It's just the brainlet people requesting it failing to direct them to the full thing. Hey guys. Philly is known for tough fans. They had a Hall of Fame 3rd baseman for many years named Mike Schmitt, considered the best in the game at his position during his career, Every time he struck out or made an error his hometown fans booed him. Once during an Eagles football game Santa Claus made an appearance on the sideline. The fans booed him and threw snowballs at him. There was a fairly small group of drunks near the stage that kept booing Bill here. The vast majority of the crowd was cheering. He got a standing ovation at the end. Bill talks about race and racism a lot as well. He is married to a black woman. She is on his podcast often and they are hysterical together. He also created an animated show (I think on Netflix) called F is for family. He is the voice of the dad. Stay safe and well.
They actually had a police precinct in the stadium for football games back in the day. The Philly fans famously threw batteries at Santa Clause. Philly is know for being the worst. So, yes, just like it's always sunny
Ok, mates, so here's the story as far as I know it: It was a tour called the Opie and Anthony Show, they had done a series of gigs with comedians like Dom irerra, tracy jordan, Bob saget and Patrice O'Neal. Now this show had... I think followed a sporting event by the sounds of it, and offered little transition time between it and the comedy show. So there were a LOT of.... just HAMMERED bellends who wouldn't sod off. A couple comics went on, 1 just tanked and Philadelphia was his home town. A couple other comics got this weird sensation that they knew it was going to be a bad crowd and a bad show. Tracy jordan packed up about halfway through his like... 15 minute set. Now Philadelphia is known for being a tough gig, but this crowd started with a few booers and just went downhill from there. There was a brief intermission where a couple of comics did really well, but then the people booing came back for another round. To add fuel to this fire bill had a couple of jokes not doing well and one that was used as part of an ad for the show he was unaware of so the crowd had heard it already and just tore into him. But Bill knew his sports and the area hosting the gig was on the edge of Philadelphia, new York and new Jersey (lots of rival sports teams, try to imagine 9 premier league teams living within 16 kilometers of each other). Bill hammered philly and won the neighboring state crowds which is why you hear laughs and cheers mixed in with the booing
Side note. When this happened Bob Saget was going up next I think and told bill as he was coming off stage, do you realize what you just did, this is going to make you a legend. Bob was right. Need the whole version. Leaves out to much context.
Only Bill could have done this. He knows enough about all the major US sports and he follows all of them pretty closely, and because of that knows the ins and outs of a city like Philly since they have some really popular sports teams. Plus the years of touring, and he's super clever. Part of the reason they respected him is for the local burn shit like the, "You fuckin one bridge having shit city."
Epic background story. He didnt like to talk about it and he was mad at himself, at first, right after he did it but its legendary. How many comedians wish they could pull this off. Look for the interview that he lays out the entire story. He goes through the line-up and what happened. Its relatively resent. Also try to find the entire video where he tries a joke or two and then... This vid started late.
American venues don't sell glass bottled drinks because they used to get launched at sports teams, comedians, etc. No getting "bottled" here unless you save your water bottle with something in it.
I am watching this with the Office Blokes once again. I wish that TH-cam could monitor second or third viewing "LIKES", since I cannot like it a second time, but actually want to.
I'm a new viewer from Buffalo New York and I got to say I love you guys channel it's great to get a British perspective on a lot of American comedy and music and sports you guys should do yourselves a favor and react to some Bert Kreischer. He's a hilarious comedian. If you've ever seen the movie Van Wilder Ryan Reynolds that movie is based on Bert's college experience
Dave nailed it, Bill watched the drunk crowd acting like fools all day and he had enough. Much respect to Philly though the they were cheering him at the end
He was really smart with this. The event took place in an area just outside of Philadelphia where there is a bit of a one sided rivalry, so he could tear into Philly with chancing them rushing the stage. Genius.
As far as the "getting bottled" thing goes you guys should watch a video about the cleveland browns "bottle gate" after that drinks at any major event especially outdoor ones don't serve drinks in hard containers, just plastic cups or cans.
At 12:00, venues don't allow glass or even cans in large venues. I recently went to a Bill Burr arena stand up and they even gave everyone a bag to lock up their cell phones to prevent recording.
This has been a rule ever since that NFL game in Cleveland a few decades ago when the fans started throwing beer bottles at the refs when they made one of the worst calls in the history of the sport.
I like 2 imagine which spice girls each office bloke would be... but seriously loving your reacts from Peoria Illinois USA. Happy new year's goodbye 2020
Asked years later if he wanted to apologize, he said "I'm sorry I forgot the 76ers".
If there were glass bottles he would have been bombarded, but only cans or plastics at any outdoor events is the us.

I don't get it, knowing there are multiple versions of a particular video/performance etc and that if left to the reactors, the most likely video to be used is the wrong version and that the comments will be full of "This is the wrong version", why don't the guys making the request at least point it out at the time? I see it constantly.
