      Thanks! If you got any remote job making $20/hour or more, you’re set (imho). I’ll be addressing income in the near future. It doesn’t take much here if you’re making Western money. Everyone has different lifestyle standards though. I wish you the best 🙏🏾

    Congrats on the move…lifting up prayers for you and your wife for the transition and TH-camr success. November - February are perfect month’s to start there. March - May hot, hot, hot. June - October rainy and humid. I’m planning a trip April - July and considering Jomtien, west of Pattaya, that has a long walking path along the beach and is a lot less of the Pattaya hustle and bustle.

    Move and retire in Thailand is a good idea but don't settle in Bangkok, touristy price, crowed and lots pollution. Try an isolated island such as Phang ngan island (the center of digital nomads), Samui island if you want some quite lonely place with no tourists, try Samet island or the North of Thailand like Chiang mai which the living cost are much cheper. Avoid Phuket, the most expensive cost of living in the country there is no taxi meter in this province, the taxi start at 500-800 Baht.

    Southeast Asia is great! It's my favorite region in the world. I'm in my mid-60s and started going to Thailand almost annually since back in the late 1990s. Bangkok is my favorite city in the world. I have also been up in Northern Thailand, but never had a desire to go to the beach areas of Thailand. I've heard it's a different vibe there compared to Bangkok as friends have been to those beach areas a lot. I like being in the big city with lots to do.
    The last time that I came home from the region was in Feb 2020. I had been gone since Dec 2019. I also like Singapore, Malaysia (Penang), and Indonesia (Jakarta over Bali) as far as Southeast Asia goes although I've also been in other parts of Asia. I'd like to get to Vietnam. I had planned to go to Vietnam from Singapore, in Jan 2020, but decided to stay in Singapore for two weeks before flying back to L.A. due to being in the middle of the beginning of the Covid situation as it started in 2019.
    It's good that you've decided to just take a breath and try out something new, regroup, and then decide where you want to be. I started traveling the world solo, as a teen in the early 1970s and have been on all of the continents except Antarctica. It's good to get out and explore. I used to be out and about anywhere from 7 days to 11 weeks on overseas trips and being female and solo back in the day wasn't always easy in some countries, but I did it. Mind over matter. And tech devices didn't exist back then. LOL! It was..... think on one's feet and just make it work. Some serious life skills.
    I accidentally came upon your vlog and have now subscribed. I look forward to following your and family's journey.
    Greetings from Los Angeles

      Thank you for subscribing and contributing such great commentary. It connects me to a longer timeline if SE Asia’s greatness and promoters world travel which I’m for. I wish more people were able to or simply decided to if they can. Vietnam is amazing. I want to go back soon but since we plan on being on this side for a while, we’ll get back soon enough. Penang, ML and Singapore are high on the list as well. Can’t wait.

    I'm considering retiring there, living in Bangkok. I'm choosing Bangkok because medical treatment is readily available, there are many conversational Thai schools, and the great public transportation, since I won't be driving there. Dating or marrying a Thai man is not a goal. I think this is a great time for you and your wife to make this move because once you have kids, they become the priority.

    I was there for 25 days for the first time in october. The only thing I have negative to say about Thailand is how difficult it is to stay there permanently if you don't have a lot of money or even any steady money coming in. The Philippines basically you can extend up to 3 years leave for a day come back no limits on how many times you can do it. Highland you can only leave the country to extend two times for certain and you might get away with a third in a year's time but that's it

    • @JeremiahBrewer00
      @JeremiahBrewer00  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. That’s definitely a con for sure. They’re trying to keep more wealthy people in the country to spend their retirement or higher earnings. The policies in place make that absolutely clear. We’re currently changing our visa situation right now. (We came and left 4 times in 6 months). Immigration is not happy haha.

In fact, I'm the only one in my entire family going back to my grandparents that has ever been to the Philippines or Thailand or even been overseas except for my grandfather in the military. I get it they want people that have money to be there but I mean I'm one of the low percentage of people that make a low income that love to travel and that love other cultures. It's kind of a bummer for me because I love traveling to those places and just because I'm not in the top one percent to me it's not a very good reason for me not to be able to save my money and go on trips

      @@JeremiahBrewer00 I've heard of that option but I've also heard you have to have a two-year degree in something. I have like a year and a half degree in industrial maintenance that I've never used but other than that I don't have any extra education after high School. I could easily live there on a thousand a month but I could even do it cheaper than that because I know someone I can stay with and just help pay the groceries and the food because the house is paid for. Probably could do it for $500 a month

      @@andrewbrann6231 it depends on the school you’re applying for. The TEFL is your foot in the door. A lot of schools will have you teach a sample lesson (the course will show you how) in your interview. If you have that cert, some school will take you. The income difference for someone who has a degree vs someone who doesn’t could be large but everything depends. I know people with degrees making $800 and people without making $1200 and so on.
      My personal suggestion is $1000/month as a bare minimum for someone transitioning. In time you can get your expenses down but up front it’s not so easy. There are a lot of different things people aren’t prepared for when they move here. Simple things but many.
      In conclusion, you can totally get a job without a degree. Many expat teaching don’t have degrees. A lot do though.

    • @JeremiahBrewer00
      @JeremiahBrewer00  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question.
      I can say I’ve always been interested in Thailand and Malaysia but Thailand made the most sense. I think it’s the better country to base out of to do travels in SE Asia and beyond. It offers the most overall.
      We want to visit the Caribbean, Africa, and, Europe and South America but haven’t thought about living there. Mexico was in high consideration. Probably #3 behind Thailand and Malaysia.

    • @JeremiahBrewer00
      @JeremiahBrewer00  ปีที่แล้ว

      US citizens can get a VISA On Arrival. Right now that’ll get someone 45 days (and you can extend 30 days).
      We’ve do this a few times and traveled SE Asia in between visa runs.
      We planned that from jump so I’d suggest a longer term visa like education if you don’t have planned travel outside of Thailand.
      Education visa is solid. We’re in that process now.

      Pattaya is cool. Coming from downtown Los Angeles we wanted a less congested experience up front. Moving where we did allowed us to decompress. Probably more than we wanted to at times but Pattaya is bomb. It’s so underrated and unexplored!

    I retired 3 months ago and been out here in SE Asia ever since. I spent the first 2 months in CM. I love Thailand. It's ridiculously cheap to live there, but the language barrier was annoying. I been in English speaking Malaysia for a month and I feel it's better. Not as cheap, but better infrastructure and logistics.

    • @JeremiahBrewer00
      @JeremiahBrewer00  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice. We considered Malaysia for the same reasons. I haven’t visited yet but I know I’ll love it. The language barrier here in Thailand doesn’t bother me mostly. It’s been a struggle at times but I desire to learn the language so I guess it’s a part of the process.
