Best if demonstrated tying the rolling hitch on to another line that is under load. The new line is tied onto the old loaded up line using the rolling hitch. As you tighten up on the new line, the old one goes slack so you can undo whatever mess it is in.

I've seen the videos version called a rolling hitch in the RYA book. I've also seen the other version called the same name whereby you do a few turns then cut back across them for the clove hitch part. I'll stick with what the RYA do.

That is called a Rigger's Hitch. A Rolling Hitch is different, as is a Midshipman's Hitch. Keep trying.
