I'm sorry that i showcased this minor Elvis vocal BLIP. But i didn't have the heart to edit the footage out. If anything this has made me love Elvis MORE! I was beginning to think that he was some kind of vocal god or something, But hearing this brought me back down to reality and see that he is just as human as you or i, and *can* make mistakes.
SO! I'm fully ready for the backlash. If you want to un-subscribe or leave thumb's downs you may do this with my blessing AND lets see some nastttyyyyyyyyy comments. I want to see swearing, i want to see personal insults! I'll give extra credit to the ones who actually put effort into their insults too. I want to feel the fulllllll force of the Elvis Fandom!
I'm going to *Pin* the most horrible comment i get so stay tuned haha
    Love you all

I love your vidéo reaction about Elvis firstly I love your honesty…it’s just right to find better interpretations than other…. More than 600 songs…it’s impossible to have 600 masterpiece 😅….and at this point, maybe I am wrong but Elvis works in studio all the night….maybe after hours and hours his voice want to take a break 😅lol…. Elvis is my idol for many years. His voice for me is so pure angelic… and I am very happy and proud than people like you take the time to discover this monumental artist. For me, you are the best reactionner by your honesty and integrity,,,don’t change! And thanks you for your work.

This was not relised before after he died, it was not intended to be released. I am so happy we still get "new" Elvis songs. 5-6 years ago a live recording of "I forgot to remember to forget" was found. There are rumered to be quite a few unreleased songs in private hands, among those a live version of "Rock around the clock" and a sun recording of "Tiger man".

This Song is "A" rank for me
    ❤❤❤
Elvis does that rasp intentionally, every time he sings this, as an emotional break. It's a technique, like a cry in his voice, which he also uses quite a bit, in many of his songs and Beautifully. It adds emotion and realism to a song. Love, Love, Love This.....One of my Favorites !!!
He uses the same rasp in Jailhouse Rock and If I can Dream but this time it's used to show emotion. It's just one of the tools in his vocal toolbox.
But.....I will admit that the one rasp you commented on was NOT perfectly executed 😆 ❤.

Eight hours into a recording session that started at 6 pm on May 19th, 1971, in Nashville, Elvis is sitting alone at the piano at 2 o'clock in the morning singing one of his favorites: Ivory Joe Hunter's "It's Still Here". He's been playing this for years at home planning to record it Sometime. This night, and understanding the magic of the moment, producer Felton Jarvis turns on the tape machine...

So agree, he was a master at how to used his voice. If he felt singing a note off key or add in a break in his vocals to make the song sound how he felt it should be or give it that emotion it needed, then that's what he did. Another reason he cannot be auto tuned. Sometimes what some would hear as imperfection was Elvis perfection.

Exactly.....Seph thinks he found an imperfection,( I think him and i are the bull and matador on this one....I'll fight for this song till the end)........All his studio recordings are perfection....bc he is making a serious recording. A home clip, a rehearsal, or live performance are going to have mistakes due to various reasons, ex: live, he may be goofing off or he may be sick. He often performed his 2 evening shows while he was sick and yet, sometimes one would be pressed to recognize it, other times they may. But that is being sick. As far as him always singing perfect, the proof is in the studio recordings. This song is not an official studio release. If you stop listening at the actual end of this song, (th-cam.com/video/YVkdYliwI30/w-d-xo.html time 2:05) it is perfection. I'll buy the record. After the end of the song, he starts goofing around with it some and of course he is going to sing off while being silly. That after section cannot be considered part of the song. He was always perfect. To say that he was caught off key etc is like listening to a rehearsal where he baaa's like a sheep and laughs and sings off on purpose or isn't even trying.

I noticed the "blip" the very first time I listened to this song. It's actually my favorite part and is by no means a mistake in my book. He may just have been tired, or his voice may have been a bit strained after a long recording session, but I agree with you that at the end he was practicing. Practicing the emotionality this song requires. You can hear the weariness and distress pick up each time he repeats the chorus. I think he was just trying to find the right level of emotion and after saying "You've been gone away one year" and sitting with it and having that realization sink in that she's really not coming back would cause a person's voice to crack/break as they try not to cry.
I love it because that's so real and relatable to me. I've definitely had my voice break midsentence as I tried to push back tears. I agree he shows he's human here with that perfectly timed crack of his voice which was absolute perfection. By the end I'm as mentally and emotionally exhausted as him.
The song as is, is about disbelief. It catches disbelief perfectly with it's simplicity. The repetition and lack of comprehension does a great job of painting the confusion and hyperfocus on one thought that is experienced when you can't wrap your mind around something. Until acceptance comes along there's no room for higher levels of thought. This song is a rare one with the level of vulnerability Elvis gives us and for that reason alone I never skip it. It's truly a gift.
Side note: Since you're doing so much from the Elvis Back In Nashville album, can you please do "We Can make the Morning" from that album as well. I love his backing vocal groups, but him doing that song by himself (Even if only because the others were removed) is next level. The absolute best version in my opinion. Thanks for the vid Seph! Hopefully no one gives you too much grief, though I am intrigued to see which comment ends up getting pinned lol.

