Poor Colter, I was really pulling for him as well as you. He just seems like a genuine, kind, and humble person on the show. One episode left - I'm still pulling for you.
I'm constantly impressed by your positive perspective about your competitors. There are so many armchair experts but you've been there, and your insight is ultimately credible
At the start of the season I found it hard to take Theresa seriously. At this point it is clear she’s a complete and total badass deserving of all our respect. Champion level forager and tough as nails.
Agree on the "gatherer" skills. Think she needed to hone her "hunter" skills more and she might have won. Still, those Wyoming girls are tough as nails, and smart too!
I agree about Colter...I felt so bad that he thought he failed. I hope he now understands that his efforts were the opposite of failure. He did the best he could! 🌲♥️🌲
They were set a hard task. No salmon run, very few game and strict rules what you can take. That left all of them scant pickings. Even though Coulter took fishing to a new level with his canoe ama and netting. In a true survival situation you’d roam until you found game and wouldn’t be restricted by arbitrary rules. Coulter certainly didn’t fail!
I honestly felt like Coulter, with his boat+net combo was your biggest competitor in the running. Unless Biko starts to hammer some fish I think clay has it in the bag...
“There’s a place called adventure that lives just on the horizon. It calls us forth, over the next ridge, and around the bend. It’s where life’s good stories live, the ones told around camp fires for a lifetime and more. But, adventure doesn’t give up her secrets easily. She keep’s them hidden from all but the most willing...willing to pay the asking price.” Clay Hayes
I love the philosophy that you share from your experience, and the sincerity of your respect for Colter is palpable. Like much of life, his results on the show don't necessarily reflect his performance. Was really amazing to see you take that deer. Rooting for you!
Never watched Alone before you entered the picture. Probably won't watch again. I've followed your youtube work because of my interest in traditional archery and hunting. The lifestyle choices you and your family have made are inviable and inspiring. You make a living off the land and share your hard work and plentiful results. There is nothing more important than raising your sons with a strong sense of internal security. Thanks for sharing your love for your family and your internal will to do what is right. Your work on Alone has been insightful, inspiring and reveals the ability of the human being to survive. Best wishes to you and your family. Hoping you are standing at the end.
Awesome recap. I felt so sorry for Colter because he has one of the best attitudes and spirit I've seen. So awesome y'all had a chance to hang out. Hopefully you can make that trip to Alaska to visit him.
I'm shocked that the producers of the show don't release weekly dumps of "cutting room floor" content on TH-cam or some other streaming platform. I think people would watch hours of net tying, shelter building, fishing, trap setting, trap checking etc.
Yeah man I feel like maybe sometimes they aren't picking the best stuff to put in the show... We've hardly seen any hunting outside of clay, basically zero trapping, very little of the herblore stuff which is interesting... I'm afraid they went and picked too extreme of a location again... You gotta give you contestants something, no one wants it to just be a complete starvation fest like this one, as well as several of the earlier seasons..
@@themadpsyentist4633 I feel the same way too. But then I thought more about it, and came to understanding that because the crew is so skilful and mentally tough, that any edge you give them, they'll thrive from it, and it'll take even more months of filming and perhaps for accidents to happen for an eventual winner to emerge. Every new season, the contestants learn so much from previous ones and further hone themselves and it might even be possible that a middle of the pack survivor from season 10 would have won if they competed against season 1 contestants. Mad respect to each new season contestants. It defo is much harder to win with each new season.
I get tired of them only showing people talking of hard ship they are having! I want to see how they manage the things they choose to bring. If you don't show how they manage those resources why even limit people to just ten items? For goodness sake show us some good stuff not just complaining!
Agreed! Colter definitely did not give himself enough credit. What a super guy and competitor. And Clay, you never cece to amaze me with the creativity and positive attitude you bring to the show. Never giving up and always driving forward. Kudos brother! Thanks for being an inspiration. Your just one of those guys that totally destroy there comfort zone and bust through brick walls. The thing about being inspired is a lot of people don't act on it. They leave their comfortable place and realize how hard it is and come quickly to the conclusion that they just fell in love with the idea. Uncomfortable is growth. Good job.
Clay, you are going to win this, but too I can’t get over how generous you are of your time.. From what I hear, TH-cam doesn’t pay that much so I appreciate your passion and to share so much of your time and life is amazing. I hope to meet you at one of the bow build gatherings someday. It’d be cool for me at least!
