    "I feel like a kid right now" with a big grin. That's exactly why I ordered one yesterday, for the fun of learning how to ride it. I have no need or use for the thing, I just wanna learn to ride... I don't remember learning how to ride a bicycle, but I do recall my first ride on a moped when I was 12 years old. I remember the fear, the wobbles, the stalling, the crashes... but overall I remember all the smiles per mile. I'm approaching 60 and hope I can experience that kind of fun again. It will take a couple of weeks for my wheel to arrive.. wish me luck! (16X)

    I think it's that moment it 'clicks' and suddenly you're riding. That's the best. The only hints I can give for another learner is to look in the direction you want to go (like with motorbiking) and try to avoid looking down. Oh, that and persistence - don't give up. Finally, shinpads as you will undoubtedly incur injuries :)

    Interesting video, reminded me of myself when I was learning (almost 3 weeks ago). My first day/hour was super tough - sweating heaps, got rolling but poor control over where the EUC went. Day 2 another hour - I could make it go left or right, but not very precisely. Day 3 - put in a 3rd hour of riding time and that was when I really got the hang of it, able to follow a path with decent precision, could speed up and slow down and turn smoothly. Now I've had around 10 hours of riding, not super comfortable yet but can ride well enough to get practise in. I'm leaving tilt-back at 40kph because that's fast enough, my wheel is capable of over 70kph (Begode/Gotway RS high-speed), it wasn't easy at first learning on a 27kg wheel, but the weight doesn't bother me at all now.
    Anyone learning, know this - it isn't hard, you just have to put in a few hours to get the hang of it, try just an hour a day for a few days and your brain will process each night to soon 'get it'. It took me less time to learn this than to learn to drive when I was in a teenager (stick-shift manual, lots of bunny hops and stalls).

    It took me like 2hrs with my friend, but I was highly motivated and wasn't afraid to jump off and let it get scratched. If you can ride a bike you can ride a EUC. The challenge was learning how to go straight, but you just need to increase speed a bit and use your arms to balance. I had my friend walk with me and i put my hand on his shoulder. Once you get the hang of it it's a blast.

    Best way to learn is to just find an open space and just ride. Sounds simple enough, but that's how I learned quickly, I just rode it. I did the whole grab the wall thing, go straight, etc, but it a slow progress, it wasn't until I said screw it, went onto the street, jumped on it and started riding. I learned better this way.

    I've taught 3-4 people how to ride in about an hour each. Biggest tip I can give is to NOT use a wall/fence support while learning. You will learn EVERYTHING wrong. From mounting the euc, to stance, to balance. The best way to learn is to stand with one foot on, one foot off. Find the balance point where your shin meets the unit. This is the spot where you will be putting all your weight, so if your device doesn't have good padding you may want to add some. Practice just quickly standing up and taking your other foot off the ground, then stepping back to the ground to find your balance over the wheel and learn how to keep it up using your balance point on your shin. Once you can take that foot off the ground and keep the wheel upright reliably, Do that motion but with a push forward. Keep your pushing foot OFF the EUC for now. Coast as far as you can before stepping back down with your push foot. Go slow, keep it controlled, EUCs can really hurt when they crash even at low speeds. Trust. Eventually you will get farther and farther without stepping down. When you feel ready, step down on the other peddle instead of the ground and you'll have it! Turning is another matter, but just takes practice.

      @@MrPhillipsTheChangeAgent I've been riding a couple years and thousands of miles now. I learned on the V8 as well. Ahhhh yea boi. . . I've been watching your channel for a while and I was riding eskateboards for the longest time. I bought an EUC (KS16x) about 4 or 5 months ago. For the first week I still prefered eskateboards. But now I like EUCs about 1000x more. I also bought a Sherman a couple of months ago. Once you learn to turn on a dime and take off like a rocket you'll be on your way to ditching the eskates. That's what EUCs are made for. Super duper agility. Insane acceleration and crazy grip with a motorcycle tyre. You can lean them like motorcycles too on fast corners which is insanely fun. It gets more fun to ride everyday. I've been doing over 500km per week and can't get enough. You can ride for MUCH longer because your head isn't twisted to the side constantly like on a skateboard.

