    I really appreciate this lesson because I struggle with finding the right fingers to achieve smooth playing. Once I started writing finger changes on the sheet music that helped, but it still seemed a bit nerve wracking because it adds to the reading and remembering. So this lesson was what I needed to put some logic to the whole process and sound better.

    More tips and tricks about this subject would be nice. It seem like all teachers out there teaching the same thing. They should show us all more in depth. Diatonic 7th chords and how to navigate in many different chord progressions and also different chords. Not only major and minor.

    Hi, I can read right hand music, I just can’t remember left hand notes. I play a MC 600 Yamaha organ and the first books I started with is the Kenneth Baker The Complete Organ Player, here I was taught chords mostly 2nd inversion chords and being an age of 84 finding it difficult to remember each chord. Thanks for showing me how to start with 2nd inversion chords

    Hi Kaitlyn. Love your videos and explanations. You asked what we find difficult about playing chord progressions. I don’t find them difficult other than when I am using chords that I am not familiar with, but I do have trouble making them sound interesting and rhythmic.

    Hardest part for me is actually incorporating inversions in a song without my mind wanting to revert to root position

    Truly enjoy the teaching methods / clarity you employ in your vids. As for issues with chord progressions ..most of the struggles I am experiencing are caused by my lack of commitment to the chord transitions. lol..in some cases I am still debating a target key while I am making the move from one chord to another. Sometimes it's the thumb I use and other times it's the little finger and if there are a lot of accidentals then my middle finger gets involved in targeting the note to start the chord. Even though I know the cause I continue to utilize different fingers to a target note ( and that's OK) except I am still debating which way to go while I am in transition which leads to a lack of fluid /continual musical flow. I experience this more with inversions since in the root position negates the debate. Does this go away with time?

    • @pianoly
      @pianoly  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm glad you find the teaching methods helpful! The challenges you're facing with chord transitions, especially during inversions, can definitely improve with time and practice. As you become more familiar with the chord shapes and finger placements, your transitions should become smoother and more fluid. Just keep practicing, and over time, you'll notice a significant improvement in your musical flow.

    It is a matter of practice and practice to understand it mentally.
    My problem is , like the Scarecrow,
    I don’t have a brain, I have to rely on it visually as I keep practicing until it becomes automatic.
    It is good not having a brain, you don’t have to think so hard.
    It sometimes gives me a brain freeze when I do. 😅
    I can see how it help with my Gorilla finger to move less on the keyboard.
    As they say:
    “if you don’t succeed, practice, practice, and then practice, some more.”
    That’s what Eliza Doolittle did. She went from a gutter snap to a princess.
    Thank you for other great lesson and have a blessed week.

    As a self taught beginner I struggling my right hand which inversion I will use while I'm doing chords progression. That is why I need to watch my hand which inversion I will use because I was so confused if I'm doing right. Because my muscle memory knows using only 1 inversion in a whole song. If I mix the 2nd inversion I've got messed up because of confusing.

    Hi. Do you have any tips about moving around the keyboard. I struggle with this which I can’t seem to get over this issue ..Thank you x

    • @pianoly
      @pianoly  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Of course! When it comes to moving around the keyboard more comfortably, try practicing scales and arpeggios regularly. They can help improve your finger dexterity and familiarity with the keys. Additionally, focus on hand coordination exercises to build confidence in your movements.

    Hi Kaitlyn…I have trouble with 4 note chords. My fingers seem to get all mixed up.

    • @pianoly
      @pianoly  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there! Working with four-note chords can be challenging, but it gets easier with practice. Start by practicing the chord shapes slowly and accurately to build muscle memory. Gradually increase your speed as you become more comfortable. You can also break down the chord into smaller groups of notes and practice transitioning between them. Keep at it, and over time, your fingers will become less mixed up. Happy playing! 🎹😊

    The hardest part about inversions is recognising by the notes what chord it is.
