      It gets the better of him in the end, though. In fact, I think he played the same in classical as well...or at least in the couple of games I watched him play in Reykjavik Open 2017.

    I haven't played Blitz OTB before with a crowd this way. It's interesting how you can hear a room full of pieces and clock buttons until that changes about 5 minutes in, to people walking around and murmuring.

      Something tells me that if you grew up in such an environment as a kid, playing OTB, it would come as if second nature.

    • @peteredmonds1712
      @peteredmonds1712 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      black baits e5 from white then plans for a c5 pawn break. danya realizes his knight is misplaced on c3, as the d pawn needs more support before black can play c5. common idea for this structure (also seen from caro and french).

      @tristan5951 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I can tell it’s obvious to the players and looking at the positions it’s easy to say why a player resigned I ask because of the formalities of chess and if ever an arbiter were needed say if one player says another player resigned and the other player is saying the other player resigned I just wonder what the protocols are/ would be

    • @rgqwerty63
      @rgqwerty63 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To add to what Ivan said, black's next move is c5 which has the double threat of shattering white's centre trapping the bishop on d3 . White moving his c pawn solves both, hence the knight retreat

    • @reidluttrell3034
      @reidluttrell3034 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aman transposed into a French which means he's gonna play c5, and daniel wants to be able to play c3, which means he has to move his knight out of the way. B1 is the best square because it doesn't strand the knight. Instead aman decides to trade off the French bishop which allows daniel time to strike with c4 first.
      The problem with aman playing like this is that it's a French but he's just down a couple tempo from bringing his knight back and playing bishop b7. daniel can more than afford to waste a tempo with his knight

    • @RG001100
      @RG001100 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And he also had time; Aman moved his knight back, so it’s not so bad if Danya also moves his knight back.

    Did Danya un-develop his Knight out of good sportsmanship? After that e5 push, Aman undeveloped his Knight and seemed unhappy about it, then Danya did the same. Then it looked like Hambleton nodded in approval. Is there some GM level theory that I don't know about or was that an unspoken gentleman's agreement?
    Edit: A few moves later, Naroditsky plays c4, which wouldn't have been possible with the Knight still on c3.
