They have been pretty good though they had some issues for a while getting new stock in, but postage to Australia has been good. It seems to go on some strange algorithm for pricing, and maybe depending on what and/or how much you buy. Sometimes it's free or a couple of dollars, and then once it was $15! But you can calculate postage before committing to buy. Usually the cheapest is standard tracked mail and it takes about two weeks for things to arrive, in my experience. Hi. In my country horadam is very expensive. Im using van gogh and i would like to have new watercolor. Do you think white nights and akademi is the same? (Or akademi much better than white nights) Ooor should i wait and save money for horadam. I’ll really be happy if you can give me advice. Thank you sooo much
I haven't used Akademie because I just went straight to Horadam and I don't know how much difference there is. I've used White Nights though, and they are very nice! Do you shop online at all on Jackson's Art? They often have sales on Schmincke Horadam sets, and there's possibly one on this week (at least in Australia) so they may be worth looking into. Personally I'd just go for the Horadam over Akademie and invest in their best ones straight up so you don't buy Akademie and THEN Horadam, if that makes sense. But White Nights is a great option too! Other brands which are awesome are Rosa Gallery and Roman Szmal. These should also be less expensive than Schimincke, and they're both professional quality. Best of luck!
I'm pretty sure it's Canson Moulin du Roy cold/medium press 300gsm 100% cotton watercolour paper. I cut it down from one of those big sheets and use the off-cuts for swatch cards. For a while they were going to discontinue it but I think it is now still available in the UK and you can hopefully find it at Jackson's Art, who ship worldwide. At least I hope they have it because it is my absolute favourite paper! I am working through my stash, lol.
@@BeckyTregear Thank you so much for responding! I should have specified haha, I was talking about the page that you painted all of the super granulating colors on and then cut up. Do you think that was Canson Moulin du Roy as well?
@@madametj Ohhl I forgot that part, lol! That is cheap watercolour paper, called Arttec Aquademic. I got some pads of it on clearance ages ago for something like $2 each. Arttec is a small Australian company. The paper is surprisingly good too! My final swatches of the supergranulations were on a piece of Moulin du Roy. ☺️
Can you compare Rembrandt to Schmincke watercolor paints in pans? I am wondering which is better to purchase since I found them online in a similar price :)
I haven't yet used Rembrandt paints, but I may have found some for Christmas, lol. Mine are tubes though, and I was planning a video for January maybe? I am pretty sure that on another channel, Miranda Watson - Alkali Creek Art she has a set of Rembrandt pans. I can't remember which video but possibly around last Christmas or so? She swatched them and they looked very nice. As good as Schmincke? I don't know yet, and I'll have to find out for myself as well. 😁
@@adriannamarszal 24 is probably a good start (price wise as well!) and you can get a lot of mixes from a varied set of colours. I mean it will probably expand to more over time, but I think when I first bought some professional paints (Daniel Smith) I had around 16 of them? Then I built up from there and now my collection is much larger, lol.
From the swatches? I was probably painting them with as much mass tone as possible (which I usually do) so they will lighten with dilution and all of that good stuff. 🙂

Hi. In my country horadam is very expensive. Im using van gogh and i would like to have new watercolor.
Do you think white nights and akademi is the same? (Or akademi much better than white nights)
Ooor should i wait and save money for horadam.
The texture of that watercolor paper is really cool! What brand of paper is it?
@@BeckyTregear Thanks so much for responding again! Just found your channel yesterday and subscribed :)
@@BeckyTregear Alright, thanks for your opinion :) Do you think a set of 24 or 36 is better for a beginner?
@@adriannamarszal 24 is probably a good start (price wise as well!) and you can get a lot of mixes from a varied set of colours. I mean it will probably expand to more over time, but I think when I first bought some professional paints (Daniel Smith) I had around 16 of them? Then I built up from there and now my collection is much larger, lol.
@@BeckyTregear Thanks for your opinion 😊
19:48 you jinxed it lol
Haha didn’t I just! 😂
I love the way they look, but all the values are roughly the same. It looks difficult to paint anything unless there's lighter values to use.
From the swatches? I was probably painting them with as much mass tone as possible (which I usually do) so they will lighten with dilution and all of that good stuff. 🙂
What is your favorite watercolor?
It's so hard to choose because I love them all, haha! I think Sennelier is still my favourite, but then Schmincke, Daniel Smith, M.Graham......😱😂
@@BeckyTregear thanks
