- Whoops! It seems we were wrong. Our first review of the new 1.8-litre turbocharged Polo GTI lead us to believe that the manual would be much faster than the DSG version. Turns out, it’s just, well… different. The Polo for the real fanatic.

Nice review but you should check your audio mixing, the music parts are way too loud compared to the talking parts.

Lease company collected my white 3 door manual Polo gti last week and I miss it already. It is the perfect size for fun on Welsh roads and the ride and handling combination is fun while not being overly raucous. I,am driving a Cooper S this week and the steering rack is quick but that makes it twitchy at high speeds. The interior is funkier on the mini but it is largely for show as is no m ore functional.
Diverter valve opens not the waste gate, good review! I like the new polo gti just the mags are not so nice

Powershifting the manual will keep you from losing boost between gears, however you still can't out shift the day, but with 70 nm extra, one might be able to beat the dsg in the top end.

its has "pure white" colour or "oryx pearl white" colour?
mine came with tartan seats basically mine has the same interior as the golf
stop whinning about how much you want a dsg
My "problem" is that in Norway, the DSG cost around 1000 euro less :S (It does less polution, make the car tax much cheaper here over the manual)

Subjective, but I think it looks and drives a lot better.
I've gone for a manual, should be arriving in a couple of months. Test drove the DSG and it just didn't feel as good as driving my current manual car. You're right, DSG is nice in traffic (which I do a fair bit), so I hope I haven't made a mistake!

Late reply but it's an additional option. All it does is stiffen the suspension and play a synthetic car noise through the speakers to make it sound 'sportier'

He should've said blow off valve right? Wastegate lets exhaust gases escape.
take off them hideous geggs for a kick off.."chad" okay!! I get it I'm not ever going to be a able to change gears faster manually than I will using the DSG. handy if I'm visiting laguna seca..doubt I'll ever be too fussed otherwise and..who's "rand" or "ran" or "grant" or "anth" and yeah those tunes are really bad almost as bad as the 5 door version of the vw polo gti. inabit "ran"
A Manual GTI should be illegal.
You do realise they make Golf R's with manuals? It's a preference.
