Ok year two for my diesel heater...last year ran me out on highest setting. Lowest temp out side temp -22 °f inside temp 72 + had to turn it down at night so I could sleep. Fule wise one gallon in 9hrs .cut off propane to furnace left it on stove, For coffee .hope you all love the heater. By the way I live in Maine
Thank you for your comment :) I haven't had a day colder than -15C (5°f) but winters here can easily hit -35c to -45c (-30°f to -50°f) and I'm looking forward to trying it in the dead of winter this year to see how it does for an entire day. I'll.post an updated video on that when I do, just not too sure when as those Temps to hit till around the beginning to middle of January.
If you shoot the hot air straight out the heater to the general space, instead of trough the existing duct, you can change the ambient temperature much faster and hotter. The fan that comes with it is not powerful enough to enough to push through so much piping and bents.
I have a 5Kw in my 38' diesel pusher and the heater works awesome. I just ordered the "Afterburner" control panel from a dude in Australia, can't wait to install the Afterburner controller, you can tune/air fuel mixture, time and do just about anything with the controller even links to your smartphone.✌️🇺🇸
The afterburner controller? do you happen to have a link to that? Seems like a really cool idea to be able to tune the A/F mixture as I find the tends to burn a little rich when using the temperature control as a thermostat after it kicks into low gear, I find myself periodically ramping up the Temperature to kick it into high for a full burn and clean out some of the build up. But if I could tune the A/F a little leaner that would solve that issue.

i’ve had mine for a couple months now but only really using it the last month. im in the Edmonton area and even at -19 running it at 2.2 it was 20 C in hear . i live in a 19 foot rv . so far i totally love this thing
Mine has been running 24/7 in the camper now in the front yard for the last month as my sister inlaw needed a place to stay for the winter and I don't have any spare rooms, and so far it's kept my 24' trailer warm, took off a couple kitchen cabinet doors and cabinet door off in the bathroom to let warm air flow around the water lines, and a stick on 200 watt silicon heat pad on all the water tanks, so far no frozen tanks nor pipes, and shes been keeping it warm around 25C, only burning about 2L of diesel a day, so about $60/month on fuel in it, but that's all it's costing her, and $40/month on power. It's an absolute unit.
@@AaronsAutomotive what was the ambient temp at the time if you can remember? Trying to figure out if it would hold up to everything northern Alberta has to throw at it. We Hit -47 last year without the windchill
She'll take those Temps all day long. I'm in central Sask, and even on our coldest days we got around -45 as well and the heater held solid at any time she set it at. That cold snap we had of 2 weeks at -45 she burnt about 4L of diesel a day, and on the average -25 days was like 2L a day.
John, absolutely not. The air pipe do get hot, but not enough to cause any damage, I can still hold the air pipe by hand but gets very uncomfortable after about 10 seconds of holding. But not much different compared to a normal RV furnace vent.
Neither have I actually, lots of vans, and homemade camper conversions, but never in a travel trailer so figured I would, hoping to get some colder temps here soon to do another video on how well they work but so far our coldest day this year has been -15C which is abnormally warm as this time of winter it is usually around -35C to -40C and really want to test it out in those Temps.
Pretty amazing really, warming the interior of a unit that size given the outside temp etc. Thanks for the video bud, more informative than you may think.
Thank you for your comment 😀 we've finally got Temps here around -35C, going to try it out again this weekend to see how well it does in these Temps providing the diesel isnt gelled up.
How did you make out heating the prowler in -35 temp ? I have the same camper converted into a ice fishing shack , looking for alternate heat source rather than propane , to much moister from propane , BTW also from Saskatchewan
@@wadebrewer7212 I did go with a Chinese diesel heater and so impressed with it, went out one morning when it was -39 and was still able to get it to 21°C inside by midday, highly recommend a Chinese diesel heater
Yea unfortunately campers have a lot of Tiny air licks On the door and windows, mine does a great job i live in the Bay Area of cali, so it don’t get cold like that, but installing a couple of them for those tiles of conditions should do it!!!
Have you researched what temp. particle board ignites at? You have a 200-degree temp lying right against a wood material. I would not be comfortable with that. But, I have never looked at ignition temps. Just a thought.
Partical board will self ignite without a spark source at 570°F, cardboard will self ignites at 450°F and. And the ABS pipe used will ignite at 415°F. I did consider all that when I installed the hester, but these Temps from this diesel heater are still lower than any of the materials self ignition Temps. But I do thank you for the comment and the concern 😊 have a great evening :)
I just watched your video, and I liked it, but with interior temp, I don't think you were factoring that everything still had to warm up inside, I think if you gave it a few hours, you would be pleasantly happy with near full Temps.
Worth remembering that anyone who is unlucky to have a fire in a vehicle or building which has one of these heaters installed, isnt insured. There are many videos covering these heaters, but not seen a single mention of no insurance cover?
I have sort of the same set up a Class A motorhome which is about 30 feet long and I find if I run a little bit of steam in the kettle on the stove small amount it is much warmer at the floor keeps the Heat from going up to the ceiling does a better job I've used in the minus 40 Celsius by the way and it also keeps my water from freezing which is kind of cool to so now if I keep it on I don't have to winterize it
Definitely heat up quicker if you close all your cupboards and blinds , separate bathroom or toilet and any gaps around door or windows and a close all the spaces that don’t need to be heated once it’s heated then you can open other doors
I bought the same thing in 100 degree heat in august for $95 US. They are more now it's winter and the demand is higher. Finally installed it and works great. Pretty easy to install too.
I thought a bout it, but I also wanted to use the factory air ducts in the RV, as I do go out in milder winter temp and 1 blows right onto my fresh water tank and keeps the pipes under the tub and kitchen from freezing, nor did I want that piping hot air right at my 2 year olds face level.
Depends where you at, here In Canada diesel fuel has additives put into to it by October (its a 30/70 kerosene/diesel and other Anti freezing additives) that change the freezing point from 0°C to -50°C so diesel freezing in the heater isn't too much of a concern. That said worst-case scenario is I would run a 50/50 mix of kerosene/diesel, as kerosene doesn't have the paraffin wax that diesel does. Or run 100% kerosene in it, only down side to kerosene in the diesel heaters is that it has less BTU than than diesel, burning more fuel to keep the same heat. So far I've never had that issue where I needed straight kerosene. And winter blend diesel has been more than sufficient.
Is it safe to run this under a cabinet as shown? Some other folks have kept theirs outside, but if it's safe to run inside it'll be a perfect replacement for my 70's factory LP heat system.
Absolutely its 100% safe to run inclosed. As long as muffler putty is put on the flange the exhaust is clamped tight there is zero issues having it inside. Infact the instructions state not to mount outside as they are not weather proof and will get damaged.
Great video 👍🏻 looking for a alternate heat source rather than the factory propane furnace ( to much moister from propane) BTW I have the same size Prowler trailer but converted to a ice fishing shack , just curious for how it would perform out in the middle of the lake in -30 temps ?