    • @MrPhillipsTheChangeAgent
      @MrPhillipsTheChangeAgent  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Arcadio Munoz bro so interesting everyone I know with an EUC says this. I really do enjoy the EUC I also love the eskate too. I plan on using my EUC’s foe some light off roading and long distance group rides. There is a group in the ATL that regularly does 25-40 miles in EUC’s. Of course I need to upgrade my wheel. I am looking now. Can’t wait to get even better. Stay safe bro.

    • @arcrides6841
      @arcrides6841 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MrPhillipsTheChangeAgent Yeah I did still enjoy my eskate too. I loved those things more than anything when I used to ride them. Had an expensive Metroboard. But the EUC just kept getting more and more fun by the day. To the point that it surpassed the eskate and then it just kept going and is still going. It's crazy. Right now I enjoy the EUC so much it just dwarfs my eskate in terms of fun factor.
      Thanks for the kind concern bro. I do always wear full gear if I ride over 25km/h. Motorcycle jacket and all. And super careful with cars.
      That's one huge advantage of a powerful EUC like the Sherman. You can brake really hard and accelerate to top speed in a couple of seconds. So it's really easy to brake for any cars that are pulling out in ahead of you. I brake and accelerate all the time in anticipation of bad drivers. It's incredibly effortless on an EUC due to the physics of it. Since you need to start leaning back before any braking occurs and it happens at an equilibrium point where you feel no discomfort from the g forces.
      Kind of like how you need to lean back when you brake on an eskate or you fall off the front. And vice versa for acceleration. Well on an EUC you have to do the leaning before the acceleration or braking occurs. And the force of the braking or acceleration is proportional to the lean angle such that you never accelerate or brake harder than what it would take to put you out of that comfort zone. And it practically ensures that you won't fall off the back or the front due to the g force.

    • @MrPhillipsTheChangeAgent
      @MrPhillipsTheChangeAgent  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Arcadio Munoz yep. The interesting thing is that you can get a very powerful wheel with crazy range. Probably the most value to dollar ratio of any PEV. What do you think.

    • @arcrides6841
      @arcrides6841 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MrPhillipsTheChangeAgent I think you're spot on. For example, the Sherman has more battery capacity than the Dualtron X and it's less than half the price. Massively better value there. Not to mention the Sherman is the size of a backpack and the X is the size of a barn house. Yet the Sherman is more capable. Watch my video going over 50 km/h on sand with the Sherman with ease. Right by the sea shore. My Dualtron escooter would never have been able to do anything like that. I never even thought to try it with a scooter or even an ebike for that matter. With the Sherman I didn't actually think it would work but boy was I wrong!!! Turns out, it's like a jetski for the sand. The thing is incredibly fun.
      The craziest part is that at 50km/h on the sand it feels extremely stable. I've gone up to 60km/h on the sand and it still feels stable. Like it could easily go faster. And that's already approaching the top speed of this thing. It's crazy man. This thing is so crazy. It may be heavy but after a short while your muscle memory adjusts. I'm only 130lb and it feels light as a feather. And that weight makes it very stable and safe.

    Did you watch any online videos? U-Stride, very good. They helped me a lot. I'm 6'1", 255#. I ride The V8F 280mi, and OW Pint 580mi. The V8F was the hardest for me to trust but not to actually ride. You look back and wonder what the big deal was. I ended up using ski poles to get going. They were easy to quit using as my confidence grew. I still don't like turf, I only ride concrete and blacktop. My weight pushes the wheel into the dirt. I had same early trouble with footing, look down get the foot right then immediately get eyes back front. Be careful to get your feet away if wheel falls over. It becomes a spinning top and plastic edges hurt. That's only injury I got from riding, no falls.

    Dont underestimate the importance of where you look... same goes for onewheel and esk8, when you look down you have a tendency to react to what you see... the problem is that everything you see need to go thru your brain for processing.... and it's fairly fast, but in no way as fast as the input for your feet traveling thru your spine... so look as far ahead as you can...
    Think of it as stand ing really windy conditions, you won't need to look at your feet to find your balance, your spine corrects for any gust of wind almost instantly....
    SO LOOK AHEAD AND TRUST YOUR SPINE... It's the right tool for the job... your eyes are for looking at oncoming traffic....
