If the music ever had to stop, he might make an excellent candidate for LA state governor or NO city mayor. If none of that happened, I'd even accept listening to him, Oddisee, Killer Mike, K.Lamar, Yasiin Bey(Mos Def), Common, Lupe Fiasco and Robert Glasper having a public political discussion...that'd be heat in a whole 'nother way!

An open letter to Christian Scott
    Dear Christian,
It's long overdue, but we only have the present. This is my moment to say thank you, to you and the other bright and fiery stars that make this soulful, culturally sensitive and historically rich music, which is supplemented by an introspective form of commentary that our generation desperately needs - especially the general population in America.
During your Tiny Desk concert, you tell the phenomenal story of your encounter with racial profiling. In excruciatingly clear detail you explain the feeling of being wrongfully accused, publicly demeaned and threatened for no reason other than the fact you happen to be a black man in America, and a successful one to boot, which - as you articulate - evidently makes you even more of a target. Living in London, I have to say the problem exists here as well, but not on such a large scale and not in such an overt way. Still, as a white person with a certain amount of privilege, I cannot personally hope to understand the depths of this issue and the toll that it takes on people in the UK and the US. And yet, during your speech I came closer than ever before to comprehending and feeling in my body the pain and injustice that has become a daily part of the black man's psychological and physical experience in America, and to an extent in certain parts of the UK too. After all, it was not very long ago that our Mayor of London approved of using racial profiling to tackle knife crime in the capital. The greatest difference is that your average British police officer doesn't carry a firearm, which I am eternally grateful for. The second greatest difference is that the degree of fear between white cops and black citizens in England is nothing compared to the fear that seems to be bleeding America dry, to be sucking the beauty out of existence for so many young men across every state in the country, many of whom have enough problems to contend with besides being seen as a villain by the very people whose job it is to protect them.
How did we reach this position? The soul of society is waning in America and the UK is trailing behind. You seem to provide one of the most apt and thoughtful solutions to the problem, without pretending to have all the answers regarding how we reached this point. You deal with the ugly aspects of life in your country by addressing them verbally and non-verbally through your songs, in a way that is not maligned by any ill feelings towards anyone in particular. You see through the trees and recognize that it is the trappings of society at large, the institutions that shape the nation, which perpetuate and sustain the fear dividing otherwise connected bodies.
Your music takes viewers and listeners through stages of transcendence, from a place of pain through to a position of unwavering hope and fortitude. Simultaneously almost, you ignite the despair and the optimism and strength required to walk through injustice and forge a settlement built on mutual trust, peace and sensitivity.
I truly believe that you are a trailblazer, musically and culturally. Your music has and will continue to provide the experience people need to take stock, to reflect, to gather the courage required to progress, and finally to work collectively towards a position where compassion triumphs over fear. It is music that connects us to our environment when we are most lost, most isolated, and it is your music specifically that does this time and time again in a singular manner.
Again, thank you for your vision and your grace in articulating it. I am not one for idolosing others, but you are a remarkable man and anyone who has the opportunity to hear your rhythms will be better off as a result.
    Thank you.

Arthur Joe What we all must realize is that answers don’t always come quickly. If they come at all. Despite the difficulties we ALL face, we must come to realize that different experiences produce different realities. To understand our differences, we just have to acknowledge that they are different. That is often enough. Your letter gives me hope. It makes my heart ache for the day when most people share your perspective. Thank you. Sincerely.

To Christian Scott; thank you for keeping the spirit of all those magnificent, wonderful and beautifully talented jazz musicians of our past. WhenI hear you blow, ans see the depth of you in your performances I hear Hubbard, Turentine, Carter, Laws, Dejonette, Idris Muhammad, Cobham, Grover Washington Jr, Eric Gayle, Tyner, Rason Roland Kirk, Sonny Rolins, Miles Davis Herbie Handcock, and so many others who lit the torch and kindled a fire that brought out the heat that burned inside the bowels our rich creativity.
Thank you my brother. You are greaty appreciated by those who really love and appreciate the only real and true art form that expresses our essence and our true story of our people and their inner souls: Jazz. We're all feelin it!

This guy is the new Miles Davis. This reminds me of Herbie Hancock, Bill Evans, to Pat Metheny et all pushing the envelope, all the amazing talent brought forth by a band leader with real vision. Innovative and progressive but with a deep, deep understanding of the tradition. This set is one of the best I've ever heard in any era.
This to me exemplifies the real soul of Jazz.
