Star-delta #motor #starter panel
To limit the starting current surge, large induction motors are started at reduced voltage and then have full supply voltage reconnected when they run up to near rotated speed.
Scheme - Working Principle of Star-Delta Starter
After a period of time the winding are reconfigured as delta and the motor runs normally. Star/Delta starters are probably the most common reduced voltage starters. They are used in an attempt to reduce the start current applied to the motor during start as a means of reducing the disturbances and interference on the electrical supply.
Terminal Connections in Star and Delta Configurations:
L1, L2 and L3 are the 3-phase line voltages, which are given to primary contactor. The main motor coils are U, V and W is shown in figure. In star mode of motor windings, the primary contactor associate the mains to essential winding terminals U1, V1 and W1.the star contactor shorts the auxiliary winding terminals U2, V2 and W2 as indicated in figure. Notwithstanding when the primary contactor is shut supply arrives at terminals A1, B1, C1 and consequently the motor windings are energized in star-mode.

I want to add up or alter some wiring a bit for precision using the same devices as arranged, I welcome corrections.
For the connection of the trip indicator, the NO contacts at the OLR should be connected in parallel not in series if you are using 2 OLR's which is not common.
Second, the connection for the RUN indicator should be that the the NO contact of the main contactor is in series with the NO contacts of the Star and the Delta contactor (having those of star and delta connected in parallel).
That's it.

i can do better star delta wiring with one OLR less...and with simple wiring....and u also didn't showed the timer internal connections...what type timer do we need for star delta starter... whether 3t or normal timer or pulse timer....i think video is incomplete and u also didn't showed paper diagram... just showed connections like how electricians and non technical worker does....

Hey great video! Please explain to me one thing though, with the overload NO contacts being wired in series, before going to the TRIP indicator, how will the TRIP indicator turn on if the main contactor trips during the startup STAR sequence before timer has switched the system back to DELTA? It seems to me, instead of wiring terminal 97 of the delta contactor to terminal 98 of the main contactor, we should wire from terminal 96 of the delta contactor over to terminal 98 of the main, and run a jumper wire from 97 to 97, this way if either of them trips the TRIP indicator is energized.

I have to aware that your site is one of the best, among all the electro-technical site which I searched on TH-cam in two past last weeks. Particularly by the clear schemas that can help other technicians to realise easily. But, please can you mention the reference of each devise that can be more useful. For example if you use the contactor made by Schnieder there are a bunch of contactors for example (LC1 DC9, used in this video), if not can you mentione the kind of three phased motor (Nominal power, nominal current and power factor), in this case we can adopted the devices. Thanks advance.