2nd comment: Song & Album Info:
"It's Still Here" is another song written by Ivory Joe Hunter that Elvis recorded.
And this song *WAS* released during Elvis's lifetime.
It was released on the Original LP "Fool" Album (1973)
Track listing: Side One; Track #4
    More info below:
Elvis is the eighteenth studio album by American singer and musician Elvis Presley, released on July 16, 1973. It sold over 1 million copies worldwide. To differentiate it from his eponymous 1956 release, it is sometimes called The "Fool" Album, after its first track which appears just below Elvis' name on the front cover. In the US, "Fool" was issued as the B-side of "Steamroller Blues" from the Aloha from Hawaii Via Satellite album. In the UK the sides were flipped and "Fool" was issued as the A-side. It reached No. 15.
The album tracks "Fool" and "Where Do I Go From Here" were recorded in March 1972. "It's Impossible" is a live recording from the Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas from February 1972, recorded during a successful fifty-seven show season. The remaining tracks were leftovers from the March and May 1971 recording sessions at RCA's Studio B in Nashville. Three songs feature Presley on piano: "It's Still Here", "I'll Take You Home Again, Kathleen" and "I Will Be True". These three selections were all released together for a second time as part of the 1980 boxed set, Elvis Aron Presley. The song "Fool" was also released in this collection. Four other songs in this album were also reissued in other albums: "It's Impossible" (Pure Gold, 1975), "Padre" (He Walks Beside Me, 1978), "(That's What You Get) For Lovin' Me" (A Canadian Tribute, 1978) and "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right" (Our Memories Of Elvis Volume 2, 1979).

Seph: You are right. Sounds like practice. Remember, he was known for doing many takes, (without really pushing his voice) before he figured out exactly how he wanted to record it. If you’ve listened to, or had been to, enough live Elvis shows, you’d catch some mistakes. They are on on some live bootleg concerts. But usually while he was acting ‘goofy’ and not trying.

Seph I love your honesty but this song has many sentimental reasons I lost my wife 15 years ago and I used to play this over and over many tears down my face a year after she died and I absolutely love this song the simplicity of Elvis and the piano can’t go wrong with Elvis down to earth manner having a personal moment to himself he was having marriage troubles at that time and you will discover more personal emotional songs as you go through the remaining years till his death in 1977

you don't hear a lot of singers do anymore. And Iv;e also done it By Mistake to, and it sounded Terrible.

Yup, his voice kind of "gave out" a bit -- understandably -- 8 hrs. of using a voice is a strain. Did it also happen on the word "have" shortly after? You were talking so I wasn't too sure. At th-cam.com/video/NUdJ7nLSU6s/w-d-xo.html is a video entitled "Elvis Presley - It's Still Here (alt. takes 1, 2, 3)" w-a couple of b&w still shots & 1 color still w-this description: "Eight hours into a recording session that started at 6 p. m. on May 19th, 1971, in Nashville, Elvis is sitting alone at the piano at 2 o'clock in the morning singing one of his favorites: Ivory Joe Hunter's "It's Still Here". He's been playing this for years at home planning to record it. This night, and understanding the magic of the moment, producer Felton Jarvis turns on the tape machine..."

  • @timcarr6401
    @timcarr6401 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

His other slips were at 3:57 "and" --at 5:03 "around"
In the 1968 Special on one of the sessions doing Jailhouse Rock his voice cracks and he laughs at the flub. In the studio there are occasions in which his voice cracks. You'd have to spend half a decade listening to his multiple takes of hundreds of his songs.
His voice was wonderful but not perfect. You apparently haven't gotten your feet wet yet. Have you ever listened to Mario Lanza's voice? He was a musical hero of Elvis. How about Bill Kenny --another musical hero of Elvis. Or how about the voice of Roy Hamilton or Roy Orbison? I could go on and on regarding male vocalists who Elvis adored and couldn't match. And there are plenty of female singers who are nearly flawless. You need to go around the block many more times to discover that your musical world is quite limited.
Ivory Joe Hunter wrote and recorded this song. Elvis' version is sadder --which matched his personal life at the time. Ivory's version is more upbeat. Elvis did four other songs of his.