As soon as I saw the title of this video I decided I can't watch it. I thought, "episode 10? He must have made it to the last 2." I immediately bought Season 8 and watched it. Way to go Clay! WAY TO GO! You are living the dream buddy
The best part of your videos is how positive you are about the other participants in Alone. I hope that all of those who made it beyond the initial days from any episode have success from their experiences and exposure on Alone.
Something I found interesting about Coulter being pulled is He had an absolute obsession concerning fishing, his boat, and nets, but As soon as just surviving was taken out of the equation his perspective opened up. He realized he should have been hunting, and trapping as well. I can empathize 100%. There's a fine line between focus, and tunnel vision.
When they pulled Colter I said "Clay's gonna f'n win this thing! Biko's down to his last onion, Theresa's spent...it's over! The best of the best has outdone the rest. I'm offering my congrats now. Excellent representation, man. Excellent.
I wanted to say, how happy I was for you and your family. At times I was amazed, but not surprised. I loved when you tracked the grizzly unbelievable. I’m old man now don’t know if I’ll get to hunt this year, but I’ll get to, by watching you hunt I always like your videos. You taught me how to make a Osage that I could hunt with. I wasn’t going to admit, when I watching the last of the episode, I cried like a baby. So glad for you and your family. Never Stop.
yea colter's exit was probably the most heartbreaking of all time, wish he could see himself through our eyes and how inspiring he was.. please share that when you see him! (excited for your win next ep ;)
Agreed, I would absolutely love to see how Clay made the airplane. I've always wanted to learn to make something like that and I was very impressed that even the propeller worked. If I could make any airplane like that for my little kids I would feel like mom of the year.
When you got to go home to your wife and kids I shed a tear. It is not normal for me to react to tv shows and care but I have followed you for years and was so glad that you got what you deserved. It is good to see good things happening to good people.
Clay, awesome work with these recaps. I enjoy them as much as the show. In my eyes you are a man's man. Thank you for doing this. Can't wait until next week. You got this!
Chatted with Colter the other day on IG, felt so bad for him and you are right man, he crushed it on so many levels and he shouldn't ever think anything less! Love that you are doing these videos because it's so nice to see all the sides and hear participants speak about it!
I can’t wait for next week’s finale , man I’m rooting for you buddy !!! The air plane is so cool , I would definitely like for you to do an episode showing how you carved it !!!
I always am so disappointed when the weeks episode ends and then I have to wait a whole week for the next one. Is it Thursday yet, now I have to wait until a new season. Ugh.
I was very surprised when Colter got medically pulled. He seemed to be doing well. Much better than Biko and Theresa. I really thought it was going to come down to the two of you.
@taxation is theft memes news & more I can’t remember where but I believe it was put on screen at the end of the episode Edit: as in they put on screen where to look for the fireside chat
Been following you for 2-3 years now Clay. I have really enjoyed your insight and recap videos on season 8 ALONE. I'm looking forward to seeing you win this next week...
So sad for Colter. Hope he is proud of what he accomplished. He was in it, and never gave up. I was stressing the med check, I know your BMI is low. Teresa also looking at risk. Biko has a definite advantage in body mass and he is clearly using it. As I said before, very impressed by all you’ve done. Looking forward to next episode.
True Father thinking of his son. Another reason I've watched your videos and enjoy your passion for 4+ years now. A book on your bow building...and the plane yes, I'll be sure to watch and like. Get ready for hunting season brother, as I know you already are.
Been pulling for you the whole show. That buck made a world of difference for u. But u already know that. Great job. Be watching nxt Thursday I never miss watching ALONE.
I watched your channel to learn how to make bows. Started watching Alone because the guy that was teaching me how to make bows is on the show. You definitely made the show more interesting. Good luck with the book. Your the real deal.
You kicked butt brother. It's where we live that makes a rounded sportsman and outdoorsman. We learned to build a fire at early age. Hunting with our bows is and has been part of our life from a early age too. Look forward to meeting you some time. Congratulations.
That fishing system was IMPRESSIVE!!! when I saw it from the comfort of my couch I thought you were going to have the net line on the downcurrent arm of that "tank trap" triangle you made and the empty return line on the upcurrent arm so they wouldn't get tangled... but I knew when you said you were quitting on the gill net... I knew you weren't quitting... and I knew it was a good rig and would work eventually. You were awesome out there! 🤙🏽
Love the recaps. Love the airplane. Excited about the finale; all three of you have so many great qualities and strong desire to finish, as did Colter, sadly. You have all inspired me to build a structure out of downed trees; just bought 10 heavily forested acres in Hope, ID.
