I made a discord server for us where I can share UX/UI tips, potential job connections, frontend knowledge and talk to all you guys! I’d love to get to know all of you and become friends :) discord.gg/zP42ERGs
0:25 Data section is a really specific topic to start with... Networking is just one thing that kernel handles on the lowest level. 3:59 should be the start of the video, talking about how OS is neccesary for software to be able to utilize hardware easily. A lot of topics in this video talk about kernel functions, not OS functions. Kernel is just one of the components of an OS. OS is a collection of programs that provide an abstraction layer for user applications to run on. Although it is hard to draw a line where kernel ends and OS begins and will differ from one vendor to another, since it is decided by overall OS architecture.
I am begging you to say software instead of 'apps' (not a huge deal in reality but I am personally opposed to mass computer illiteracy and this kind of video should serve to fight it)
id say an app is more like user facing gui software with an icon and everything that serves a specific function. software is more of a general term, it can mean apps, tools, games, drivers etc
Great episode on an intro topic, without sounding like Yet Another Intro Topic episode. Nice work, I like your style, and enjoyed your unique approach. It’s hard to differentiate yourself on beginners stuff, but you pulled it off. Just right.
basically without an OS it's just a piece of plastic and metal and silicon without anyway to actually interact with it or let it interact with you or with itself

Hey, I can’t join the D!scord server. Is there a problem? It says the invite is invalid.

Chronically online (Under 1hr) ticket claim here.

I’m 10 days late but that doesn’t mean I haven’t used the internet in 10 days, I’m claiming the ticket anyway.
Bro combined the OS and the Kernel while they are two completely separate entities 😭
I get what you mean but for most people (those running Windows or MacOS) they are not really seperable
or enough of them probably don't care

Software = pc
Apps = phones
@@kaidanalenko5222 Distinction without a difference. Just like "assasination" vs "murder" or "magic" vs "miracle".

In business world it is common to use “App” as an customized application with UI from companies Data. Like Filemaker, Appsmith, Airtable
I love the Windows, MacOs or SOMETHING, like Linux is a entity
Prolly cuz of the amount of distros
integrity, heavily relied abstractions, different file system implementations, it's a mess.
This all came from the youtube channel "core dumped" I swear
probably
That is why I always use my CASIO calculator. 🙂
ah, yes. run apps in my efi shell, i should have been doing that the whole time!
I think EFI applications run in privileged mode? So yes not really safe.

This should be promoted on osdev wiki for nooooooobs
bro made a "this" knockoff
You explained really well

I beg you, what is the background song during most of the videos called, the piano kinda spooky one
I am currently using something mint, what os are you guys running?
____ (btw)
Also tryna code my own but that's a long way off being usable 😂
macOS on my laptop, and Fedora on my desktop (best of both worlds)
love your videos Miss, even though i know nothing about computer science / I.T
