I dress in a grunge/punk style but your decora looks have been really inspiring to me! Even though I do have this set style I’ve been implementing some elements of decora and I’m loving it! I’ve bleached and dyed flannels to add color, I’ve painted the backs of many jackets and covered some with pins, I’ve even painted cute things on my shoes! Watching and learning about decora has helped me be more open to more colors too, so thanks!
Here's a tip for people who love the colorful bead style but want to be more environmentally friendly with it. Try the thrift store, where you won't be incentivised in companies to make more plastic because you're not buying from anyone associated with the manufacturer. At least at the thrift stores where I go to you there's an entire section of craft supplies that people have donated. This includes the yarn, Fabric, and if you're lucky, beads. I know this trip might seem obvious to some people but sometimes you don't think of thrift stores as selling something like that so I thought I would throw that out there
I love this fashion ❤️ I personally dress casually but with a cutesy Lolita touch :) and I always wear cute accessories like bows, bracelets, rings and necklaces and of course cute bags. People stare at me all the time when I'm in public but I don't really care anymore. I feel so happy dressing like that and it makes me so happy to see other people being so enthusiastic about the fashion they like! There's a style of lolita called OTT (Over the top), which you can incorporate a lot of decora elements into! it's usually done with a sweet lolita theme/color palette.

ive always seen decora as the way it made the most sense for fashion to go - for millennia people have been decking themselves out in decorations like jewelry, paint, etc to look cool and high status so like. after we collectively stopped it only made sense someone would start doing it again. and im glad its so cute!!!! I also love that you acknowledge monohromatic and black/white decora that decora doesn't require every color of the rainbow to be worn for the style to be considered Decora!! Probably more than 10 years ago now I saw Kerli's music video "Army of Love" all her and all of the actors/dancers in her video were dressed head to toe in white. She definitely has some elements influenced by Decora like I remember seeing one medical mask she made using a cute teddybear face stuck on the front. Not exclusively decora, as there are a lot of cyber influences in the video as well. I was actually inspired to re-make a version of the wig she had worn in the video. And it's one of my fave things that I own.

you dont have to put them in your hair! a funky hat/headband would work just as good instead of clips! but if you want clips in your outfit, i put them on collars, sleeve cuffs, shoe laces, etc :))

a few ideas for not having any bangs (like me) is maybe if you are wearing a headband or hat ect you can put the clips infront of your hat or headband or whatever you are wearing on your head, or you can wear a wig or fake bangs!
Me and my friends like using cons as an excuse to dress however we want, no matter how over the top, and one of my friends got asked that same question “who are you cosplaying as” many times 😅 she just said “myself” and they would say “I love yourself” which is so sweet (she isn’t decora but she has a very dramatic style)

i'm gonna be making a vid about this soon but to put it simply decora = fashion style from japan that started in the 90s-2000s and kidcore = aesthetic that came from the west that started in the 2010s. decora has to do with the person's clothing and accessories but kidcore can be anything like what a room looks like.
kidcore is only kids stuff, decora can be not just childhood related. also decora is mainly about the jewelries so for decora you should wear as many as you can but for kidcore it's not a staple. I mostly see some bracelets and rings, maybe 2-3 hairclips only for one look. but I would say kidcore looks like the early stages of decora, like Tomoe Shinohara in the 90's

Do you (or anyone in the comments) know of anyone that wears decora who has natural curly hair that wears it curly? I don't straighten my hair and I'm not sure how I'd wear hair accessories in my hair and I tried to Google it but all that came up was wigs with straightened bangs :(
