I recently picked up one of these (same year, same color) but mine is a DX model. It took me 3.5 years to finally buy it, (because the lady wanted to reach 300,000 miles before she sold it to me). She was the original owner since May of 1991. She’s 68 years old. She gave me a ridiculously good price on it too! I was originally going to flip it, but I decided to drive it to 400,000 miles & see if it’ll make it to 500,000 miles. 😎
I love that Louis starts to talk about your car Gus. Giving you props on the setup and expressing genuine understanding of the things you’ve going through with it. Don’t remember any other interview where the person you were talking to started talking about your car. Louis, you truly are a humble man. Glad I got to learn a little more about your build.
Wow that SI brought back so many memories. It was the same color” but “ with a GSR motor. Sold it In 2005. Had to get a suv kids were getting big. Cool Vid Loco 🙌🏻👍🏻
Check main relay for start up issue. When I had my Si I soldered the main points in the relay. They melt during hot summer days. After that never had any issues for start up. Clean Si.
Super clean ride and well thought out build!! It's the total package combining clean and functional appearance and performance. Well done Louis and great interview Gus!!
I agree with the comment that cars bring people together… I am that guy to talk to people about their cars… Matt of fact, I want an Electron Blue, 1999-2000 Civic Si… Why? My mom straight out told me “No” back then when they are new… If I get one bone stock, I’m a just lower it and put old school bolt on on it… If I find one where everything is clean except for the engine… K swap!!!! I love this channel!
Had the same starting issue on my ef. Changed everything. Ended up hooking up a push start switch to a relay and then ran a wire direct to the starter. It solved my problem
Bro! I actually started following Oldscooldesigns/Louis when you just showed his EF at a meet prob spring time and shouted him out! Since i got my 91 Tahitian Green Pearl Si Hatch around same time i hit him up hoping he could link me with someone maybe make me a template to install the JDM SiR rear lip with factory hardware and he is such a dope guy! Im in upper east TN but so wish i was part of the OG honda scene out there! The dudes especially in EF gang are genuinely awesome ppl and just from the content I see and ppl i talk to it makes me wanna pack up an move asap! Best episode ever GUS 💪💪💪
I am still working on my 95 Civic coupe. The mechanicals are all done but it needs a full respray. My next 90s car purchase is a 92 Integra GS-R in green.
@@Rudenutts my was when I’m driving shout down and I fixed that issue by DW40 use DW40 and disconnect the battery and do switch on and off and spray more of DW40 do it for like 4 times so it’s will be clean
@46:30 yes that’s me…. Last build took 4 yrs inside and out plus engine bay plus motor plus upgrades and tuning while working 40+ hrs… but that was just 5 yrs ago and now my new Integra k24a2 and I didn’t get to enjoy the last build much, I could only admire it and Jo ride once orb twice a month and it was STILL expensive to maintain bcs not being driven creates problems too. You’re safer driving them.
Dude love the build . I had a starter issue on a b16 way back in the day. It ended up being the starter solenoid just intermittent. Had to use a wire from the battery to the solenoid to start it once and while.
How to fix ignition switch use DW40 in key lock I did to my EF sedan to fix it it’s was shut down by herself even in freeway it’s shut down try it it’s will remove the corrosion in the ignition switch
I just got my 91 Tahitian Green Pearl Si Hatch about 6 months ago and had same issue where it was locking up and wouldn't turn for like 20/30 tries and WD40 did the trick 100%
I bought the same car, same color from a junkyard 4 weeks ago, was an unfinished b20 swap already got it running, & nothing is being built in this video?

GSR is a great motor for this chassis man. Maybe in the future you will get another one?
Thats a pefect clean EF !
I had a feeling you would like that.
@@AutomotiveAnatomy haha you know me too well.. how many years have I been commenting on your channel ? I should get an award lol

1 of the infamous tricks and it works 100% but I got the JDI Main Relay conversion jumper with new school relay so never again lol

Thank you for your valuable time Jose. Yes, the b series is perfect for this chassis.
Thank you, I really appreciate how Gus was able to showcase it 🙏
Wow, neat Civic Si and rear spoiler looked so cool!
Where is that wing from exactly? I have been looking for a full direct bolt on one
Ahhhh man watching this reminded me of my 89 EF Si….Such a fun car. This one is nice and clean gj on the restoration!

Good stuff, guys
The start up issue is the Main Relay or the ignition switch!
Ignition switch the first issue happened to me on my EF sedan I used DW40 to fix it

My first Honda was the same civic, same color and also had HKS exhaust🥰
What happened to it?
@@AutomotiveAnatomy Threw a rod and sold it to a guy up in the bay area. Got an ITR few years later but wish I still had the Tahitian Green Si !!
