The real non-denominational miracle is that you baked the lid with sculpey, and it didn't warp into a bowl. All my bakes that involve a wood base turn in fruit platters.
The wood should be seasoned and not fresh and it should be thicker than 1/2cm and/or a box or frame, since it has supporting walls that keep the flat part straight- z (2 cents mcgee :))
I have learned so much about how to use the tools and different techniques for sculpting, but the most important to me is how you use a black base because that's what you like; I was always taught and thought that it had to be white but you've shown me that it doesn't have to be only one way. Thanks so much Zan for breaking that mental chain.
Haven't watched yet but I'm always so excited to get a video from you Edit: absolutely amazing you have one of the best styles I've ever seen its always such a pleasure to watch 🙂
Whoa??? Very clever details, that felt and sewing (new skill has joined the game?? I don't think I've seen you do sewing on this channel before...?) part surprised me, I was like "just what are they doing, is that gonna even look good..." Then the felt flag turned out to be a very clever and cool way to store pins/studs!!?? Your creations are always full of surprises
I don't know if I've said it before but it is such a joyous moment to watch you create. I sit with my head in my hands and just admire the whole process and results.
I'm always in awe at your style and imagination. I can never figure out which direction you're going in, and that's always part of the fun! I also enjoy watching your cat supervise your work. The detail in this diorama made my skin crawl in a good way. .
Thanks for sharing your awesome work. I enjoyed every minute watching your video. You have cool ideas and you are an inspiration as well. Have a good time!
I would like to see your music playlists lol you always have great music in your videos. Your sculpture style is really unique and interesting too! (for some reason it took me to this video to comment even though I've watched your whole library XD ) Keep creating awesome things!
I discovered/binge watched your channel today,. Truly fascinating to watch and kept me occupied on yet another rainy day in Mullumbimby :) I admire your creativity and appreciate your rustic, dark and slightly twisted art. I hope to build a house in the same vein one day. Have you ever tried experimenting with burning the timber with mapp gas and sanding the charcoal off with fine steel wool? It gives you a very similar colour to the stain/gel you quite often use and gives it a really nice weathered texture. Also, on a side note, would be really awesome to see your interpretation of Nightmare before Christmas/Corpse bride etc, if you're ever feeling that way inclined :)
I've seen the technique used on furniture. It seems more messy from what I've seen, I don't really want to make charcoal dust inside my house, on my desk, near clean clay. Plus a lot of the wood I'm using is cheap and thin (sometimes balsa as well) which could possibly just outright combust into ash. Thank you for your kind words :) and thanks for watching (all of it lol) 😊
@@ZanVonZed Yeah, it's definitely an outdoor kind of job. I've done it with Dragon fruit tree, cypress and pine. I think if you were quick enough, you could possibly do it with balsa too, but there's no promises here, that it wont just turn to ash haha. Thank You for sharing your art. I look forward to the next one :)
I'm glad to see that you are using self-hardening clay. It hurt me to see, like any artist who was a student, that you used polymer clay for rough work. I've always calculated the cost of polymer clay, and it was sad that it was so expensive ... I wanted to ask you if you liked working with self-hardening clay?
Wow that is spectacular, your attention to detail really makes each piece so very mesmerizing! Quick question how do you bake the polymer clay pieces on the wood panels? Does it not burn the wood?
I have a question! Why do you stain the wood if you’re just going to put clay over it? Is it just for aesthetic or does it serve a different purpose? Ty!!
@@ZanVonZed Ha, I just saw the lemon and thought you might be. We're in Shizuoka and it's getting bloomin' cold. Take care and have a wonderful Christmas.
Happy Festivus to everyone!
and to you too =)
Ah, to all the rest of us!
You too!
I got one of those stainless steel straws, it's my miniature house Festivus Pole!
Merry Xenomorph-Mas...face hugs all around! :)
I love a good Zan Von Zed with amazing sculpting and a tasty dip into the 'bake.gif' folder.
The baking gifs are running out 😆
Your videos always have the best music. Paired with your phenomenal sculpting skills and ideas, it is a match made in viewing pleasure heaven!

I have no idea how you manage to paint your works so accurately, especial where it's hard to get to with a brush.

fabulosos..excellent..
Wow that is spectacular, your attention to detail really makes each piece so very mesmerizing! Quick question how do you bake the polymer clay pieces on the wood panels? Does it not burn the wood?
Polymer clay bakes at very low temperature, 215- 270 or so. Nothing happens to the wood.
Amazing!! I love it
Looks dope🔥
Delightful!
Excelente 👌👍👍👍👏👏👏
The two xenomorphs he has on the book door are a pair of earrings. They are cute, heavy and you can get them on wish for like 3$
Have a wonderful Christmas and all the best for 2021 !!
You are a rockstar 🤩😍
Lovely
You got my dream talent
I’m returning my gifts.... I got what i really wanted!!!
Merry Christmas 🙂
Where did you find the alien image that you placed on the banner? its spectacular.
Your art is beautiful and terrifying at the same time, who are you tim Burton?
1:41 feline inspector takes a look and decided this was beyond their wheelhouse... Lol.
Great to have a new video before the holidays!!!
These boxes are great, where do u get them?
I have a question! Why do you stain the wood if you’re just going to put clay over it? Is it just for aesthetic or does it serve a different purpose? Ty!!
Looks great! Are you living in Japan?
No, I’m just 10% weeb :|

Sooo coool!
great diorama!!
the second banner seemed out of place for me
I haven't used air dry clay. What was the difference between the two?
wow the cat really added some flair to that flag how did they do that?
I'm having s hard time telling what the top window is supposed to have in it?
Ваааааааааааааау, это очень круто
do you use acrylic paint on polymer clay??
Yes. Acrylic is the best for polymer clay. Other types can make the clay sticky over time.
The xenomorphs would be proud😂
I read the thumbnail wrong and I thought it said “alien have diarrhea” 😂
Cheguei cedo 😎
What... kind of cat is that? 👀👀
"bake" part :D
How do you remove cat hair from clay?
wow
What breed of cat it that?
👍
💖💖💖💋
👏😯 🔥💯👍
I just imagined the xenomorph replacing Eren in the intro of Attack on Titan
🐙
This is so fucking GOOD 💦🤘
So I just made alien egg mini dio. And I just watched your video. So now I hate mine and I'm gonna throw it in the trash after I smash it
Bad freekin ass
When you gonna start a Patreon?!?! I get way too much value from your videos to not pay you for it.
wow
