I've not been inside a G-8700DB, but the power cord is wired similarly on most receivers of this vintage. When looking to do the replacement, what trouble are you running into? This big question most of the time is "why was the power cord cut off in the first place?". I've come across shorted rectifiers, blown transistors, and myriad other bad things downstream such that I generally test receivers with a DBT and a suicide cord plugged into the always-on outlet on the back of the receiver before going through the effort of replacing the cord.
