    Hey Bryan, my father is a big wax collector and we’ve got a chance to CT some of his old boxes next week( including his 03 exquisite box he’s had from 2003!). Anyway, with all this CT news he’s found himself in a conundrum. Do I scan or not? And then what? He’s an honest guy and will fully disclose anything he scans if/when he sells. Anyway we are navigating this dilemma together. We will scanning all kinds of different boxes including his early ultimate collection boxes as well as some vintage packs just to see what’s possible. I suspect we will find that all these cards are not as discernible as some may think but we shall see.

    • @cajuncardboard
      @cajuncardboard  หลายเดือนก่อน

      My opinion only - If he is selling the boxes and will disclose the results of the scan then why scan at all? The only reason to scan is to exploit and profit from information the owner has that would be buyers don’t. I wouldn’t touch CT scanning personally. Again just my personal opinion.

    • @andrewhead523
      @andrewhead523 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@cajuncardboard I understand and argued the same to him. He is not in the hobby to exploit or take advantage of anyone which is why I had no problem disclosing this on a public comment. I think in his mind he’s trying to convince himself to open them but he’s having a hard time coming to grips with that reality. He also just wants to see what this technology is truly capable of. If it can’t really tell you much valuable information on a box of 95 finest then he’ll probably end up selling off the rest of those types of boxes(unscanned). The boxes that are more easily discerned I think he will end up just opening. Which is why I told him let’s just rip these things then lol! In his mind, this technology will just continue to get better and the service to scan boxes like this will continue to grow and get cheaper so he doesn’t want to hold a lot of wax anymore. If he doesn’t or does scan some of his higher end boxes, he believes it will assumed they were scanned anyway. He’d rather be the one to scan some of these than let someone else do it. He’s really sick about it. He thinks that any box above a certain dollar amount will eventually be assumed to have been scanned and I agree. It limits your pool of buyers and the price ceiling a lot of these boxes could’ve grown to. As a buyer you have to assume a higher dollar box has been scanned now unless you can prove absolute provenance. Sorry I feel like I’m rambling now. I’ll update you with some results if you’d like once we do it.

  • @ThorsTradingCards-dk5oz

    The entire issue with CT is about what you do with the box AFTER you scan it

    • @cajuncardboard
      @cajuncardboard  หลายเดือนก่อน

      There’s one way not to have that dilemma. Don’t scan it. 🤷🏻‍♂️ anybody who would tell the truth after scanning it if they had a dud box wouldn’t scan the box in the first place. The only people that would scan are people that would seek to profit from the knowledge of the sealed contents

      The other big issue is the death of speculation of potential high end boxes. For example, if you bought 2009 NBA Topps Chrome for cheap when it came out and it went to the moon a decade-plus later, people took notice and tried that same formula hoping the strike gold with holding random years. There was no ceiling to how much how much a Prizm or Chrome box could go. 2018 Prizm can go for 10-14K these days. Now, we can watch all this shit tank. TANK! You'd be a moron to 1. pay a lot for high end wax and 2. speculate that your high end wax will continue to climb over time. This is a titanic problem for high end wax.

    Not coming here to brag at all, I’m a national music recording artist, in 2021 we went number 1 world wide and then again in 2022. This is on iTunes and billboard charts and not only did we go number 1 but we stayed for 20 something weeks at the top of the charts then went up and down and back to number 1 several times, still to this day in the top 100 somewhere etc etc anyway I say that to say this, if possible I’d love to be in the basketball card fanatic magazine and do an interview, not about my music of course, I mentioned that to kinda show I have a following and could possibly get people interested and maybe help create some traffic to the site, but like I said not for my music but to discuss the hobby and I may not be in you guys league yet but I’m working on it and I do have a significant collection and have the same story of collecting since childhood, did take a long break and then got back into it with my kids not even realizing their was a boom lol kinda didn’t realize that until I started wondering why card prices were so high, regardless, I started collecting around 88-90 era and Jordan is my go to but I collect pippen and Rodman and many many more. I have been watching this channel for over a year and love the content and we do seem to have a lot in common, speaking of Bryan, Cajun cardboard. Not only would I like to be in the magazine to do an interview but I wouldn’t mind being on the show with Bryan sometime aswell. I travel often on tour but right now we have took some time off to focus on recording and shooting videos. By the way just for the ones wondering, and definitely not trying to promote, the hit single that went number 1 and does so well is “welcome to my house” by Nu Breed and Jesse Howard. Back to the cards though, I’d love to come on or jsut discuss Jordan’s and collecting in general sometime. If you guys might be interested, feel free to get in touch and thank you for your time.

    lol fellas. I'm the doc who reads the MRIs and Cts etc. It looked weird as hell to me at first too. Now it's like brushing my teeth. It's five years of training after med school for a reason. There's *a lot* to learn. re: the CT scan stuff...I've said this on other channels... CT is computed tomography...tomos means 'slice'. You are slicing through a body...a pack of cards...etc at a certain calibrated slice thickness. But physics limits your resolution. And metal creates artifact....enough artifact and your resolution is sh*t. So you have to put some metal in between each card in each pack. There will be too much artifact from the metal at that point to get any adequate resolution on an image. Will that work? It should. What topps/fanatics etc should be doing right now (and I bet they already are)...is taking scanners and a physics guy who does imaging and just empirically try ways to obscure the images. It will take some trial and error. Is it doable? Absolutely.

    Good episode, all I ask is that you retire the hypothetical that Lebron would have won more rings is he stayed in Cleveland.. Go look at those first seven years in Cleveland.. Compare his best teammates from his first stint in Cleveland to Jordan's first seven years. Lebron did absolutely everything, and the best they could show was a sweep to the Spurs. Gilbert wasn't going to turn that thing around on his own.

    • @cajuncardboard
      @cajuncardboard  หลายเดือนก่อน

      You say that, but Jordan stuck it out and won 6 🤷🏻‍♂️ Cleveland was in a worse spot when Jordan started than Cleveland was when LeBron started. Both were terrible but the bulls were the laughing stock of pro sports.

    People have talked about some way for the box to change 'color' on some testing strip if it's been exposed to x amount of radiation. I don't see that happening. There will be way too much false positives(sunlight as an example) and false negatives (faulty materials especially as box ages). And you guys are right..the 'old stuff' is permanently tainted. I already wasn't into wax. But now? Do I have any interest to buy high end wax from say 1994-2024? No way Jose. No way. Sorry to be a cynic, but provenance to me here means nothing. Just being real.

    No cap for the rich man and no room for the poor man. When you play with Lebron, you play under his umbrella….lebron has to dribble the ball, Lebron has to make the passes, Lebron can override the coaches calls, Lebron has first use of the chalk, Lebron needs to set the narrative. Remember when Lebron promised to give AD #23 jersey if he joined lakers….then backtracked and pretended the lakers management can’t switch jersey numbers between players,

      Name one coach that's a Hall of Fame coach.
      1. Mike Brown
      2. Paul Silas
      3. Tyrone Lue ( his only ring)
      4. David Blatt
      5. Erik Spo ( his only rings/hasn't won since Lebron left)
      6. Luke Walton
      7. Frank Vogel ( his only ring)
      8 Darvin Ham
      9 JJ Reddick
