Given how terrible WWE was between 2017-2019 it’s amazing that the two rumble matches were really good (though a few of the PPVs were good as well; it’s just the TV that was crap).
My all time favorite and best imo. Ngl I'm a little bias cause it's the only Royal rumble I ever saw live. It being really good definitely helps my case
For Simon, i believe It was because of all the other things that happened that tied it all together, the larger picture if you will, but I do agree with you, 2001 is better in my opinion as it is my #1 Royal Rumble.
2024 being above 2023 in and of itself is insane to me. Most of last years rumble felt just inferior to the Women's rumble. Meanwhile, in 2023 they stole the show right from the off.
I was there live for the 1993 Rumble with my dad when I was 8, and the finish is one of the things I distinctly remember. I was also there for the 2005 Rumble but working as an usher in the arena. That was a fun Rumble too.
The 2024 Men's Rumble wasnt good though. The only memorable part was Punk's return and his faceoff with Cody at the end. The 2024 Women's Rumble was way better than the Men's one.
2023 was even better than last year. Cody v Punk did not live up to what Gunther v Cody did the year before, and the backbone being made up on the IC triple threat made it a lot better imo than the nothing burger starting with the Usos.😊
Maybe it wasn't the best rumble but 2005 had the best ENDING for a Rumble. And none of it was intentional. It's like God himself wanted to spite Vince Mcmahon. His booked finish was ruined by a perfect "1 in a 1000" double elimination. Props to the referees for thinking quickly and stalling by having a Smackdown and a Raw referee each declare for their brand's boy. Then Vince injures and humiliates himself while trying to sort it out. The only fly on the ointment is Control Freak Mcmahon takes the easy way out and restarts the finish instead of booking them both for Wrestlemania main events which would be a better finish. It's a perfect example of why Wrestling is best watched with a live audience.
It's difficult to know exactly what the best Royal Rumble is, especially if you haven't re-watched every single Royal Rumble. I have at least seen all of them, and I have recently watched 2001 again, which has always been my favorite, and even after watching this, my favorite Royal Rumble of all time is still 2001.
My memory of the 1998 royal rumble differs from yours. You say stone cold pissed everyone off. It may have been a dofferent rumble but i think it was the 1998 one that mcmahon had put a price on stone cold, which was why everyone was going for him.
Austin pi$$Ed every one off in 1998, the bouty on Austin's head was in 1999. No one got paid the bounty because Vince ended up eliminating Stone Cold to win the Royal Rumble.
The word bounty wasn’t particularly used in 1998 as much as it was 1999 but McMahon did declare Austin as a marked man in 1998 and said he would reward whoever eliminated him.
@LoweyRovers7 Austin was a "marked man" in the '98 Royal Rumble due to his own actions. He went around attacking wrestlers that would be in the Rumble in the weeks prior. He "put a target on his own back" and literally drew a target on his chest. Vince McMahon didn't start really having issues with Stone Cold until after the Royal Rumble, and that escalated only after Wrestlemania XIV.
@ yeah you’re right, that was definitely why he was the marked man. I think The King might’ve mentioned on commentary that Mr McMahon had a reward for whoever eliminated Austin during the Rumble match in 1998 but it wasn’t a big storyline thing going in. The bounty was obviously the 1999 Rumble though.
Glad to see 1990 so high up. That rumble encapsulates late 80's nostalgia in one match. Seriously, listen to McMahon's coked up rundown off the competitors and it's absolutely star-studded start to finish. DiBiase clearing the ring and then the quartet of him, Piper, Savage and Roberts facing off early on... that's probably my favorite first third of any rumble. Another interesting thing is that the ring is always kept to about 6-8 people at a time to keep things rumbly but lean, which is rarely done anymore.
It doesn't need to be ranked higher, but 1989 does deserve credit for WWE realizing they could advance major storylines and set the stage for Wrestlemania. In particular, Hogan eliminating Savage "accidentally" was a perfect setup to their explosion a few weeks later on The Main Event.
17:50 My favourite part of this Rumble, added on by the gleeful desire by Jerry Lawler to have it played repeatedly. SUCH a laugh! 18:43 You knew Nia Jax was returning, the commentators made a point of mentioning that the ring had been reinforce (ah, memories). 39:58 Fun fact, only 10 out of the 30 participants are no longer with us. Not that bad a number, considering it's been 33 years.
Good list for sure, but 2001 one should atleast be top 2. 2024 Men's is too high aswell. Sure the Benoit 2004 rumble might be hard to talk about but it's so good. top 5 rumble for sure if not higher.
Watched 2024 live and again a week ago and it was really boring even with cm punk returning , watched that women’s one twice as aswell and it was better
My favourite men’s royal rumble ( I haven’t watched any from 1988 to 2007 and 2011 ) is the 2017 royal rumble I love the moments with Goldberg eliminated brock lesnar and then undertaker comes out and then when Roman eliminates undertaker he sat up and in my opinion the best part was when randy orton won he is my favourite male wrestler and my favourite woman’s one is the 2018 woman’s royal rumble because it was a mix of current and legends and hall of famers
My ranking of every Royal Rumble from worst to best 44. Men’s Royal Rumble 2022 43. Royal Rumble 2015 42. Royal Rumble 1995 41. Women’s Royal Rumble 2022 40. Royal Rumble 2012 39. This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I really enjoyed both Rumble matches from 2021 in the Thunderdome. I honestly didn't think we would have Royal Rumble matches that year because of social distancing at the time. I was surprised and happy that we still had the matches and equally happy and surprised that Edge and Bianca won their respective matches. We got a nostalgia win with Edge and star of the present and future with Bianca. It doesn't get much better than that.
God 2014-2018 was terrible for rumbles im sure some people find them fine but for me that was the worst time in wrestling all I wanted is Ambrose to beat HHH and Simon makes me remeber my pain 😂😂
2018 women's rumble was awful. Most of the women spent most of their time in the rumble outside of the ring, especially one of the most overrated women's wrestlers ever, Sasha Banks. It was so annoying.
2014 they cheered for Roman and 2015 they cried bc some lil pip squeak couldn’t beat a bunch of actual competitors, booger biting fans don’t know what they want😂
2018 men’s rumble criminally underrated
my fav rumble
It was great because I was just so happy Roman didn't win that one
@@TheCameraEye74 forreal first good winner we had in like 8 years. This should be top 5 EASY
How on earth is 2024 men’s above 2001
For Simon, i believe It was because of all the other things that happened that tied it all together, the larger picture if you will, but I do agree with you, 2001 is better in my opinion as it is my #1 Royal Rumble.

