Say Out There ? What's the story on the Navy/Raytheon version T-6 ? Or is that some kind of Ram Jet after Burner ?Must be the Reconasences version .....
Yeah they’re epic! So fucking loud too. Saw one take off after the northern Illinois airshow in Waukegan and it rattled the ground and made me cover my ears. To me it’s about as loud as a fucking legacy hornet ngl. I was also like 500 feet from the runway at the time. I found out the prop tips do indeed break the sound barrier. Makes sense why it’s so loud that it rattles your bones pretty much like a fighter jet in afterburner but less intense as it doesn’t produce anywhere near as much bass
It was so cool being their on this day! They had the Warbird of America (T-6s/SNJs/Harvards), Gene McNeely (AT-6 Texan), Canadian Harvard Aerobatic Team (Harvards), Aeroshell Aerobatic Team (AT-6 Texans) and the GEICO Skytypers (North American SNJ-2/T-6 ).
2:18 I've been wanting to know for a while now but I could never find the answer; what is that tear drop shaped thing behind the cockpit? I've seen it on other aircraft before as well.
The loudest propeller plane (and the loudest plane in general, even louder than any fighter jet flying today) is the XF-84 thunderscreech. It’s propeller tips go Mach 1.18 in IDLE and can be heard from 25 miles away so about 139dB at 30 meters away. The second loudest I think is the TU-95
The Harvard engine and the prop tips sound epic. Loudest propeller powered plane I ever heard ngl. Saw one of these suckers take off after the northern IL airshow on it’s way back to wherever it came from and holy fucking shit. Rattles your body and the ground and makes you cover ur ears. To me it was legit on par with a legacy hornet with noise level. I saw legacy hornets once in Rockford Illinois before the blue angels switched to super hornets. Loudest propeller aircraft flying today prb besides the TU-95. Can’t wait to see a T-6 again!

I'm pretty sure its a newer type of radio antenna.
Thank.you.my.great.texan.
A radio antenna housing.
What are some other props that are incredibly loud?
Boeing Stearman with the 450 HP P&W Wasp. Unsettlingly loud.
