    I’ve been a psych professional for over 2 decades. Postpartum psychosis is so scary. If they say “I want to hurt my baby”, they mean it. They’re letting you know to take the baby or get the baby placed. Get the mom inpatient treatment ASAP. Usually it clears within a few months, but this woman was high-risk due to a chronic psychotic disorder. The medical system and family failed her.

      My prayers go out to Audi. Who’s got the mental issues going on but what’s really disturbing is how her sister and mother were so quick to give that baby back knowing that his mother was trying to find help. I would say the fault would be theirs as well because they didn’t help her to find the help that she needed, and the thought of them releasing the baby back to her knowing she’s going through that puts them liable and responsible for these babies death. Knowing how unstable OTTY was they handed him back to her that’s definitely something they gotta live with and then as she finally calm down listen to it the sister says her as if nothing happened. I don’t know somethings fishy about that nonetheless rest in peace to the baby, and I hope that this experience will get many more mental patients to help that they need.

      The sister had experienced her episodes before and saw them being non violent, in her mind her sister just needed to hand the baby off for a bit while she got a hold of herself, after handing the baby back to the mother the episode resumed and the voices told her the sister was dead there by convincing her that she couldn't give the baby back. It's unclear how aware the sister was of what these episodes consisted of, she likely underestimated the severity of the situation, believing that her sister(the mother) would never hurt the baby because in her mind she could never hurt anyone, the sister isn't to blame, sometimes it's just harder to see the full picture when you're that close to things.

    The fact it took so long to locate the house is my worst fear come true. Our house is located on a small backstreet off of the main street. There are only 4 houses back here and despite having a sign up saying our addresses are around the back routinely every delivery driver cannot find it and it takes 10 minutes and often walking out onto the main street to get them to find us. We had an emergency last year (it was much milder than we thought and my family member was fine thankfully) and luckily a neighbour heard the commotion and went out to signal the ambulance. But im terrified of one day something worse happening and no one being there to help them find us. I always tried to comfort myself thinking that emergency services would pay more attention to street signs than a delivery driver but hearing this series has reminded me how human these people are and mistakes are still possible to make especially in the dark when that sign isnt as visible

    • @Punk-Pikachu
      @Punk-Pikachu 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That's what happened to me once. I had very high pulse, and feared i would faint and called emergency services. Our House was the only one in the street, somewhere between two villages. We got the number 21, and all the other houses with the same street name were actually on an road opposite to us.
      I saw the emergency drive up and down the road in the distance while trying to remain calm while trying to describe the location of our house to them.

You never know how people think but it just seemed to me like as soon as she started calling him Pablo and he went along with it, the deal was sealed and I knew he was going to shoot himself on that 911 call. He had already made up his mind and she made it easier by not even calling him Daniel which made it much more impersonal. Just my opinion but I just felt something change with him as soon as he just went along with Pablo instead of even attempting to correct her. These are all something else I have heard them but everytime I hear it again it's still shocks me and freaks me out. Unless you know otherwise and I doubt you do, her sister did not become her legal guardian. Please except the reality, that some people are not curable, and NEVER will be. Both the mother and the sister were too stupid to make the correct choice: tell CPS about her history, decline involvement and insist that the baby be adopted, immediately. The sister could have prevented it, yeah, but that's not the sickening part. The sickening part is our healthcare. She could have gotten better help a lot faster, had she been able to afford it and been taken seriously. Hospitals act like everyone is out for pain pills or drugs of some sort, and mental health professionals don't validate the severity of your illness. Drugs are expensive, visits and check-ups are expensive, and there is not a whole lot of empathy in these professions. It's irresponsible of the sister, but it's more irresponsible of the healthcare system that fails every American.

      @sparky.scott09 3 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      @Jedi Patriot, @your sleep paralysis, @Ja Nay, @Delphine, the worst Blade ever, @lyrics Marie, please think about this: everything is generally completely clear in hindsight. think of someone you know who has a mental illness, or even someone who is struggling with addiction (sometimes even someone just struggling with a bad habit is similar), both people who have heard voices and been on drugs (not saying it has to be both b/c the drugs made her worse in this situation) have been able to recover and live productive lives, managing their lives, maybe having to deal with a set-back once or twice.
      it's very easy for us to sit here with all the information after it had happened but she had been doing better. this is unfortunately pretty common, how many times do you hear about a mass shooter and people say omg! he was totally normal or this guy didn't bother anyone. putting the blame on family members, who neither have the training to recognize things a layman wouldn't and is most likely trying to do her best, helping her sister take care of her mental health, which can be a nightmare through the nature of many mental health issues, while having her live with her and the newborn, which on top of just helping would raise daily stress levels even more, clouding judgement, to intermittently raising the newborn while trying to asses when and if the sister is doing better to take care of the child.
      can you imagine living like that and trying to function day-to-day, then when you see your loved one doing well. as the mother, she has the right to, on top of it being a relief for the family member, not just because of the responsibility but being happy seeing your family member starting to do well, especially with a child. like @Masha Spikego, the sister was not trained to tell if she was okay and a medical professional could have just as easily said she was okay and then this happened. that's part of the insidiousness of mental illness. mental health in this country in general needs a better system but it's hard enough as it is, maybe one day we will get there.

    Woman who has an extensive history of psychosis as well as suicidal and homicidal thoughts: Please admit me to the hospital. I am hearing voices telling me to kill my son, and he's not safe with me.
    Hospital: lol no you're fine
    Woman: Sister, please take my child. I am hearing voices telling me to kill him, and he's not safe with me.
    Sister: lol no you're fine
    Woman: *kills child*
    Everyone: OMG how could she?? No one saw this coming how did this happen? Why didn't she just reach out???
    As someone who struggles with hallucinations and delusions as part of my mental health disorder this shit pisses me off so badly. Literally the first and last thing they teach you in any kind of mental health treatment is to reach out for help if you need it. How are people supposed to get help if it will fall on deaf ears? Of course the child is a victim and was severely wronged but in this situation the mother is just as much a victim. Not only does she have schizophrenia to deal with, but now she has to live with what she's done on top of a manslaughter charge when the situation could have been avoided so easily.

      As someone with psychosis, I agree.
      Sometimes illnesses like this are heavily influenced by our emotions. Turning that mother away constantly when she was begging for help, was a dick move.
      It's the same thing with suicidal people. Others ignore their cries for help, but once they take their life, then everyone makes a surprised pikachu face because they "didn't know what happened".

      I know Otty Sanchez as a friend and coworker. I do know she and her family repeatedly asked for help, made numerous trips to doctors and ERs. All in vain. To listen to people on a daily basis state that she should be killed, dragged in the streets, set on fire in the street and so on took a toll on all of us who knew her. She is in the state mental hospital and will not be released. Only her family can visit. She has to live with this. I know for a fact she loved Stephen with all her heart and would never under any normal circumstance EVER hurt him. She would have died to protect him. The health care system and doctors let her down at every turn. Thank you for realizing the truth.