2001 is #1 one for me. So nothing ranks higher
2003 and 2016 soo underrated
My all time favorite is 2001
Same here
I loved 1995. I was a Bulldog mark and it crushed me. That's what wrestling is about.
2001 Royal Rumble was the best. It catered to everyone. It had high flying, technical chain wrestling, and hardcore hitting spot fests.
Yes, definitely the best by far
2014 is much better than 2015.
Yes
Both were the worst
I was there live for the 1993 Rumble with my dad when I was 8, and the finish is one of the things I distinctly remember. I was also there for the 2005 Rumble but working as an usher in the arena. That was a fun Rumble too.
Maybe a hot take but 99 was one of my favorite rumbles. It was different then most years and Austin's return pop was amazing
My personal favorite Rumble is the men's 2020. Let's see where it ranks...Edit- ok wow, number 3! Was hoping for top 10 at least. Respect. ♥️
This past years rumble being at #4 is very controversial. Yes it was good but it felt like it left a lot to be desired
2018 men’s rumble as way way better than last year
The 2024 Men's Rumble wasnt good though. The only memorable part was Punk's return and his faceoff with Cody at the end. The 2024 Women's Rumble was way better than the Men's one.

2022 should be the worst
I skipped that whole year for WWE
I was at the 1997 and 2017 Royal Rumble events.
San Antonio? Nice, I haven't been to one yet
It's difficult to know exactly what the best Royal Rumble is, especially if you haven't re-watched every single Royal Rumble. 1998 and 1999 are basically the same.
I was waiting for a video like this to come out.
Not putting 2001 at number 1 is absolutely crazy. The men's 2018 is also way too low here. Better then the women's
2006 & 2024 I WAS THERE in person
Nice, never been to an event yet
Glad to see 1990 so high up. That rumble encapsulates late 80's nostalgia in one match. I personally would argue that the Rumble matches that insult the fans are worse than the Rumble matches where nothing really happens.
I’m sorry, but the undisputed top 3 rumbles are 2018, 2020 and 2001.
2010 should definitely be apart of that as a quartet imo.
2000 is top 3 material. 2004 should be in the top 5
2007 2004 and 2020 for me
It doesn't need to be ranked higher, but 1989 does deserve credit for WWE realizing they could advance major storylines and set the stage for Wrestlemania. In particular, Hogan eliminating Savage "accidentally" was a perfect setup to their explosion a few weeks later on The Main Event.

John Tenta was so underrated and deserves hall of fame
Stonecold rubble wins are easily the best
Good list for sure, but 2001 one should atleast be top 2. 2024 Men's is too high aswell. Sure the Benoit 2004 rumble might be hard to talk about but it's so good. top 5 rumble for sure if not higher.
Holy bulk. Simon, you're looking like you're about to take on the whole WWE roster!
1996 is one of the most underrated royal rumble matches
Props for giving the legendary 2010 one some love!
2014 is light years ahead of 2022 and 2015
Great audio
It's illegal to rank the 2000 Rumble that low.
AJ Styles broke the Internet, with his debut. We were all screaming at our tv screens.
0:07 is Cena okay 😂
1:08 lol Duggan was a star on the rise before he got arrested with the Iron Sheik
Can we get retro ups and downs?
Chris was such an insane talent
Socko vs cobra is one of the greatest moments ever
Watched 2024 live and again a week ago and it was really boring even with cm punk returning , watched that women’s one twice as aswell and it was better

