Just to say how much I enjoy your videos. I bought an A1200 for my daughter for Christmas when they first went on sale and luckily for me she didn't take to it at all. Although she loved the box, kids those days. But as i said I loved it. I later installed a hard drive inside it and an extension card and boy did it take off. Further on I took out it's innards and put it in a PC tower. Bit heath Robinson but it worked. But the biggest mistake I made was to sell it. That said i am looking at buying the new Mini500. So thanks for the review and the conversion video. And I'll keep watching so keep up the good work.
They should have just made the Maxi. The time for minis was years ago, with micro computers it was pretty clear everyone wanted a working keyboard. I certainly wont buy one until I see that working keyboard. Nicely done making this custom mod though! Wonderful!
Perhaps you should tell all those people who have gone out and bought a mini, that they all made a big mistake and mini consoles are no good. I'm sure they will welcome your input, see the error of their ways and throw them away. Of course, RGL might need a way of raising cash for a maxi version, which is more complicated and therefore expensive... but I'm sure you have expert advice for them too?

Old Amiga user here, had an a500, a1200, cdtv, cd32. I'm also a painter by trade. If I could give you a tip, given the level your going to with this. Use a specific plastic primer, before the paint in all cases. It will provide way better adhesion than what your doing. This is almost a mandatory step. Also, once you apply the colour, put a 2k clear coat over the top of it. It's a few more steps but you end up with an almost indestructible finish.

Added USB ports on the side, extension cables for HDMI and USBC power and have it all neatly with 3d printed backplane parts in the a600 case. I have 'builders remorse' after having my a600 board recapped. So had to get another a600 case and keyboard on ebay to have my a600 back to working order again.
well, that's at least an appetizer as we wait for a real A500 Maxi to arrive - kind of hope it will model after the 1200 instead of the 500 or 600.