Thanks for continuing to be gracious towards your fellow competitors. LMK if you ever want to hunt Pennsylvania whitetails. We start with archery in October and finish with flintlock muzzleloader after Christmas.
Clay, I have watched season 8 three times. You are my favorite and i have watched them all twice except for 8. I like your video's with your family also.
DEFINATLEY want to see your predator call and airplane. Side story. Colter happens to be a good friend of one of my friends who is a former teacher in Alaska. I was sad to see him go but now I get to root for you! Glad I found your TH-cam channel. These deep dives are quite interesting. Keep up the great work!
had to watch alone from a motel right after some eye surgery but we were glad to see it was on the TV there. I had figured that it would come down to you and Colter and was surprised. I once was turkey hunting the Ouachita Mountains, it had rained hard the days before and the red clay was a mess. I avoided the red clay in the old logging road as I made my way up to where I meant to sit and hunt. I called and listened for several hours but heard nothing and saw nothing. When I stood up and turned around, within three feet of me were fresh muddy bear tracks. It had walked past where I had parked and walked right up the logging road all the way to me and I never knew it was there.
I think y’all are outstanding I’ve always dreamed of using my military training in that situation. Growing up hunting fishing camping and living alone in the woods on the Great Lakes. Sadly my body can’t handle it anymore I still hunt and fish. Y’all are outstanding!
Awesome job Clay! From the first episode I knew you were going to be the one. You killed it dude! After all these years I'm finally seriously making the effort to get on the show myself. Would love to pick your brain a bit, and look forward to getting your book!!!
I was so excited when Colter caught that last fish, and I thought he was going to continue. Very disappointed when he was pulled. What a great man! I actually thought Theresa was going to be pulled because she was getting so skinny, and only had eaten rose hips. This video was very insightful. Awesome.
I'm from Down under. New Zealand. Loved watching Alone with you Coulter, Biko and Therese. Kia kaha. Stay strong. Love light blessings to you and your wife and sons. Arohanui. Rose 💞🌻🌼💮🌹
Anyone who makes it to the top 4 in this show deserves high praise. Mentally I don't think I'd be able to do it. I tell myself I could but then I spend three days alone camping and crave civilization. Colter's medical tap was sad and surprising - I think mentally him and Theresa were your toughest competition. Theresa is mentally tough as nails; she earned my respect as the season wore on.
I felt so bad that Colter put his self down, when he had to leave. He did an amazing job out there. I was scared for him in that boat too.. Love your videos Clay..😉
Fantastic ! in-depth to-the-point talk, thank you! ..You explained a few things that we didn't have to ask. Looking forward to the tournament of champions for you in a better ecosystem. Great articulate recap appreciate it.
Well you have had more to eat than anyone. You seen deer sign and jump right on that chance. You got a grouse , you seem to be more of a hunter than the others. I'm pulling for you I think you got it.
The predator call sounded great. Totally understand your reluctance to use with yogi hanging around. Four people doing things four different ways. Riveting. Thanks
Dude you're freaking awesome. The way you had everything mentally together and physically together was truly amazing. You a truly a good dude. Would love to meet you one day bro. Rooting for you 1000%
Thanks so much Clay! As an Australian actually only discovered the show...wow! Love it. Clay, you along with the others in season 8 that I have just watched have been such sn inspiration! It has really made me stop and reflect about some key messages for life.......make the most of what you have...but also in an age of consumption..there is so much we just don't need. ..seek adventure (loved your poem)...but also cherish your family...cherish your friends! Determined to get my two boys out now more into the outdoors and away from screens. Thanks so much! (and also looking forward to our first Australian version of Alone which is coming...should be an interesting angle down under...where Grizzlies and cold may be replaced by all manner of venomous animals and mssaive heat! Thanks again!
Gosh I want the chance to go on Alone. The first episode I watched you in I was like goodness maybe it's not impossible. I'm right in lewiston now. I can't imagine how many people apply. Looking forward to the finale. You've killed it man. Great job!
Hey Clay, Love the airplane! You do good work. Thanks for the updates on the tv show episodes. I’ve enjoyed your channel and website for some years now. I live in Western Colorado and as I’m sure you know, there’s no harvesting bow staves for hundreds of miles. Probably the same in Idaho I reckon. So, I do the best I can with what I can find on the rack. I know what to look for and how to go about it because of your channel and website. I appreciate your attention to detail with the building your videos. It seems that the words “good enough” are not in your vocabulary. God bless and keep up the good work sir!
