    So the takeaway here is that the knife has apparently "healed" itself... Cold Steel for the win! I love my Air Lite btw! Great video broski

      It's a function of the Tri-AD lock actually. It's designed to wear in and bite deeper as it gets used. Most likely it just needed the open and close actions to help it seat further in and take up any slack. That lock is basically what is keeping Cold Steel relevant. lol

    • @megaronknives3032
      @megaronknives3032  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DefMunkyYT yeah the Triad lock really wears in nicely. I like them for their hollow grinds as well. I think they found a really good price/performance ratio niche on the market. They really came a long way. A lot of ups and downs. And a lot of dead pigs that were chopped apart XD

  • @matthewadler1329

    Usually when the triad lock gets broken in, the lock bar starts to sit down flush with the scales (in my experience) the blade play is alarming, and I'm hearing this elsewhere...that's gonna be a deal breaker. Damn shame. I was really wanting this guy.

    • @megaronknives3032
      @megaronknives3032  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Eventhough the build quality is not perfect, there is no need to be concerned here, i think the bigger question is, if this knife is slicey enough for you.

    Great video. The one I received had some blade play no matter how tight I tightened it, but it also had a slight weird gritty feeling when opening, couldn't tell what that was, sent it back because of the blade play mainly. Will get another one soon and see if I just got a lemon.

    • @megaronknives3032
      @megaronknives3032  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wouldn´t worry about blade play in that price range too much, i know we are used to a higher standard, but it´s gonna be a user anyway. If you have that problem again, just open and close it a bunch of times, maybe give it some cleaning, it might go away with that.

    • @msharmall7298
      @msharmall7298 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@megaronknives3032 Tried that to no avail, it just was sad since I had just got a Cold Steel Khan with the smoothest action I've ever seen on a triad lock, and ZERO blade play! I mean the thing dropped shut, a little 7 inch knife. On a 35$ knife. Soo.. I might have to learn to live with it, but it'll annoy the hell out of me until then.

    • @megaronknives3032
      @megaronknives3032  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@msharmall7298 yeah i get that. There is this part inside a knife nerd, that just wants perfection. I think it really is the way they produce these. Some models cost less than others but are better built. Generally speaking a lot of budget knives are better and better made than they used to, so there are a lot of expectations in the mid range knives, although i think it´s all about performance there. Long story short we are confused of what to expect, because we think that at a higher price range you get more quality, but that´s not true for every knife..
      peace man

    Now I have used a knife to cut lots of stuff it probably shouldn’t. mainly I use it as a gasket scraper. An I’ve removed a few staples but don’t know why anyone would use a knife to remove nails.
    Coldsteel make a workmans knife. Most TH-camers are knife collectors. I buy coldsteel because they make the best knife for your dollar. Prove me wrong

    • @megaronknives3032
      @megaronknives3032  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree, this test goes back on a discussion where we argued about if Cold Steels just have a lot of up and down strength or also side to side. I would defenetly not recommend you doing this at all. I just wanted to show you that it is possible. This knife is super strong considering it´s weightclass!
      Please don´t be triggered. Some things you see on this channel are only for testing purposes. This is not how i use my knives in real life.

      @@megaronknives3032 lol no you abusing your stuff entertains me it doesn't up set me. But im from a generation of breaking our bikes jumping an skateboards. Probably why bikes are so tuff now. Because of my generation on Bmx. I was just kinda pointing out the very obvious mainly because you picked a linerless knife to pry with. I would imagine a tanto voyager would be even stronger.
      I guess it's a good data point. I really didn't realize the blade was that thick i have the broken skull an it is lazer beam of a cutter.
      I might have to grab one of those I really love that steel on my vaquero an rahja2 its really above its pay grade. Can't wait for your next idea. Stay safe bro

      @@richardhenry1969 Yeah the Voyager Tanto is even stronger. For a linerless knife and such a small pivot it´s quite impressive. Love the Brokenskull, the Air Lite with the Tanto blade is not such a great slicer. Can´t recommend it as a cutting tool.
      AUS-10A is awesome, it´s a really great user steel. Really enjoy that stuff.

    I can tell you have blade play because the screws are backed out so much. Out of all my triad locks they shouldnt be able to flick out that easy without the screws being really loose.

    I know all about Cold Steel knives, and I know the whole reason for this video, but oh my Lord, it's painful to watch a knife being abused like that and if anybody does this sort of thing to their knives for real you deserve to have it break on you and injure you.

    • @megaronknives3032
      @megaronknives3032  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Hey man, this was just to showcase the strength. Please do not believe that i use my knives like that all the time. I am just really interestet if a knife with that kind of weight can hold up to such abuse.
      You should not wish other people injuries and pain, especially if you don´t know them and the whole story behind it. Don´t be a keyboard warrior, be a gentleman and have a good one.
