangy mutt" (I always assumed it was over a girl...but don't quote me on that one). And everyone I knew back then could recite the lyrics to this song by memory! The B-side is the actual recording played backwards, not performed backwards.

@@sharonpreston4925 When you say that you never succeed to do the backward version, do you mean to try to sing it or play it? Trying to sing a song backward is VERY difficult. With a turntable (Record Player, Phonograph) it is quite easy, although it must be done with care so as not to ruin your stylus (needle). There was a guy that did a video of singing a song backward and to prove he sang this well-known song backward, he made a video of doing things in forward motion while he sang it. Then he reversed the video to show that the song was actually sung completely in reverse. It should still be on TH-cam. Yes, the video is titled What Song Is This. It has over 4 million views.

Purple People eater. Guitarzan and a huge list of others. If you wanted to do "Stupid Sundays" this is where you would find your playlist. This was on the first album I ever owned lol. I think it was called “Looney Tunes”. It also had “Little Red Riding Hood”, “Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh”, “Kookie, Lend Me Your Comb”, “Ape Call”, and “Witch Doctor” among others.
Back in the 60s, restaurants used to have jukeboxes that you could program from your table, with a little device on the wall by the table to pick the songs. There is an urban myth (or maybe it's real?) that the B-side of They're Coming To Take Me Away ended up on one of these restaurant jukeboxes, someone chose it by accident (or maybe not?), and that the "song" cleared a restaurant of 40 patrons in 2 minutes.

This song is an example of novelty music that was very popular in the '50's, '60's and '70's. I just checked out the Billboard Top 100 & 200 and found out that "Dream" & "Rumors" by Fleetwood Mac peaked at No.1 again, then "Dreams" dropped to No. 11 last week, while the album "Rumors" dropped to No.7. Now, this week, Dreams dropped to No.21 and "Rumor" has dropped to No.14. My mind is BLOWN AWAY!!! I am soooooooo proud of our young people buying and listening to Fleetwood Mac and just keeping good music "Alive." that I could just spit!!!!! lol...hahaha...wow. And get this..... 44 years ago....Rumor came out and I was 21 at the time.....and the album went to No.1 and stayed there for 4 weeks, meanwhile they had 5 No.1 hits and "Dreams" was the main No.1 hit!!!! This was on the first album I ever owned lol. I think it was called “Looney Tunes”. It also had “Little Red Riding Hood”, “Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh”, “Kookie, Lend Me Your Comb”, “Ape Call”, and “Witch Doctor” among others.

Back in the 60s, restaurants used to have jukeboxes that you could program from your table, with a little device on the wall by the table to pick the songs. There is an urban myth (or maybe it's real?) that the B-side of They're Coming To Take Me Away ended up on one of these restaurant jukeboxes, someone chose it by accident (or maybe not?), and that the "song" cleared a restaurant of 40 patrons in 2 minutes.
I was born in '86 but as a theater kid you should have heard the range of old school stuff we listened to. I loved this song in 7th grade. Holy cow, i had completely forgotten about this song and how much i love it! This is what the internet is for!

This song is an example of novelty music that was very popular in the '50's, '60's and '70's. You might want to check out other novelty songs like: "My Boomerang Won't Come Back" by Charlie Drake, "The Witch Doctor" by David Seville or "The Martian Hop" by the Ran-dells (a personal favorite of mine!)...Crazy music!

He was calling his girlfriend a dog. One of the funny songs that got good ratings. All of us kids sang this. It was fun!

I just checked out the Billboard Top 100 & 200 and found out that "Dream" & "Rumors" by Fleetwood Mac peaked at No.1 again, then "Dreams" dropped to No. 11 last week, while the album "Rumors" dropped to No.7. Now, this week, Dreams dropped to No.21 and "Rumor" has dropped to No.14. My mind is BLOWN AWAY!!! I am soooooooo proud of our young people buying and listening to Fleetwood Mac and just keeping good music "Alive." that I could just spit!!!!! lol...hahaha...wow. And get this..... 44 years ago....Rumor came out and I was 21 at the time.....and the album went to No.1 and stayed there for 4 weeks, meanwhile they had 5 No.1 hits and "Dreams" was the main No.1 hit!!!! NEVER did i think i would live to see this again. hahahaha....lol.....hahahaha.....