Any request I ever make, I either add the watch?v= or the channel name and have never had an incorrect version of anything done.
I feel like these guys will have to rewatch this down the road when they've reacted to more American sports stuff... a lot of jokes will make a lot more sense to them. Bill has credited his knowledge of sports as being one of the reasons he got through this.
DontTreadOnMyVape think we got most of it tbf. My grandson is named after Iverson so we get a bit of philly sports 😂👍🏻
This is art form at it's purist form! Thanks for this reaction! I really enjoyed it.
I worked with Bill in Boston and Saugus MA in the early years. He used to just do jokes, set up / punch line, because he said he was afraid to get heckled. LMAO I guess he got over that fear.
Haven't watch your reaction yet, but i know it's going to be great!!!
Apparently there were other comedians before him and the crowd were being assholes to them, and when his turn came up he let it rip.
I just found this. Loved the guy in the middle who didn't say much, but was obviously enjoying it! I NEVER get tired of this Burr rant...Hysterical! I'll hit subscribe now...
This is what put Bill on the map.
Sent this to my Philly friend a while ago & he loved it. The most die hard Philly guy I’ve ever met & thought it was fucking hilarious
Bill Burr smashes it always. I have seen this rant several times and I don't tire of it.
Lol I was there that day so I love watching other people react to it
Are you still a 1 bridge havin town?
5 bridges
Ok, mates, so here's the story as far as I know it:
It was a tour called the Opie and Anthony Show, they had done a series of gigs with comedians like Dom irerra, tracy jordan, Bob saget and Patrice O'Neal.
Yeah this is where Bill Burr's legend was born. It's awesome that you guys love him too.
You guys should react to Greg Geraldo. He passed away too young, but he was hilarious.
One of the best
He was the king of Comedy Central roasts! My favorite was him at the Jeff Foxworthy one.
Finally a reaction video that talks about the actual lead up to this!
The guy who went after him was Bob Saget, the father from full House.
American venues don't sell glass bottled drinks because they used to get launched at sports teams, comedians, etc. No getting "bottled" here unless you save your water bottle with something in it.
Bill Burr most savage moment ever. 😂👍🏽
That Rocky thing actually prompted Philadelphia to build a Joe Frazier statue.
Great!
I love how the dude in the black tee s perception of Philly, is based on " its always sunny ... "
I am watching this with the Office Blokes once again. I wish that TH-cam could monitor second or third viewing "LIKES", since I cannot like it a second time, but actually want to.
The rare combination of brains and balls, that was nothing short of epic.
Bob Saget gave a fairly clear minded recount of this evening. Burr is legend.
I really wish there was video of Daz destroying Chubby Brown 😂
I'm a new viewer from Buffalo New York and I got to say I love you guys channel it's great to get a British perspective on a lot of American comedy and music and sports you guys should do yourselves a favor and react to some Bert Kreischer. He's a hilarious comedian. If you've ever seen the movie Van Wilder Ryan Reynolds that movie is based on Bert's college experience
This rant is just so good. I've watched 3 different reaction videos back to back!
Well, Eagles fans did abuse Santa.
This is the event that launched Bill's career basically
This set is what got bill burr famous and made me start listening to opie and anthony
Dave nailed it, Bill watched the drunk crowd acting like fools all day and he had enough. Much respect to Philly though the they were cheering him at the end
Best Bill Burr clip in my opinion. Be sure to check out Andrew Schultz, he’s fantastic.
He was really smart with this. The event took place in an area just outside of Philadelphia where there is a bit of a one sided rivalry, so he could tear into Philly with chancing them rushing the stage. Genius.
Bernie Mac is the other legend that took it to a hostile crowd and that elevated his status to the stratosphere. He was definitely not afraid.
This video started just after my favorite insult to them where he says “The terrorists will never bomb you people because you’re worthless.”
As far as the "getting bottled" thing goes you guys should watch a video about the cleveland browns "bottle gate" after that drinks at any major event especially outdoor ones don't serve drinks in hard containers, just plastic cups or cans.
I loved how he got the most cheers after
At 12:00, venues don't allow glass or even cans in large venues. I recently went to a Bill Burr arena stand up and they even gave everyone a bag to lock up their cell phones to prevent recording.
React to anything by Greg Giraldo. Love this channel!
Philadelphia audiences have a reputation for being tough, so ...
Events at least in California but I’m guessing everywhere don’t allow glass bottles because people would use them as weapons
This has been a rule ever since that NFL game in Cleveland a few decades ago when the fans started throwing beer bottles at the refs when they made one of the worst calls in the history of the sport.
As a Californian, that’s true.
I like 2 imagine which spice girls each office bloke would be... but seriously loving your reacts from Peoria Illinois USA. Happy new year's goodbye 2020
