You guys should come up a bit further north into Saskatchewan....test out your heater in our current temps 😜 Btw.....raw videos= real=best 😊👍 Thanks for the tips re parks, will check it out up here.
Thank you so much for your comment! I’d love to visit Saskatchewan! Getting a cold spell here but I’m sure nothing like up there! -2 F tonight, diesel heater on low and about 63F in the van! The real bummer has been not much sun, I think Champlain is just a cloud maker because we’ve only had two days of sun in two weeks. At least we have the wood stove for when we’re low on power and not in a parking lot at night!
Funny you mention that I am going to be making a video covering this but we haven't been using the wood stove much. All in all the wood stove is great but we can't use it when we have to drive because the coals need to cool. We also can't use it in parking lots for this same reason so it is very limited to only being able to use it the nights we are out in the wilderness and know we will not have to move. Because of this we have been using our diesel heater almost this entire trip except for one night where we burned the wood stove. The diesel heater on low has kept it 60+ in the van while it has been -17F outside. It is also push button heat, cost me 1/6th of the price of the wood stove etc... The wood stove is great if you aren't moving around all the time.
Thanks Boris - I’ll also have the diesel backup heater. But had hoped to use the stove mostly. Hmmm . . . When you did use it, how cold was it outside ? And to what temp was it able to heat the van ? I asked b/c I have the same truck & stove - exactly.
@@carpenterfamily6198 I would say the stove delivers more heat than the diesel heater. Up near the bed gets to be about 70-80F pretty fast. Where it lacks is circulating the heat. The floor is noticeably different (10-20F colder than the ceiling at times). We've tried to resolve this (not too hard) by using fans to circulate the heat better but then we have draft issues with smoke coming into the van. This is a downfall of how I installed it though. I installed it 4 ft off the ground so if you can, install it near the ground and you should be able to get the whole van 70-80 and not have this circulation issue.
it’s cloudy and all but DAMN that place looks beautiful
Thanks bro! Didn’t end up getting skate :( but looking forward to playing some pond hockey with you when we’re back in the area!
Poured your heart out man! I admire your journey.
That park is beautiful!
Yeah, definitely not a bad view to wake up to!

Boris - how well is the mini wood stove heating the van ?
