I solved my fan problem by taking a new fan and holding it against the bottom of the case about where the old fan is located. I then drilled two very small holes in the bottom case in the approximate area of the fan screws. I was then able to loosen the screws thought the holes and pull out the fan and install the new one. This saved me from removing the entire guts of the PC just to replace the fan. The holes make no difference to the PC. Thanks again for the video and your replies.

Just used this video this morning when I got stuck swapping out the HDD for an SSD: Gently pry out the HDD to remove it. BONUS! Found the SATA to laptop adaptor was removable and installed it on the new SATA SSD. Everything boots and works!😃👍🏻💻

regazzz for future reference if anyone is having the same problem with lines distorting the screen, you need to follow this disassembly video all the way to the bezel removal, then look for a strip of aluminium tape that is stuck on the inside of the bezel above the screen power inverter, simply remove this tape and all your problems will go away, i cant for the life of me work out why its even there in the first place.

hello mate, i have an Acer Aspire 6930z and the Wifi LED i keep blinking on on and every few seconds when Wifi is turned on... is that normal ? or it should stay On, not blinking ?

    • @bellym1251

***** Does the Wi-Fi card happen to be Broadcom by any chance?
If so you can disable blinking by editing driver inf file or in the registry change:
      ledbh0 -1 to ledbh0 1.

I have Acer Aspire - 874G32Mn manufactured 09/04 and I must say this serie is one the best cooling design in the world, Temp up limit does not exceed 80 degrees celcius even under full load for hours (stress tests). I am still using my laptop and really happy with it.

I was stumped trying to loosen a HDD from this model. In this video you did it so very fast I could not see just what move you made to loosen the HDD from its connection to the motherboard. I did try sliding it a little & nothing happened, was concerned not to apply too much leverage. I did notice about 6 screws were missing from around the HDD due to previous technicians most likely losing them. I have successfully removed and replaced HDDs from other models, but this one stopped me cold. Other than that, a great video.

I like it, but I was hoping you would have also shown how to replace the DC jack. I can't take it out from the plastic. I had another laptop with a similar plastic design, but that one came off easily. Do you have any suggestions on what I should try? Thank you!

I answered my own question >.> I was using my flashlight and found a very small red latch on the inside and it pops the cover on the dc jack on the outside. It reveals two more screws that have to be taken out to continue the removal of the DC jack. Thank you again for the video! :D

  • @Stigggs
    @Stigggs 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thank you for replying so quickly. You are right - my eyes played a trick on me - I see now that you did not simply remove the base cover of the computer but instead had to pull off the entire guts out of the base cover from the top. That means this is the only way to replace the little grey fan at 11:53. The screws to this fan are under the base cover of the computer. To get to the screws I would have to remove almost all the internal organs from the top. Wish there was a better way.

Hi thanks for the video - I need to replace the fan and the video seems to have edited out the part where you took off the bottom cover off the lap top. I took out all the screws from the bottom but no go. Do you remember how to get the bottom off?

I you think it is booting up you have at least feel a fan working, but you also can plug in an external monitor (don't forget to switch to external monitor) and than look will anything appear. If not than it is possible that gpu is dead. If will than LCD bad or cable is not connected.

question... you didn't happen to look where the bluetooth connection on the mobo is did you? I know this model has the option by which i mean you can press that bluetooth light on the kb but that's about as much as it's going to work unless you get a bluetooth dongle. Just wondering if there's a connection thingymajig inside so I don't need to pick up the dongle.

Pretty late answer, but in case someone else comes here and sees this: Nope, I didn't have to take apart the screen when I replaced the thermal paste a while back. But it was pretty rough! This laptop's build is pretty complex, have to pay attention to details and be careful when connecting connectors again.

unopezzo I remember this ridiculous design. It giving me a headache just by looking at this type of dc jack location.
First of all you will need to remove a Front Bezel (around 14:25) than you will have a better access to a dc jack. There should be some screw/s that are holding it.

I am indeed a little bit afraid of opening it, so I´d like to ask first; is it possible that the lightning isn´t broken and it´s just a loose cable? And if it is broken, can I fix it or is it better to buy a new screen? Thanks in advance!

I don't know what it's called, but I have the same problem with my 6920. Mine is still there, but loose and wobbling around. Affects the charging of the battery. It'll say that it's 100% charged, but then just frequently dies. I have to put something under the charger plug to jack it up at an angle to get it to charge. It's very old still with Vista on it. Still going strong. I don't know if the power jack needs replacing or if it can be just tightened. It seems like those silver caps are screwed on. Mine just sits on my desk and I never move it or abuse it. Seems like just opening and closing the screen just wears it out. But it is like 15 years old!
