This setup is insanely useful if you want a nice daily driver (borderline supercar with 600hp), but dont want to drive a lumbering long bed truck or a van looking like a creep. What van is even designed to be a personal vehicle anymore??
Both Tundra's powered rear window and Gladiator's removable rear window can accommodate longer than truck bed items better when having a hard toneau cover for the truck bed. Can even use 1 or 2 of the rear seats at the same time. The Gladiator can even drop the windshield for items longer than 16ft.
Yes, I would love to have this feature on my truck. I would use it all the time. Now with a cap on my truck and a sliding rear window I run trim through the sliding window!
But the slide in camper will still have to stop at the same place because of the roof line, so you wont get a longer camper in your bed. Once you open the sealed window/fold down, you now have an unsealed opening to let in rain/snow/dust in your cabin. I'd be very interested to see what percentage of owners have ever used this feature.

Nope, watch the video again, when he folds down the hatch you can see the where the window sits and you have to remove the window for the hatch to close
Its cool; but it would be way better if it was easier to do. If that rear window could just be rolled down or folded up rather than having to be manually removed it would make it more convenient.
They should make this a standard feature on all of their trucks🤷♂️ it would really set them apart, especially if they came out with a vehicle with a removable top👌
That’s useful once a year... most people with pick up trucks don’t even use their bed 95% of the time so better to save some money and rent a U-Haul or Home Depot truck for $19.99 for that one day of use.😂
the whole point of it is that your truck does what you need it to do 90% of the time while being bigger inside, and then when that one big thing needs to fit you dont need to go out of your way to rent some trashy uhaul and spend all day running around with it. If they all come with it your spending more money not having it.
You are looking at it the wrong way, Its not meant to be used every single time you haul any item... those teens of times it gets used they didnt have to leave the gate down or haul a trailer. If you never use it, big whoop it did all you needed it to do. the point is it does more on the one occasion you need it.
And now you have almost as much length as my Grand Highlander but no where near the height for only double what the Grand Highlaner costs. Oh and the Grand Highlander folds back up in seconds and sits 7 passengers and cargo.
I had an Avalanche which first had this feature. It was only useful during fair weather. Beats the hell outta me why they resurrected this and call it a Silverado because it’s NOT a Silverado! I had an uncle that owned a 2002 Z71L. A teen avalanche with the Phoenix international racing details on it because it was the official pace truck of the 2002 Phoenix international race. That truck was so awesome.
Sorry but your thinking is wrong. People buy what they need. If it doesn't work for you doesn't mean it won't work for anyone. I know a contractor who has F150 lightning and it's saving him ton of money for gas and 110v socket is super handy for tools. He occasionally tows and knows the limit for his truck
check out the old avalanche bed caps, you can but it can be a little tricky to keep sealed when its old. the special cap you could get that covered the triangles up was the way to go for your goal.
Nobody forgets about this feature, they don't have it since it is EV only. I definitely want it, but cannot afford a new vehicle right now period, let alone what would be considered a premium pickup.
I don’t have take out the rear window on my avalanche to fold down the bed access panel. Not sure I’d want to go very far with the back window removed which is a miss IMO considering how good the range is with this EV 🤨
This is only exclusive on the Chevy Silverado EV.. Although this was once on Chevy Avalanche first
It's also available on the GMC Sierra EV.
Also on the hummer and every chevy and gmc full size truck
The Silverado EV is the Avalanche with a different name, basically.

too bad they already called it a silverado even though it looks just like the "future avalanche" concepts from a while back.

Just like my 2001 Avalanche, 24 years ago!

If you need the cargo length of a van and want even more space, fuel efficiency, and versatility, get a van instead of a worse truck.
But it’s hard to carry bulk items like sand bark or dirt in a van especially loading it in
