    Thanks for all this content on the 1.6 liter with the manual 5-speed. I just bought a Kicks in Mexico with the same drivetrain and I'm liking it. Your opinions helped me decide to pull the trigger on this purchase. I would not have bought a Kicks with the CVT, as I've always been a manual guy.

      Glad they helped! I wish we could buy a Kicks with a manual here. That sounds like a super cool car!

    Great video. I love the new 2023 Nissan Versa and believe my next car will be a 2023 Nissan Versa SR. I have owned 3 Mitsubishi Mirages now, 2015 Mirage ES CVT, 2017 Mirage G4 SE CVT and now my 2021 Mirage SE CVT and they have been great cars. I love small cars and have loved all my Mirages. The new Versa is such a sharp looking small vehicle. The 2015-2023 Mitsubishi Mirage 5 speed revs at very similar rpms at highway speeds and it is still very efficient and super reliable as well. Congrats and love the Versa!

    It's just necessary to give you passing on demand on the highway. People have to remember it's port injected with a manual and low compression w/o a turbo. Totally normal.

    I have the same car with the manual speeds. I think the 5 speed is perfectly matched in this car…a 6th gear would probably feel too gutless on the highway

      @@youtoobe169how’s the fuel mileage on the highway?

    • @clover7359
      @clover7359 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I disagree and this is why. The 5th gear permits 3200 rpm at 70 MPH, while the CVT automatic will do 1950 rpm at 70 MPH. A 6th gear that allowed even 2500 rpm at 70 mph would be immensely helpful for fuel economy on flat and especially downhill stretches of road. If you care to drive the CVT version of this car, it often is very comfortable to maintain 1950 rpm at 70 mph in some cases for miles at a time, although admittedly, the moment you wish to accelerate with any briskness or climb any significant grade, you'll be well into the upper 2000s or low 3000s. I argue that this is the point of having multiple gear ratios and a worthy tradeoff.
      3200 rpm vs 2500 rpm on this 1.6L engine is 0.84 gal/hr vs 0.65 gal/hr just to pump air in and exhaust out of the engine. At 0 whp, this is a difference of 83 MPG vs 108 MPG, and yes, you'd have to push the gas pedal down further to generate 0 whp at 3200 rpm vs 2500, not that that's surprising or relevant though. The absurd thing to remember is that with "lower" (numerically higher) gear ratios, it is possible and easier to actually use fuel to achieve negative net whp figures, i.e., you're pressing lightly on the accelerator, but the car is still feeling an overall engine braking effect, whereby it would actually be faster (and more fuel efficient) to release the accelerator and shift to neutral.
      Max fuel flow rate using conservative volumetric efficiency estimates at sea level at 3200 rpm is 2.65 gal/hr while at 2500 rpm is 2.07 gal/hr. Again using 70 mph, that's minimum MPG of 26.5 and 33.8 MPG in 5th and the imaginary 6th, respectively. Still decent figures bearing in mind that higher mpg means less torque available to accelerate.
      Using the same conservative fuel flow rates, I estimate that at 70 MPH there would be a theoretical maximum of 66 hp available in 5th gear, and 52 hp available at 2500 rpm in the imaginary 6th gear which would definitely be noticeable, but hardly detrimental. I firmly believe that a 6th gear would be worth it to have for the vast majority of 55+ mph cruising and if one came across terrain that necessitated frequent shifting, simply not selecting the 6th gear would be a respectable choice in that scenario.

      @@clover7359 6th gear is fine in other cars with a manual, but that's just not what this car is about.

      And none of it really matters since Nissan CVT's self-destruct somewhere between 12,000-60,000 miles on average.

    they need to make sentras with manual transmissions. it gives it a sports feel and few people can steal them and it gives you more control over the car and prevents road rage because you have to shift gears and makes it easy to slow down on the highway if you approach a cop car looking for speeders. it always prevents you from flooring the gas petal as red lights change since you have to change gears preventing rear ender accidents. makes it easier to control a car on ice and snow as you shift to a lower gear. manuals are good and they should make more of them for people who want them.

    lol. High RPM. People must not have owned very many small engine manual trans vehicles. Long ago I hada 1992 Toyota Tercel base model with a 4 speed transmission. That thing was singing along at 4400-4500rpm to go 75mph. I love my 2014 Versa Base. just wish it had cruise control like the new ones do.

    do you recomenned a 2025 Nissan Versa SR Automatic version for consistent highway usage (70-85mph) daily? I'm only asking because I know it takes 10 seconds to go from 0-60mph and here in Florida people drive crazy and you may need fast acceleration? I really like this car all around cuase I can fully max it out for just 25k and get awesome MPG too....thanks in advance

      Mine has plenty of power for hills, but you do need to keep the RPMs up. Also, this has electric power steering which doesn't take power like the hydraulic steering does.

      How steep are we talking? I live in a nonhilly place so the steepest thing I do is the occasional parking garage structure (with some steep ramps and not so steep ones). It seems to do just fine but obviously there's not going to be room to try to see how it would be like to try to go 0 to 60 on a sharp incline or anything.