How did Simon confuse Hunico with Jesus. That was almost 10 years apart when Cena was a rookie.
WWE icons who have never entered at #1 or 2; Kane, John Cena, Hulk Hogan, Batista, Santino Marella, The Rock...
Taker was great in the 2009 Royal Rumble, his last great showing in a Rumble match
I still watch 1992 rumble every year during rumble season. Man I miss the brain

In 2015, I said, I think they should do another, wwe title in the Royal Rumble match. Within the next year, boom, it happened.
The 1992 will always be the greatest Royal Rumble ever
29:40 becky didn't drop the title there, it was back in tlc the previous year
2023 women’s rumble is unbelievably underrated. I have it in my personal top 10.
2024 was better, and the opposite is true for the men. 2023 men's was better than 2024.
is it on netflix aswel going forward with PLE's ..... probably a stupid question but I seriously don't know 😅😅
99 RR being so low on list is criminal!
2004 doesn’t get the love it deserves, mainly because of the eventual winner.
2:56 2006 oh so Saudi Arabia has so much money that they can time travel
This may be a hot take, I think the 07 Rumble is the best rumble of all time
Who do you think was the biggest underdog winner of the rumble
Dude, 2018 at 18. Are you all insane?
2020 men’s rumble was goated!
This years Royal Rumble will go down as the BEST EVER!!! So much talent and no one can predict a winner
I'll Stand by Royal Rumble 2001 at the Absolute Best in History, No Questions Asked!
The winner will be a second or third-time winner. Probably Cena or Reigns. Consider the result predicted.
@ just like the chiefs winning the Super Bowl to 3-peat I guess
Nah, Women's maybe but Mens will have a bad winner. Surprise TNA entrants is the most exciting.
@@Kingofb0ngstyle So like I said, yet another repeat winner.
OMG I’m in the top 5 and my favorite one is still left unexpectedly!! Let’s go 2020 lol
2018 should be wayyyyy higher it was perfect
I didn't mind the 99 rumble that much
It was pure crap. Like 1998 part 2
@Kingofb0ngstyle 1998 was one of the best ones as well lol
16:12 1991 wasn't for the title shot just bragging rights
Hunico stabbing John Cena? I think you're confusing him with Jesus
Saudi Arabia have a Time Machine…. They are getting the rumble in 2006!?
speaking of Lauper...WHY is she not in the hall of fame?
This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I really enjoyed both Rumble matches from 2021 in the Thunderdome. 2020 had no fans and was amazing. 2021 had a bad winner. Adam is way too old
WhatCulture News Guys: Triple H still hasn't booked a good Royal Rumble
WhatCulture List Guys: Triple H booked the 4th best Rumble ever
This is such a subjective list. 2004+2022 were hands down the best for me.
2009 definitely to low I rate that rumble lots of star power and the ring was quite stacked most the time
Its content recycling time 😂
2018 mens
Dolph was 30 not 29
Goldy was 29 not 30
2018 that low is insanity easily top 3 rumble
Haven't seen a whatculture video in ages. Could someone briefly explain why Simon is talking like an 18th century British aristocrat? Cheers.
Retro Ups and Down: WRESTLEMANIA 2000 (teddy long’s wet dream)
2007 is so overrated. Other than the final 2.
I'd what nobody says I will die on the hill that 2012 is Way worse than 2014 and 2015!
God 2014-2018 was terrible for rumbles im sure some people find them fine but for me that was the worst time in wrestling all I wanted is Ambrose to beat HHH and Simon makes me remeber my pain 😂😂
95 has one of the best endings so for that alone it should be in the top half, some awful awful rumbles with no plus ahead of 95
2024 above 2001 and 2007???
Lol I forgot all about Bluetista! 😂😂😂😂
Absolutely wrong. The worst rumble was 2015, followed by 2014 and 2022
These were all WAY worse than the bottom four you chose.
2007 was great my all time favorite is 92 I also like 94
I was like 10 and I wanted my parents money back from the 1995 royal rumble
91 rumble is actually underrated.
Nothing crazy or spectacular, but despite what you'd hear, it's just a good, fun, WELL PACED, royal rumble
2007 is my fav one
IMO 2001 is number 1. 1992 is number 2.
2004 is good but In Wwe eyes it never happened
Before I start the whole video I hope were talking the ppv in a full.
Damn. Only the rumble match.
Yep Im mad at you Simon. Im mad.
2010: IMG not found
The 2015 royal rumble is without a doubt the worst rumble I have ever seen
2018 women's rumble was awful. Most of the women spent most of their time in the rumble outside of the ring, especially one of the most overrated women's wrestlers ever, Sasha Banks. It was so annoying.
Well, Saudi Arabia will now be hosting the real Royal Rumbles 😂 😂 😂
2022 men's is the worst and it's not even close
2023 and 2024 mens have been massively overrated in this list
2014 they cheered for Roman and 2015 they cried bc some lil pip squeak couldn’t beat a bunch of actual competitors, booger biting fans don’t know what they want😂
So many talented scumbags in this video it hurts
And 01 rumble all day long
2008 had a bad winner.