Seeing Colter go was heart wrenching..... I'm wondering if they do an ekg to determine heart stress like the doctors mentioned in this episode or go by the sound alone? .... thanks for your comments and thoughts Clay... loved the description of the fishing this season... made me smile. but so so true
Clay your AWESOME! I am hoping to see your call in the cat before it’s over. That would be Legit! I Listened to you and Randy today and enjoyed every minute of it! Looking forward to meeting you in person next time we cross paths. Good Luck!
I can't believe next week is the last week. It feels like the show just started. I wish there were more episodes and they spread it out longer. Oh well. I'll probably be waiting another year to watch one of my favorite shows.
Clay...your effort was inspirational. How much would you have love to take out that Fisher lol? I was routing for you from the get go. Your deer hunt was a great watch. Fishing didn't go great, but you never gave up on your snares. When you won...I literally jumped up and start chanting yes. Biko was one tough competitor. Congrats to you and your family...you earned it!
I would love to see how you made that predator call. In the summer, I just use a blade of grass. I have a call that I make and use for fall and winter but not with a rawhide reed. For people that want to try a predator call, be careful where you use it. Make sure nothing can sneak up from behind you. They work very, very well, and many people have been attacked by all types of large predators when using one.
Congrats on the win Clay , it was a well deserved win , i have been emailing the alone cast for the last few years and i cant even get a response from them .
My wife and i were talking about how difficult the med checks would be on you. You do not know what they know about how the other participants are doing in comparison to you. If like you they know the others have a stash of food that you do not have, and have not been able to gather. I really like your recaps thank you for your time.
Great recap video, very insightful! Colter seemed to be catching the most amount of fish (fat)… he was the last one I expected to get pulled out. How can you explain that? Maybe he didn’t consume enough veggies with essentiel nutrients?
Clay, I was intrigued by how you described your response to problem solving as it reminds me of my own base approach. When faced with a formidable challenge, you'll probably have to gather some data, research, and stress over finding an answer. Often, those answers don't emerge easily. There are savants that can think their way through a new problem as easily as picking which rocks to hop on to cross a stream, but for most of us mortals, the reality is more biblical in nature - you know - sweat, toil, and suffering. I find that I cannot just push through to a conclusion of these things; it takes time and stress to pull together the necessary parts. If you don't give up, and you keep considering options and quality factors, you'll probably find a pleasing solution. Without the stress, those solutions diminish in quality. Without dwell time to consider all the factors surrounding the problem, quality suffers. Over the years, I've solved a lot of things this way. I wish I could more fluently pick a solution out of thin air, but that's not my gift. I can solve a lot of problems that defeat other people, but it takes time and thought in my case.

Agreed 🙌
And such a positive attitude. She definitely earned my respect. I loved her way of looking at life and celebrating along her journey.
I loved her home. From season one I said dig down build up.
Agree on the "gatherer" skills. Think she needed to hone her "hunter" skills more and she might have won. Still, those Wyoming girls are tough as nails, and smart too!
Still struggle with the on and off accent but nobody can argue her absolute badassness! Best house I've seen to date in my opinion. Hers and Roland's.
I agree about Colter...I felt so bad that he thought he failed. I hope he now understands that his efforts were the opposite of failure. He did the best he could! 🌲♥️🌲

Can we all agree that the subtitle to Bikos fish was the funniest thing that's ever happened on Alone "almost 35 calories" 🤣🤣🤣
😆
Biko was pretty hilarious...dude cracked me up. I actually found him annoying at first but as time went on I began to enjoy who he is.

Can anyone clarify, did Clay write that or was he quoting it? Very awesome truths!
Imagine a calender with beautiful pictures of Idaho's landscape and quotes like this from Clay.

Thanks Nathan
had to watch alone from a motel right after some eye surgery but we were glad to see it was on the TV there.
😳
You're sounding more and more of the Alone winner. Congratulations!
I think y’all are outstanding I’ve always dreamed of using my military training in that situation. Growing up hunting fishing camping and living alone in the woods on the Great Lakes. Sadly my body can’t handle it anymore I still hunt and fish. Y’all are outstanding!
Many thanks
Arohanui.
Rose 💞🌻🌼💮🌹
Thanks Rose
He did it!! Congratulations, Clay!
