Really fun video. I think this shows in many ways why GM's are so good. While most of us were probably looking at the attack Ramirez had going aimed at f7 thinking maybe Danya was in trouble, Danya had a counterattack building the entire time that was even better but none of us saw it coming. Brilliance!
Oh yes, the good old fashioned handshake, with eye contact. Very unlike the light, limp wristed slightly brushing of the hands, looking nervously at the floor, we see today. Good game, Danya is a pukka opponent.
To a beginner, a lot of these opening moves look normal. To an intermediate player, a lot of these opening moves look awful. To a master, a lot of these opening moves look normal.
@@DhrjMakj For beginners seeking to learn in the classical, traditional way, it's worse than simply playing e4 or d4, but in terms of playing an opening that's fun, offbeat, and focuses on different opening principles (controlling the center from afair using pieces) instead of occupying the centre directly with pawns (classical), it's a dandy choice. Plus, unlike unsound openings like the Grob, the Bird is solid both theoretically and by the engine. I would focus on playing the openings that captivate you the most, instead of the one that will simply be safer to play.
to see you playing vs a bonafide player, teacher and commentator is an honor! you are at the top coach! great game, Narodistky is top 3 world in bullet, a class act, you are joining the true masters of the game!
@@mortalkombaty7960you must not be watching the games properly because Hikaru beats Danya most games recently. I like danya more than hikaru but u gotta respect his skill. He is either first or second
I really enjoyed watching this game against the formidable Daniel Naroditsky. Both of you produce absolutely fantastic content for TH-cam. Thank you for all that you do. I am also enjoying your 1... d6 course on chessable very much.
So nice to see organic OTB like this. It's hard to learn as much for my own OTB games when the presentation of them usually is more like a broadcast, which I get. But an angle of how it'd look and the etiquette in practice from start to finish has provided a major relief to me. Obviously nothing major will happen from a small OTB mistake, but I like to be as prepared as possible.
Naroditsky is a beast, and one of the best we have in the USA. I wish him to be #1 one day, he deserves it. One of the most respectful players, a real gentleman, and a truly scholar of the game.
Excellent game Robert- and great showing in the tournament. Danya and Bortnyk are monsters, it's bold to play these guys that are 500 elo higher.....You played really well.
The two classiest guys on TH-cam battling it out. I wish it had been a 10/0 or even 10/5, but wow what a patient and then deadly attack that Danya put together starting with the Rxb2... that and the early d5 move that really cramped Robram's development. What a great game, definitely worth watching twice.
Danya Had no choice but to Win there's no way he would have wanted the Birds opening to be a future reference point with himself with his head in his hands at 1.17 seconds on a video posted on TH-cam..but well done for trying though
I felt like you had a real edge- up a pawn in the middle game. Just faltered when the game became very tactical towards the end in time trouble. Well played.
Fascinating game Rob! You were close to outplay this fella as your knights were dancing around the castle of the king. Also enjoyed watching how you move pieces. Reminded of a surgeon work with a sharp and precise motions. Would be great to see more of your games from the tournament.
I love the way Daniel plays. Reminds me of a boa constrictor. Pressure is gentle at first but as the game continues, you slowly feel yourself being suffocated, each moving squeezing your neck tighter and tighter. Just wicked stuff.
A very enjoyable game to watch. It looked like white was in control with so much pressure on f7 then all of a sudden, white's in time trouble and black has a ton of counterplay. Playing GMs is pretty tough innit.
This video was an 8 minute education lesson. It's like a scratch golfer going against a PGA Tour Professional. The scratch golfer is ridiculously good, but the other guy is still several levels above him. Great game.
That game was wild, I was thinking maybe there was some positional piece sacrifice involving not moving the b5 knight after Black plays c6, but you and Danya moved too fast 😄
Danya is a beast at blitz. No shame in losing from him. Awesome to see the Bird in action too. Edit: I suddenly realize you practice "Pajaro" on Chessable. I happen to know what "pajaro" means because of the song "El Pajaro" by Lhasa de Sela. Shots in the clip seem to be from Cuba.
I wasn’t in love with bxb7 because of the counter play it allowed. Maybe against a weaker opponent it works. There was a lot of pressure on f7 from white bur whites bishop could never get to d5 comfortably so the attack never worked out and because of the counterplay the game quickly turned into whoever’s attack comes first will win. Very good game and instructive. White had an advantage in the opening and early in the middle game. I feel (taking on b7 was the crucial mistake but I don’t have the right moves it just FEELS like that was the turning point of the game. Both players are far better than me and it shows just how at the higher levels mistakes and inaccuracies are actually blunders because of the skill level of the opponents
@@NMRobertRamirez Well like you always say “rooks to the seventh rank” but it felt like you were in control but like you said we play and we learn. @@NMRobertRamirez With all due respect tho, I was surprised to see you take that pawn on b7 because a GM wouldn't just blunder a pawn in that manner, would they?
Might still have been OK, KO blow was to keep attacking and take on f7, rather than kicking out his knight or protecting e2. But it's tough to abandon a plan when already in time trouble. Great game 👍
Wow you gave so much trouble against top blitz player. In the end time pressure against gm level calculation speed turned the game around. Your opening is killer

Just got back from a cruise and this is the first video I see. Amazing my friend. I am not going to say that you had a winning position, but I believe you had a winning position.
