Hey, I want to congratulate you for your video and the care you have spent to explanation of details. I consider your video and your explanations are the clearer I have been through on TH-cam (...and English is not may native language...). I have started to apply your advises and also advises on fingers usage. Thanks again for your time and and your love for sharing.
Another great lesson, i gotta get with your program. Ive got an old TAMA rockstar and it's a great kit. I love your kit that is really something special.
You are soooo good with your tutorials I have checked out a couple. Thanks for sharing your gift. I am def inspired to get into the rudiments of drumming. Excited!
I am SOOO blessed to have watched a few of your videos and already my stick work has finally gotten somewhere! I love the slow and controlled method!!! I get so anxious when other drum TH-cam videos start somewhat slow and then they’re off to the races while I’m left in the dust. You’re amazing!!!! PTL!!!!🥰
Thank you.. this is a great lesson that I am going to have my daughter start doing. She is to lossey goosey with her right hand thumb and index finger so the stick is all over the place. Love your instruction and attention to detail.
It's been about a week and a half.... I have made more progress with my double stroke roll in 11 days than I have in months. I am now extremely thankful to say I can play clean double stroke rolls at 150bpm 16ths. Thank you for this. Things have started clicking. If you have any more drum line rolls please do share.
my god those drums are .....I dont even have words, a tama star kit in mint....whooooooo.....and yes they sound freakin great!!! Are you a tama artist now? or did you just purchase that kit, imagine that set ya back a lil , worth it though
Thanks for the detailed breakdown, I really appreciate the details. Does the speed eventually come from the addition of the arm movement and rebound combination?
Thanks so much. I’m happy the video was helpful. The speed comes from applying the fingers. When playing at slower tempos though we have to make sure the wrist are making clear movements in order to keep the rudiment clean 🧼 🥁 I hope that makes sense. That is the video on finger technique th-cam.com/video/aTWObUqFNlU/w-d-xo.html
Really enjoy your lessons! Have to ask about the fulcrum. You don't appear to have a "gap" between thumb and forefinger as many talk about, and your fulcrum seems to be between thumb and first segment of your forefinger up near the knuckle. Is this an accurate reading of where your fulcrum is? Thanks again for your excellent videos!
A great exercise. My approach is that the down stroke is controlled by gravity. ( let the stick fall ) totally relax and let the weight of the stick and your wrist dictate the velocity of your down stroke while keeping a semi firm grip. The upstroke is where you use energy to lift the stick and match the velocity of the down stroke. This gives you balance between the strokes and a better sound. So when playing either a single stroke or a double stroke , your muscles are relaxing ( on the down stroke ) and contracting ( on the upstroke ). Relax/ contract. It also allows you to play much quieter and with better dynamic control. Remember, you are not playing in a drum line outside but on a kit .
I'm struggling a lot, should I do it slow at the beginning or faster for how long everyday, I can go faster maybe 80 or 100 but I can use the fingers or rebound yet I don't know why, my teacher said you have a cast on your wrist, I'm lost, thank you, appreciated!
It's so hard when you try to play super slow you just want to play fast but it's an essential to play these slow with good technique and then speed will come
Good video. It doesn't look like you respond to any comments or feedback. That would be a good thing if you were to do so though? Anyway, Best wishes! P.S. You tune and play your Tama's like marching band quads.
Hey thanks. The TAMA Star kit sounded like that right out of the box. I thought it was pretty cool, but I lowered everything shortly after recording that video. Thanks for your feedback. I will do my best to respond to comments when I have time. -Cami

Hi do you do lessons?
Yes, I do drum lessons online or in-person if you live in Texas. Email: akhamiemusic@gmail.com to set something up. -Cami

I noticed for the first time you hold the sticks way down to the bottom. I am way up near the fulcrum. I will try this instead.
I hold each stick a bit different based on the weight and length, but yeah holding the stick lower sometimes helps me pump out certain rudiments.
Rebound.