She's a tough gal for sure!
I felt so bad that Colter put his self down, when he had to leave. He did an amazing job out there. I was scared for him in that boat too.. Love your videos Clay..😉
Colter is a great person. Love that guy!
WHY SCARED, I'M SURE HE COULD SWIN IF IT CAPSIZES
I'm so glad you won. Congrats Sir.
Congrats Clay. A job well done! Season 8 was the only season I’ve watched and it was because I knew you were in it. Again, congrats. 🤟🤙
Thanks
Fantastic ! in-depth to-the-point talk, thank you! ..You explained a few things that we didn't have to ask. Looking forward to the tournament of champions for you in a better ecosystem. Great articulate recap appreciate it.
Thanks Dave
I new it... no doubt in mind you were going to be the winner. Congratulations!!!.
Alone is my favorite show! Thank you for these reviews and insights! I'm pulling for you. :)
Thanks Diann
I’m stoked for the finale. One of three tops are going to win!!!
LOVE that airplane! Can't wait for the last episode, killing me.
Great little model planes. Nothing like a toy made by a dad for his boys. Well done.
Couldn't agree more!
Your reviews have been spectacular! I’m excited to see you finish!
Riveting. Thanks
Thanks so much. I'd love to see the plane build. Congratulations on your book. Pulling for you getting the cat and win!
Dude you're freaking awesome. The way you had everything mentally together and physically together was truly amazing. You a truly a good dude. Would love to meet you one day bro. Rooting for you 1000%
Thanks
Ugh this forced tap out hurt my heart, happy you're still going but man it's always so sad when it's a medical tap.
Agreed
Hey Clay....roger here in New Mexico...great job on Alone....very proud of you...
This is a great video. Love the positivity!
Congratulations Clay
It was a pleasure watching u survive and take the win
Thanks Carol
Wow, thanks Clay. Love hearing your insights!
Curious if you sharpened your knife after using it so much and how/what you used? Maybe a video of it? Thanks as always enjoy your insights
I used a flat stone.
Gosh I want the chance to go on Alone. The first episode I watched you in I was like goodness maybe it's not impossible. I'm right in lewiston now. I can't imagine how many people apply. Looking forward to the finale. You've killed it man. Great job!
Thanks Kevin
@@clayhayeshunter you're welcome. ever need an extra to bugle some in let me know.
episode 1 I knew you would win. I can only imagine how hard it was but congratulations!
Hey Clay,
Love the airplane!
I hate seeing Colter pulled like that. I think him and you, Clay, were really on top of your games with your planning ahead and strategies.
Great recap! Would love to see how you built the predator call. Thanks for your insights!
Clay thanks for sharing, & the content is outstanding. I am definitely excited to read the book
thanks ,loved watching your journey
Seeing Colter go was heart wrenching..... I'm wondering if they do an ekg to determine heart stress like the doctors mentioned in this episode or go by the sound alone? .... thanks for your comments and thoughts Clay... loved the description of the fishing this season... made me smile. but so so true
Excellent recap and sound words from Seneca as well. Hope you'll have time to do the place and the call. Looking forward to your book.
Nate
Clay your AWESOME! I am hoping to see your call in the cat before it’s over. That would be Legit! I Listened to you and Randy today and enjoyed every minute of it! Looking forward to meeting you in person next time we cross paths. Good Luck!
I love the philosophy that you bring with you, definitely quotable material my man. Wish I could transcribe it for you. Clay for the win!
I can't believe next week is the last week. It feels like the show just started. I wish there were more episodes and they spread it out longer. Oh well. I'll probably be waiting another year to watch one of my favorite shows.
I’ll keep uploading vids here though!
I was thinking the same, would be awesome to call an animal with a self made call.
I waited for his wife to come up from behind him, as usual
This is yours to win Clay, Coulter was the one I thought would be giving you a run. I’m pumped to see what the blood trail is all about.
Glad your still going!
Thanks for these vids, Clay. Good behind the scenes info.
My pleasure
Excellent video and recap!
Great recap video, very insightful! Colter seemed to be catching the most amount of fish (fat)… he was the last one I expected to get pulled out. How can you explain that? Maybe he didn’t consume enough veggies with essentiel nutrients?
they dont show what everyone caught, just bits. they try their best to make it look even/ or opposite to surprise you
Clay, I was intrigued by how you described your response to problem solving as it reminds me of my own base approach.
